Then his lips twitched into a dangerous little smirk. He leaned down until we were almost nose-to-nose. “Actually… I don’t know how I’d react. Let’s find out.” “You must think I’m stupid,” I frowned, ignoring the way my pulse skyrocketed. “I don’t think you’re stupid.” His voice softened. “I just think you’re the kind of woman who likes to prove her point. It won’t hurt. I’ve seen plenty of naked women. It’s really not a big deal.” Of course you have. Men like him are known to be bloody players. Mitch was different too… until he wasn’t. “Unlike you,” I said, straightening my spine, “I have dignity and self-respect. I may have lost my ring, but I won’t lose my marriage too. So stop trying to tempt me into something I’ll regret.” For a second, something flickered across his face. Then he straightened up. “You should wait outside while I get dressed.” The sudden switch surprised me, but I wasn’t about to argue. I practically fled the room and leaned against the wall, exhaling shakily. Thinking about my missing wedding ring again made my throat tighten. I could already imagine Mitch’s angry voice: “Do you know how much that ring cost, Lena? And of course you’d lose it. Maybe if you hadn’t let yourself go… I wouldn’t have paid those girls to come over, we wouldn’t have argued, and you wouldn’t have left the house and lost the damn ring.” That’s exactly something he would say. “I hope I survive his anger,” I whispered. Just then, the deep rumble of a motorcycle cut through the air. My heart leaped into my throat. Oh great. Someone’s coming. Probably here to kill me. This is exactly how true-crime documentaries start. The rider was wearing a face cap and mask. The moment he turned toward me, I didn’t wait — I bolted back inside like a scared rabbit. Tarzan was already dressed: black shirt, black pants, black boots. The simple outfit had no right looking that good on anyone. “I guess our ride is here,” he said, nodding toward the door. “Our ride?” I echoed, blinking in disbelief. “Yes. My friend Joey lent me his superbike so I could impress you,” Tarzan said, completely serious. I stared at him. “Wait… you can’t be serious. You borrowed a whole superbike just to impress who*?” “You.” A tiny, ridiculous flutter hit my stomach. I squashed it immediately like an annoying bug. “Did you pay him for it?” “I did…” “Are you stupid?!” I snapped before I could stop myself. His entire expression changed in a heartbeat. His face went cold, shoulders squared, and he walked toward me with one hand in his pocket like some brooding alpha male from a dark romance novel. The playful guy from minutes ago had completely vanished. He leaned in close, voice low and dangerously calm. “I don’t like being called stupid.” My stomach tightened. My throat went dry. That intense stare made my knees feel suspiciously weak. For one terrifying second, I almost whispered, "Sorry, sir." Then — like flipping a switch — he smiled again, soft and dangerously charming. “But you… you can call me anything. I’ll happily answer to whatever Lena calls me.” "Idiot". I cursed inwardly. He scared me for nothing. “Tarzan!” Joey’s voice called from outside. “A minute!” he replied, still looking at me. “I might be away for a while,” he continued, rubbing the back of his neck. Away? Why did my heart suddenly race at that statement? “I had to hustle to get some cash. Used my last card to buy groceries for breakfast this morning. Since you’re heading home… make sure you eat well, okay?” He can’t even afford food? My chest squeezed with an unwanted wave of sympathy. This ridiculously hot man was out here borrowing a superbike and spending his last money just to… impress me? Why? It didn’t make any sense. “You’re a really good-looking guy,” I said softly. “You could easily get modeling jobs. You should try it. It can pay your bills and put food on your table you know". His eyes widened like he hadn’t expected the compliment, then he smirked. That crooked smile did unfair things to my pulse. “Since you suggested it. I’ll give it a try.” For some stupid reason, that made me genuinely happy — like warm sunshine blooming in my chest.“Your twin babies have grown into such adorable kids,” I told him. He laughed and shrugged off his suit jacket, then loosened his tie. “You mean those annoying little devils?” “Don’t call them annoying little devils,” I replied. He laughed again. “Well, they’re so full of energy.” He paused, rolling up his sleeves. “Sometimes it feels like hell having them around nonstop. It’s one of the things I envy about you and Mitch — you get to enjoy each other’s company without the constant childish chaos, at least for now.” I smiled sadly, the ache in my heart deepening. “That’s how you see it? It’s a lot more complicated than that, Jake.” “Care to share?” He sighed. “I know Mitch hasn’t been very kind to you lately. Honestly… he’s said a lot of demeaning stuff about you. I’ve always told him you’re one of a kind and that he should protect what he has.” He paused. “Well, I’m just saying… if you need someone to talk to, I’m here. I can be a friend — not just your husband’s.”
