LOGINLucille’s POV
Before I could panic, Harvey’s smiling face flashed on the screen. He waved. “Hi Mommy,” he giggled, rushing to his reading table. He grabbed his drawing book and ran back to the camera. “I drew a picture,” he said, turning the book around to the camera.“Is it good Mommy?” He pressed his chin to the paper.“I think I made my nose a little too big,” he muttered. His cute expression made me smile. My baby. “MomLucille’s POVJospehine always hid her emotions well. Quick to hide her emotions. Always steady and put together so why does she look this way? “My help?” I scoffed. “I’m in the hospital. What help can I possibly render to you?”“I know it might seem like you can’t but you can actually,” she said.I looked over my shoulder. “You can’t be here, okay? I don’t want to have anything to do with you,” I said.I didn’t want to get into anything she wanted me to do. She was… untrustworthy. I couldn’t get wrapped up in whatever she wanted to do. “It’s not what you think,” she said.“Does it have anything to do with your mafia dealings?” I asked.“Yes and no,” she said. “I am not trying to get you in or make you do something illegal. I just need you to talk to King.”My ears perked up. “What about him?”She exhaled. “I need you to help me get the documents back.”I sna
Lucille’s POVKing led us down the hallway and we stopped at the morgue. He grabbed the door handle then paused. “You have to promise that you’ll be okay,” he said. “And I’m working on it to make things right.”I wasn’t sure what he wanted to show me but I nodded. “Brace yourself,” he said then pushed the door open. A diener welcomed us. “Show her,” King said to him.He gave a curt nod then removed the covering on a body laid on a table. My hand flew to my mouth as I stumbled back. Benjamin held me. My vision turned blurry with tears. “What- what happened to her?” I asked King, my voice breaking.“Oh my God,” I muttered. “She told me she was travelling yesterday, how did she…”I crashed into Benjamin’s arms. I couldn’t imagine what had happened to her. “You were listed as her only family so we need you to sign off on some documents to get her cremated,” the diener said.“Give us a moment,” King said.
Lucille's POV My head turned to the side, a groan escaping my lips. My eyes tightened shut. The pain surged in my chest then to my head and I was back there. Twice, I almost died in a fire but I couldn’t stop thinking about this time.It felt close, frightening. My heart raced remembering the chase and then waking up to a building burning while I was still inside. My grip tightened on the sheets. The pain dropped to my stomach. It felt bearable for a second then it spiked. Literally felt like there were spikes in my stomach. I hissed, gripping them. I opened my eyes to the bright lights of the ward I was in.The smell of antibiotics waft into my nose only making my situation worse. “Ben,” I called out softly.“Ben,” I called out again when I got no response, looking around. The room was empty. Where could he have gone? I sat up, still clutching my stomach. “Ah!” the pain worsened.I pr
King’s POVAnother punch came on the man’s face. His head slammed into the table in front of him with blood oozing out of his nose and mouth. We've had him now for a few days —Lawrence. The man with a good heart after he skillfully got my woman abducted chose to return. I nursed the cigar, letting the heat of the smoke fill my mouth before letting go.Niva poured a bucket of ice water on him. Lawrence gasped awake. “Glad you could join us again,” she said, then held his face.“I’m not as mean as he is,” she gestured for one of my men, his previous tormentor. “I want to make a simple deal with you.”“I swear I don't know anybody,” Lawrence said, his voice shaky.“Are you sure? I might be nice but he isn't,” she gestured towards me.I stared down at them from a distance. There was a large glass separating me from the three people in the room. I specially made
Lucille’s POVBenjamin returned to the hospital minutes later. “What’s going on?” he asked the doctor who joined us.“We noticed a mass in her heart. We hadn’t spotted any internal bleeding before now but we had to be sure which is one of the reasons we kept her here for observation but her vitals kept dropping and so we had to run another test and we found a mass caused by blood clots,” the doctor explained.“So what are we to do now?”“We will run more tests and immediately get her in for surgery,” the doctor said.“And you are sure she’ll be fine?”“Yes, it has a very high success rate. She’ll be fine,” the doctor said.“Could it be delayed just a little?” I asked.“I’m not sure how long your body can hold on with such clot,” the doctor said.“Thank you doctor. We’ll talk to you later,” Benjamin said. The doctor left us alone as Benjamin took my hand.
Lucille’s POVI held the sink as I threw up my lunch. I stared at my reflection in the mirror and my heart skipped a beat. I looked dead. My eyes were sunken, dark circles around them. I was pale, like any moment I could drop.My head spun and I gagged once more, throwing up some more. I splashed some water on my face before stepping out of the bathroom. “Honey,” Benjamin took my hand, helping me to the bed.He fluffed the pillow before guiding me down. I felt tired. I couldn’t look at him. Katherine’s words but the real truth was something I had ignored for so long. Could I really be with him again? He tried to kill me. He cheated on me and worse, it felt as though his efforts were not just working. At the moment, yes but not in the long run. He was trying to make it all better, his efforts told me that. The doctor checked on me and the nurse administered my injections which were more than it usually was. I laid
Lucille’s POV I rushed down the stairs and flung the door open, snapping my head to each side.I could have sworn I saw someone standing by the window. I rubbed my forehead, slowly having my head ache. “I must have been seeing things,” I muttered to myself, shutting the door.I left for Harvey’s r
Lucille's POV “What?!”I raised my head, brows wiggled in confusion. I wasn't surprised he was bringing it up. It was expected, but I was surprised as to why he brought it up now.I hadn't signed any document which meant they had nothing they wanted. Were they tired of playing the games just when
Lucille's POV The soft beeping of the monitor filled my ears as I slowly came to. I blinked my eyes open, taking some time to get used to the lighting of the room. With the smell of antiseptic and medication, I knew I was in the hospital. The first person I spotted when I opened my eyes was Gary.
Lucille's POV “What are you doing here?” I asked Gary.He looked taller and broader than he had back at the club. It could be because of the dim lights of the club or the fact he had a gun pointed at me less than five minutes of me being in the club. All that didn't matter now. What mattered was
