EVA'S POV

Walking into Clark’s office felt like walking into a storm I had personally invited.

The receptionist barely looked up when I entered, but my heart was already pounding so hard it felt like it might expose me.

I could hear my own breathing as I walked down the hallway, heels clicking against the floor like they were announcing my arrival louder than I wanted.

When I stepped inside his office, Clark was standing by the window, his back to me.

He turned slowly.

And just like that, eve

EVA'S POV“What are you doing here Clark??" Clark’s eyes burned into mine, dark and intent, like he’d been starving for this moment all through dinner. He took another step forward, crowding me against the counter without touching me yet. The air between us thickened with everything we couldn’t say out there.“Clark,” I whispered, half warning, half plea. “We can’t…Not here.”He didn’t answer with words. Instead, his hand came up with his fingers tracing the line of my jaw, tilting my chin until I had no choice but to meet his gaze. “You’ve been driving me insane all night,” he murmured.“That dress….The way you look at me…. I couldn’t sit there another second.”Before I could protest and before I could think, he closed the distance. His mouth crashed onto mine, hot and demanding, swallowing any sound I might have made. I melted into it with my hands fisting in his shirt, pulling him closer. God, he tasted like wine and forbidden things, his tongue sweeping in to claim me, tea

  • FORBIDDEN DESIRES    CHAPTER FORTY THREE

EVA'S POVI woke before the sun had fully claimed the sky as Clark’s arm rested heavily across my waist like he was afraid I’d disappear in the night. His breathing was slow, deep, peaceful in a way that made my chest ache. For a moment I just watched him…his dark and long eyelashes , his lips slightly parted, the faint red marks my nails had left on his shoulder last night. Careful not to wake him, I slipped out of bed, pulled on the silk robe and walked barefoot to the kitchen.I wanted to give him something soft this morning. I scrambled eggs with fresh herbs, toasted thick slices of sourdough, sliced avocado, and brewed strong coffee for him.I arranged everything on a small wooden tray, added a single sprig of rosemary and carried it back to the bedroom. He stirred the second I set the tray on the nightstand.“Morning,” I whispered, sliding back under the covers beside him.His eyes opened slowly, sleepy and surprised, then warmed when they focused on me. “You’re up early.”“

  • FORBIDDEN DESIRES    CHAPTER FORTY TWO

EVA'S POV Clark's mouth came down on mine slowly at first, testing, like he was giving me one last chance to change my mind. Then I parted my lips and the kiss deepened, turning into hunger. His hands slid to my waist, pulling me flush against him.I felt every hard inch of him, felt the way he trembled when I moaned softly into his mouth. We moved without breaking the kiss, stumbling toward the living room until my back met the wall. Clark’s hands roamed up my sides, over the curve of my hips, then higher with his thumbs brushing the undersides of my breasts through the thin fabric of my dress. I arched into him moving my fingers through his still-damp hair.“God, you feel…” He broke the kiss only to trail his lips along my jaw and down my neck with his teeth grazing the sensitive spot where my pulse hammered. “So fucking perfect.”I gasped when he cupped my breast as his thumb circled my nipple until it went hard under his touch. I tugged at the hem of his t-shirt, desperate

  • FORBIDDEN DESIRES    CHAPTER FORTY ONE

EVA'S POV The rain had soaked him through, dark strands of hair plastered to his forehead, water sliding down the sharp line of his jaw and dripping from the collar of his shirt. His chest rose and fell like he’d run the whole way here instead of driving and those eyes….those storm dark eyes locked on mine and held something raw I hadn’t seen before. For a second, neither of us moved. Then I found my voice, soft, almost breathless. “You came.”“I said I would.” His tone was low, rough from the cold. A single drop of rain traced his throat and disappeared beneath the wet fabric clinging to his skin. “Didn’t expect the downpour to try and drown me on the way.”I stepped back as my heart was beating so hard I was sure he could hear it. “Come in. Please…you’re freezing.”“Thank you." He didn’t hesitate. The moment the door clicked shut behind him, the outside world vanished.Just the two of us, the low golden light from the dining table candles I’d lit hours ago, and the steady d

His voice wasn’t loud, but it was cold enough to sting although I was weirdly expecting every bit of his coldness. He didn’t ask me to sit.“I already told my accounts department to send you the money,” he continued. “Whatever your fiance wants, he’ll get it. So if that’s why you’re here….”“I didn’t come for money.” I said as I cut him off. That made him pause. He studied my face li

  • FORBIDDEN DESIRES    CHAPTER THIRTY NINE

EVA'S POV I could feel my chest tightening, my hands trembling as I stared at Daniel. My heart wanted to scream, my mind wanted to lash out, and yet, I was frozen by the weight of the truth he had just revealed.“So… Rachel…She… She actually paid you? To come back into my life to deceive me into marrying you?”Daniel lowered his head, shame clouding his features. “I didn’t want to, Eva…I swear I didn’t want to hurt you… but she… she made it impossible to refuse…she reached out to me, told me she wanted you distracted, that you needed to be manipulated, and… and I went along.”I felt my hands ball into fists, nails digging into my palms. The anger rose inside me, hot and suffocating. My chest heaved, and for a moment, I wanted to shout, to scream, to tear something apart. How could my sister…my own blood stoop that low? To plan such a thing, just because of a man?Daniel looked up at me, confusion etched across his face. “Eva… you’re scaring me…should I go? I think I should go n