He pulled away, merging into traffic. For a moment, we drove in silence. Neither of us said a word. “So,” he began, his voice low and probing, “what’s the problem? Why did you leave like that and make him so worried? Yesterday was supposed to be his birthday, Lena. You know how much that means to him. It wasn’t fair.” I stared out the window, watching the city blur past. “Like I said, we… we had an argument. A misunderstanding. It was so silly of me. I just left the house without thinking.” “Where did you go?” His tone was casual, but I could hear the sharpening curiosity beneath it. “A… a friend’s place,” I lied, my voice faltering. I couldn’t tell him the truth—that I had almost done something reckless with another man, that a stranger had saved me from committing suicide. It would raise too many questions. “A close friend?” he pressed, glancing sideways. “Yes,” I said quickly. “A co-worker.” “I see.” He nodded slowly. “You should’ve at least answered your calls. Mitch sai
I still can't shake off the expression Tarzan had on his face when I told him nothing would ever happen between us. It shouldn't have been hard for me to get past it, but his face was intense and scary—like he was broken deeply. I wonder if that was what I looked like when Mitch and those girls were messing around and I snapped. He was calm, expressing everything through his eyes, while I was yelling and crying. So maybe it wasn’t exactly the same. It’s not something that could be compared. He may be young, but he’ll move on soon. I don’t know if I’ll ever move on from Mitch. After Tarzan made that face, I couldn’t stand it, so I just walked away. I couldn’t face him, but I hope he understands. I did it not just because I’m a married woman, but because he’s a young man with so much potential—the kind of face that belongs on billboards and brand campaigns, with plenty of female admirers. Being a sugar boy is pathetic.I don't know what he was thinking by being intereste

Her eye twitched. She smacked my arm. Then again. And again. “You insane, reckless— Is this how you ride? So careless!” I chuckled. “You’re so adorable, Lena. I thought you’d enjoy it.” That only set her off even more. She grabbed my jacket and tried to shake me — like a kitten attacking a brick wall. “Do you think this is a joke? I was screaming my lungs out! I even bit you — and you didn’t even slow down!” I shrugged. “Didn’t hurt.” Her mouth fell open. “Didn’t—?! I bit you with all my strength! Are you even human?!” I leaned in closer, eyes locked on hers, voice low. “I’d be more worried about your teeth, wifey.” “You almost gave me high blood pressure!” People around us were starting to stare. “Nothing to see here,” I said with a chuckle. “Just my girlfriend scolding me.” “Don’t insult me… I am not your girlfriend,” she said strictly, pulling off the helmet and shoving it into my hands. “Goodbye, Tarzan.” She turned and started walking away. The smile on
The image of her welcoming him home from work, smiling up at him, letting him kiss her, touch her body… making love to her. Fuck that. “Tarzan!” Lena yelled, snapping me out of my thoughts. “Hold on tight.” “What—” Before she could finish, I twisted the throttle. “Wait!” she screamed. Her arms flung around my torso as the sudden surge of power slammed us forward. We were flying across the high bridge now. Her heart hammered so hard I could almost feel it against my back. For a moment she was rigid with fear, but then I heard her start chuckling. I glanced at the mirror. “See? Not so bad, wifey!” I yelled back. “Don’t call me that!” she snapped. I felt her arms loosen slowly. She lifted them — just a little at first, then higher — stretching into the rushing air. “Yeah!!!!” she squealed. *Hold on tighter, baby.* I wanted to say it out loud. I wanted to pull over on the side of this empty road, turn around, and kiss her until she forgot that bastard’s name. Un
