Lyra

“Where are you heading to?”

Nick’s voice sliced through the quiet hallway the moment I stepped out of the room. The sound made me flinch. I froze, clutching my bag to my chest like a lifeline. For a heartbeat, my knees wobbled so badly I thought I might sink to the floor right there.

“Anywhere away from here,” I muttered, my voice rough and low. My eyes stayed on the floor, afraid to meet his.

“What are you saying, Lyra?” His footsteps were fast, urgent, closing the gap between us. “What do you mean?” His fingers brushed mine, reaching to hold my hand, but I jerked back as if burned.

“I’m pissed, Nick. I’m scared!” My voice cracked, loud and sharp in the stillness. “Do you know what it feels like to wake up every day wondering if you’re next? I just escaped with God’s grace, but what about next time?” My chest heaved, and hot tears pricked my eyes, spilling before I could blink them away.

I shoved his hand off. “Nick, it’s too dangerous. Mirae is dead, all because of this.” My vo

Lyra“What? Are you crazy, Nick?” The words flew out of my mouth before my brain even caught up. “Nick, I can’t!”But he didn’t budge. He was still kneeling in front of me with that ridiculous, hopeful smile, holding out the ring like this was some romantic movie scene and not the most chaotic moment of my entire life.“Baby, accept my ring,” he said, louder this time. Before I could blink, the entire crowd joined him.“Accept the ring! Accept the ring! Accept the ring!”My ears rang and my soul left my body, even my embarrassment level shot to dangerous heights.Every single eye in that jewellery store was glued to me. Phones were filming. People looked way too invested, like this was reality TV and they were waiting for the dramatic season finale.I stared at Nick.He stared at me.My heart thudded painfully against my ribs.“I don’t want to do this,” I whispered, my voice shaking as much as my hands. “Everyone is watching. Every eye is on us. If we get together, everything will sta

LyraGet a grip of yourself, Lyra. That was the first thing running through my head, even though my heart was behaving like it had completely resigned from its job. It was pounding so hard I felt like it wanted to climb out of my chest, run away, and leave me behind to deal with this insanity alone.Nick’s arms were still around me, carrying me like I weighed nothing. My entire body was tense, like someone had poured electricity into my veins. My words came out shaky, scattered, messy, just like my brain.“Drop me down now, please,” I whispered, trying to sound calm, but my voice betrayed me. It wobbled like a sick cartoon character.Nick didn’t even blink.Instead, he leaned closer. So close his breath warmed the side of my face, so close I could count each dark lash framing his eyes, so close my heart basically stopped beating for a while.“I’m never dropping you,” he murmured, voice deep enough to scramble my entire nervous system. “Do not talk....anymore.”The way he said it… slow

Lyra“Caught you! Now you can’t run away from me.”Nick’s voice sliced through the air behind me. The moment I heard it, my entire body locked up like someone had pressed pause on me. My leg literally froze mid-step. I couldn’t move, not even an inch.Panic exploded through my chest.Shit. What am I going to do? What am I going to do?!I needed to leave immediately. I forced my leg forward, one shaky step, trying to keep going, pretending I didn’t hear him.“STOP RIGHT THERE!”His voice thundered again, louder this time, sharp enough that people in the hospital corridor jerked around to look at him. Then he added, loud enough to echo off the walls:“If you move an inch, I’m going to kiss you!”My head snapped around so fast I could’ve sworn something cracked in my neck.Every single person around us went silent. And I, like an idiot, just turned.I don’t even know why. Reflex? Madness? Curiosity? Stupidity?Probably all of the above.“Oh my God,” I whispered under my breath. “This gu

  • FIRST NIGHT WITH THE HOCKEY ALPHA    Chapter 114

LyraMy chest burned. Not the sharp, stabbing kind of pain, this was worse. This was panic, desperation, fear, all tangled together and squeezing my lungs until every breath felt too small. I clutched my hands against my chest as I bent forward slightly, gasping, my shoulders shaking as I tried to steady myself.I had been running.Running without looking back. Now I was pressed against the cold white wall of a hospital corridor, hidden just enough behind the corner, my bare feet stinging against the icy tiles. The fluorescent lights above hummed softly, mocking how calm everything looked compared to the storm ripping through me.Oh, thank God.He didn’t catch me.A shaky breath slipped out of me, half a laugh, half a sob. My head fell back against the wall, eyes squeezing shut as my heart slammed wildly against my ribs.I did it....I actually did it.He’s so dumb. The thought came unfiltered, bitter and sharp, and for a brief second, it made me smile. A crooked, exhausted smile that

NickBen’s voice reached me before I even saw him.“Alpha… what exactly are you planning to do with her now that she’s here?”I was seated by the window, one leg crossed over the other, a glass of wine balanced loosely in my fingers. The city lights outside glowed softly, indifferent to everything happening inside these walls. I took a slow sip, letting the taste settle, letting the moment breathe.A smile curved on my lips before I answered.“What do you think I’m going to do with her?”I finally looked up.Ben stood a few steps inside the room, arms folded tightly across his chest. His jaw was tense, his eyes cautious, like he was standing in front of a bomb that could go off any second.“I don’t know, Alpha,” he said carefully. “But this… this isn’t right. This is kidnapping.”I chuckled under my breath, amused more than offended.“Kidnapping,” I repeated lazily, swirling the wine. “You make it sound so ugly.”“It is ugly,” Ben insisted. “What if she—”“Ben,” I cut in sharply, sett

Lyra“What are you doing? Let go of me!”My voice tore out of my throat, sharp and wild, echoing off the walls as if the room itself was startled by my panic. Hands clamped around my arms, firm, unyielding. I twisted, kicked, clawed at the air, anything to get free.“Nick, let me go….please!” My plea cracked halfway through. I hated how desperate it sounded, how weak it made me feel. “Let go of me!”They didn’t.The men holding me were built like walls, their grips tightened every time I struggled, like my resistance was only convincing them to hold harder.“Nick” I screamed, my head snapping in his direction. “What the hell are you doing? I said let go of me!”My heart was slamming so hard against my ribs it hurt. Every breath felt jagged, uneven, like my lungs had forgotten how to work properly.“You shouldn’t force me to stay here,” I shouted, my voice hoarse now. “I don’t want to stay here! You don’t get to decide that!”Nick stepped closer. His eyes never left mine, dark and rest
