Adrienne POV

Drat.

Lucas stretched out a hand towards me, looking like he wanted to help, then thought better of it.

"May I?", he asked softly, not needing to gesture for me to know what he was talking about.

Slowly, I shook my head no. I couldn't handle it if he tried to touch me anymore than he already had.

He withdrew his hand, looking distressed, but didn't attempt to help anymore.

Finally, I gathered enough strength to move the brush in the up and down motion that would clean my teeth and Lucas turned away, grabbing another toothbrush from the top of the counter and started to brush his teeth. He finished before me, unsurprisingly, pausing every few seconds as I was.

When I had to spit, he made me do it in a small bowl since I couldn't really reach the sink, sitting down. I washed the taste of toothpaste off my mouth with water he provided in a small glass sitting on the sink, his hand supporting the bottom of the cup because I dropped it but not touching me.

Shamefacedly, I watc

  • FERAL    Chapter 12

A few hours later, Lucas opened the front door to a house that was as silent as a graveyard. The house looked as untouched as it was when he left it, except for the fact that another paper cup had joined his in the trash can. So apparently, his mate's stomach could handle a chocolate drink but not a pancake. He remembered her insinuation a few hours ago that he would spike her drink. He'd been so hurt by that but he hadn't let it show. Not for the first time, he wondered the extent of Adrienne's pain that she would think her own mate capable of poisoning her and came up blank. He remembered the bite mark on her neck then and almost growled as he realized she might not even believe they were mates. He shook his head clear of thoughts that would quickly become destructive if he didn't rein them in and climbed the stairs up to his bedroom, looking for Adrienne. The door was opened a crack and he pushed it open and walked inside. He saw the bags from earlier on the sofa, but no Adrienne.

  • FERAL    Chapter 11

Adrienne POVI almost passed out from the effort of letting Lucas hold on to my hand long enough to travel down the stairs. The house was silent around us and I wondered if he lived alone. I would've thought being the Alpha, he would be in the pack house, but the house, while sufficiently large, was too small to house a whole pack.We passed a large living room and through a flawless kitchen with marble countertops and stainless steel compartments. The whole place gleamed like it had never been used. He led me to a glass screen door that led directly to a patio with two lawn chairs and a table to the side, overlooking a well kept yard. The grass was soft and slightly damp underneath my feet. A small distance away was a tiny garden like Lucas said. There was a little fence-like structure surrounding it, demarcating it from the rest of the yard.We stepped closer. There were white and red roses, pink peonies, sunflowers, marigolds and orchids. It was beautiful. Too beautiful for someone

  • FERAL    Chapter 10

Adrienne POVI would say I woke up the next morning feeling energized but that would be a lie. The waking up part, not the part about being energized. I did feel energized. I just didn't wake up. I never slept. As usual, I heard soft snores coming from the direction of the sofa opposite the bed. I didn't think Lucas had noticed that apart from the times I was unconscious, I never slept.Shortly after, his soft snores subsided slowly and he began to stir. I watched apprehensively as he rubbed his eyes and slowly sat up. Like a magnet, his eyes were immediately drawn to mine, as though I was the first thing he thought about. He have me a small, uncertain smile."Good morning". His voice was deeper than usual, making my wolf perk up."G - good morning", I stammered."How are you feeling?""I'm fine." I made no mention of my wolf and he raised an eyebrow."Bathroom?"I nodded shyly. There was mounting pressure in my bladder and I didn't want to go on his bed.I noticed the wheelchair rema

  • FERAL    Chapter 9

Lucas was pacing the length of his room, wondering what in goddess's name had caused his mate to faint the way she did. Dr Abbie was bent over her on the bed, examining her. He heard a sound and turned to see her twitch. Wordlessly, he rushed to Dr Abbie's side."She's gaining consciousness", the doctors said unnecessarily. He could see her eyelids twitching now that he'd pushed away that accursed hair always blocking her face. He knew immediately she woke, she would quickly put them back in their place over her eyes.He almost gasped as the said eyes opened almost too quickly. He couldn't help but be bewitched by the sheer beauty now that he could see them clearly again. They were a blue so bright, they were almost glowing. That wasn't the most unusual thing about them though. That would be the few specks of white that swirled around in her eyes in an almost hypnotic motion until they converged in the middle, where her pupils should be. Only she had no pupils. Or rather, she had *whit

  • FERAL    Chapter 7

Adrienne POVWhen the first rays of sunlight filtered in through the tiny crack in the drapes, I was still telling myself what I'd been chanting in my head throughout the night, and a long night it was.I'd thought the Alpha was asleep already when I'd pulled myself up to bed, but I was proven wrong when, a really wrong time later, his breathing suddenly became deep and soft snores emanated from him. I realized that he had been awake the whole time, keeping an ear out. For me? I told myself to discard that thought. With nothing better to do than lie in bed till someone came or the Alpha awakened, I decided to study the room. Like I noticed the night before, the bed I was lying on was so large, it would comfortably accommodate five me, though that wasn't a fair comparison, seeing as I was smaller than the average werewolf. When I first came to Alpha Marcus's pack, I was bullied because of my size. The situation was quickly rectified though. I realized the direction my mind was going and
