After getting the life scared out of her, Adira opened her eyes to see her friends and family openly smiling at her, their eyes glowing with joy. She didn’t have the heart to disappoint them so she acted as they expected. She fakes a smile, looking at every one of them in the eyes, and pretending to share their happiness, when that word is the last thing she is feeling right at this moment. The next day, Adira was successfully discharged from the hospital. She emerged through its swinging doors with her parents, looking drained and tired. Her ordeal is not just physical, but she looked like a woman whose soul is troubled. Not that the two adults walking ahead of her noticed, or they did, but are too much of a coward to face it, hoping that the problem would sort itself out. While, Jake chats his determination in his heart, Adira walks towards him with dread in her heart. Where, before, she saw the handsome young man before her as a friend, the blonde is indecisive on how to regard Jake. To her, he emoldens the very thing she hates, even though it is not his fault. As the distance between her and Jake, shortens, her stride towards him slows, as if to prolong the inevitable.
