Lyra

“You like him already?” My eyes narrowed into slits, cutting into Mirae like sharp blades.

Her lips curled into a half-smirk, half-shrug, like she didn’t care what I thought. “What if I do?”

I scoffed, leaning forward, my glare never breaking away from hers. “Don’t you think it’s too early? You don’t even know this guy. You just met him.” My words shot out like bullets.

Mirae’s expression shifted instantly. Her wide eyes burned back at me, trembling with something between anger and hurt. Her chest rose and fell sharply as if she couldn’t believe I had said that. “What about you?” she fired back, her voice cracking but strong. “You just met him also, but you’re already claiming to be seeing him!”

The room went dead silent. Her words slapped me across the face harder than she ever could. My jaw clenched, and I could feel my throat tighten. She wasn’t wrong.

I swallowed hard, trying to steady my voice, but when I finally spoke, it came out softer, almost defeated. “It’s not like I

  • FIRST NIGHT WITH THE HOCKEY ALPHA    Chapter 104

NickHow can this be?She peeled her face off… and it was Lyra’s face staring back at me.My Lyra. For a second, my heart forgot how to beat. My hands flew up to my head, fingers digging into my hair as if holding my skull together would make sense of what I’d just seen. My breathing turned shallow, my chest rising and falling like I’d just run miles.I stood frozen in front of the screen, watching her every move like I’d been chained there. She walked into the bathroom casually, wrapped in that small towel, droplets of water still clinging to her skin like tiny stars. Her movements were soft, like she was trying to erase the world one step at a time. Then she returned, sat at the edge of the bed, and lifted one leg slowly as she reached for the lotion. Her legs… they were exactly how I remembered them. Long and smooth.I caught myself staring. Not just looking.“What nice legs she has,” I muttered without even realizing it. My own voice startled me, and I quickly turned my head away…

  • FIRST NIGHT WITH THE HOCKEY ALPHA    Chapter 103

Nick“Alpha!”Ben’s voice cracked through the thick air, his eyes wide in disbelief as he saw it happen, her hands on me… and the storm inside me just vanished. I could see the shock spread across his face like a slap. Before I could blink, Ben rushed forward, grabbing her by the arm and yanking her away from me as if her touch had burned him too. She stumbled back, startled but still calm.He turned to me next, his hands gripping my arm as he dragged me back toward the room, his breathing uneven. I could feel the heat from my earlier rage still burning under my skin, but the chaos inside me had gone quiet… completely quiet.“No need to handcuff me,” I muttered, my voice low, almost distant. My mind was still replaying that touch. “I’m okay.”Ben froze halfway to the iron bar, blinking at me like I’d just spoken in another language. “What happened out there, Alpha?” he asked, his voice tight with disbelief. “That… that has never happened before.”I could still see the last time reflec

Nick“Alpha, calm down!”Ben’s voice cut through the chaos, but I couldn’t stop. My room looked like a war zone. The table was shattered, the glass mirror cracked, and the floor littered with broken things. I didn’t care. Everything inside me was burning.“Don’t you dare touch me!” I shouted, my voice rough, almost breaking. I threw a vase against the wall, watching it explode into pieces. The sound didn’t even satisfy me. It only reminded me of the emptiness inside my chest.Ever since I came back from looking for Lyra, I hadn’t been myself. It was like the air I breathed turned into poison the moment she vanished again.Ben didn’t listen to my warning. He ran closer, his eyes full of worry. “Alpha, please—”I shoved him hard. “I said stay away!”My head was spinning. My vision blurred. The madness was here again the same one that kept haunting me ever since she left. I’d been seeing things lately, hearing her voice when she wasn’t there, seeing her reflection in mirrors, shadows tha

Nick“Sir, what are you doing here?”That voice yanked me out of my thoughts like a slap. I turned sharply, my chest tightening when I saw who it was, Mr. Hayden, the man currently running the company while I finished college. He looked surprised, maybe even a little worried, to see me standing in the middle of the lobby like I’d just seen a ghost.“I came for something else. Don’t mind me,” I muttered, brushing him off quickly. I turned around, but she was gone. The spot where Lyra had been cleaning seconds ago was empty. My stomach dropped.“Ben…” My voice came out sharper than I intended. “Where the hell did she go?”Ben froze beside me. His usual confidence vanished. “I… she… she was here just now,” he stammered, eyes darting around nervously. “I swear, Alpha, she was right here.”“Then find her!” I barked. My voice echoed across the marble floor, and a few employees glanced our way before quickly looking down again.Ben didn’t waste a second, he ran off, shouting her name down th

NickWhat the hell is going on?My eyes flew open, the sound of the plane engine roaring in my ears. My head pounded like a hammer against my skull. For a second, I couldn’t remember how I even got here. Then it hit me, my mom. She must’ve drugged me.I looked down. A seatbelt was strapped tight across my chest. My hands were shaking as I yanked at it, unclipping the belt so hard that it whipped back.“Sir, please—sir, you can’t do that!” the flight attendant rushed toward me, her face pale with panic.I didn’t care. My mind was spinning. “Stop the plane right now!” I shouted, my voice echoing over the low hum of passengers whispering.“Sir, please calm down,” another attendant said, her tone polite but trembling. “We’re already in the air. Stopping now would be dangerous—”“I don’t give a damn!” I cut her off. “Stop it! Land this plane now!”My words sounded insane, even to me. But how could I stay calm when my mom just tore my whole life apart? When she forced me to leave everything

  • FIRST NIGHT WITH THE HOCKEY ALPHA    Chapter 99

NickMy claws had already slid out, sharp and glinting under the dim lights. My vision burned red. I was ready to attack the officers. My muscles tensed, my breath came out heavy, almost like a growl. One of the policemen reached for his handcuffs, his eyes wide but trying to stay firm. Another took a cautious step forward, hands raised slightly like he was approaching a wild animal. And then—“Please, he’s my child. He’s not mentally stable!”That voice. My mom’s voice. It cut through my rage like a blade. My eyes widened. The red glow flickered, fading slowly as I turned toward her. She stood just a few feet away, her hair a little messy, her face pale. Her hands trembled slightly as she faced the police. The officers stared at her, then at me, confusion flashing across their faces. One whispered something to the other. After a tense moment and a few hushed words between them and my mom, they lowered their hands.“Fine. But take him out of here immediately,” one of them muttered bef
