Adira quickly sat up in her bed, heart racing, her blonde hair disheveled from sleep. Her sleep last night was a restless one, filled with nightmares of the past events and losing her sister.

Adira swept her slender fingers through her blonde hair, willing her heart to stop pounding, as she affirmed to herself that her sister would be alright.

She got down from her queen-size bed, her tiny feet slipping into her bedroom slippers—pink, thick foam slippers with the big ears of a cat on top of them.

She moved into her bathroom, turned on the tap, and bent over to splash water on her face.

The chilled water helped jog her to a full wakefulness. She raised her wet face to look at the mirror nailed to the wall above her, her hands pressed on the cool white surface of the sink.

She stared at her reflection in silence. Her green eyes looked sad and tired. She didn't like what she saw in the mirror and felt slightly bothered, so she walked away.

Kendra drove her bike to the address Red gave her, where she would find the person who would lead her to the ones she was looking for. The address is a whore house. The rogue she is looking for has a perchance for fucking human females. There has never been a real relationship between humans and werewolves, but it hasn’t stopped some male werewolves from sinking their dick into the human females. For some, it is a way to get cheap sex, and for others, it is an addiction. Like the rogue, the brunette is waiting for. She parked her Suzuki and came down. She leaned her body against it and waited. Her intel told her the rogue should be leaving around this time and would be coming her way. She picked the alley because she wanted to keep their fight away from human eyes. Ten minutes past the time her query was supposed to appear, Kendra glanced down at her wrist watch impatiently. The downside of waiting on a werewolf to finish his business and come down is that they are not as quick as

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Fifty-Three: Massive shock In The Room

The doctor’s words caused a massive explosion in the room. The P word was not on the list of all things the teenagers expected to hear. Jake had a mini heart attack, and Nate looked like someone stabbed him straight to the heart. Dylan and Adira couldn’t pick their jaw off the floor fast enough. But the one with the most massive reaction is the blonde on the bed. Panic and shock warred on her face, with the blonde struggling to reveal either of the emotions. Panic finally won, and the blonde succumbed to the beckoning darkness. The doctor continued, talking about the expectations of an expectant mother. Jake was lost in thought, panicking about the probability of the baby being his, and consoling himself that he only did it once with the blonde and, as such, couldn’t be the father. Dylan worried that if it gets out that Jake is the father, it will be the end of their friendship, while Adira burned her brain cells trying to figure out Meredith’s baby’s father. The blonde had no id

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Fifty-Two: You are pregnant

“Meredith, are you alright?!” Adira ran after her best friend and found her slumped on the toilet floor, her head leaning over the porcelain bowl.“Poor you,” Adira comments sympathetically, and she leans down to shift the blonde’s hair from her face. Another wave of nausea came again, causing Meredith to throw up again. She didn’t understand why she had been throwing up for days, and it scared her, not that she could speak her feelings out loud. Losing her parents blunted her emotions so that she doesn’t mind going with them. At least that is what she tells herself. The reason why she hasn’t let any of her friends in. She wants to end it all, but a pinch of her still clings to life. Or maybe she is too much of a coward to do it properly, so she wastes away, waiting for the King of the underworld to claim her. Adira tenderly patted her best friend’s back as she continued to vomit. She winced at the constant dry heave, her stomach reacting to the unpleasant smell and sound. “Do you

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Fifty-One: Red

Kendra arrived at her destination at night. What she was here for cannot be dealt with in the light of day. She parked her car and walked up to one of the run-down buildings lining the street. This one had superhero graffiti all over its wall. When Kendra approached the mental door, someone pulled the hatch sideways, revealing a tiny opening and two pairs of dark brown eyes staring through it. "Password," the man behind the eyes grunted at Kendra. “Kill”The door unlatched and opened to let Kendra in. This entrance is different from the main entrance, which anyone can access. Kendra followed the olive-skinned guy dressed in black down the narrow stairs leading into the club. The club isn’t why Kendra is here, but to see the man who runs the club. Red. He got his nickname from his obsession with redheads. Red, whose real name is Dante Marceli, is an Italian immigrant. His family migrated to America in the 1980s, and since then, the Marcellis have settled here. They formed the It

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Fifty: Her lies

As Kendra drove through the busy city streets, her thoughts lingered in the town she had just left, specifically her sister. The reason her father wanted to see her after he let her out was to send her on a mission to find the rogue who had attacked two of their own. Kendra is always happy to kill a rogue. She lives for it and relishes the death of every rogue under her blade or gun. But this time, something feels different. She doesn’t feel that burning excitement that makes her feel alive. For the first time, she worries about making it back from a hunt. Her sister has made her soft, Kendra concludes with a musing smile, but without a drop of regret in her expression. She reached for her stereo to turn on the music. While she listened to the loud, funky music pouring out of her stereo, her thoughts pivoted to her sister. She regretted not waiting to see her before she left, but her father insisted on her leaving as soon as possible. She hoped her sister would find the letter

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Forty-Nine: Meeting an empty room

It has been a hard week for Jake. He hasn’t spoken to Adira in the past few days. After their altercation in front of the blonde’s room, they kept their distance. Their friends have tried to find out what is happening between the couples, but neither is talking. Jake isn’t the only one having a nightmarish week; Adira is going through her own hell for a different reason. Kendra’s confinement has taken its toll on the blonde. Over the past few days, she had operated most days absentmindedly, her heart aching and longing for her sister. Most attributed her vacant stares and loss of concentration to the friction between her and Jake, but honestly, the blonde hardly gave the boy a second thought. Harsh, yes, but Adira couldn’t help who her heart longs for. She has been using her fingers to count the days until her sister is free again, until she can be in her arms, until she makes love to her again. Never in her eighteen years of existence has the blonde longed for another’s touch lik

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Forty-Eight: I have a mission for you

Outside Adira’s room, Jake stood with a closed-off expression, his arms folded across his chest, his stance rigid. He looked as if prepared for a fight. His confrontational stance confused the pair of green eyes watching him. Adira doesn’t know what is responsible for Jake’s sudden hostility towards her. The boy has always been mild-mannered, especially when it came to her. “What is going on with you?” She asked curiously, with a hint of concern in her voice. Jake’s tall frame quaked with renewed fury at Adira’s question. The blonde is supposed to know. That he has to spell out what is wrong between them annoys the hell out of him. Instead of answering Adira’s question, he fires his own. “Do you not love me anymore?” Despite his hardened expression, his shaky voice betrayed his inner vulnerability. This is his innermost fear: Losing the blonde’s love, and with everything that happened these past few weeks, he believes the blonde to be losing interest in him, and for the life of hi

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Forty-Seven: Her insolence

“Meredith!” Adira called out as soon as she cleared the corner leading into the living room, her concerned green eyes searching for her best friend. Meredith springs out of the Luna's grasp and launches herself at Adira at the sound of her name from a voice she has been longing to hear. Today has been a day of confusion and pain, and she does not know how to deal with the pain. It hurts so much. Adira braced herself in time to catch the blonde, her heart going out to her best friend. “I have got you, baby,” she whispers tenderly to the blonde, her hand rubbing gently at her back in comfort. The Luna felt glad to see her youngest. She was at a loss for how to console her daughter’s best friend. No child should experience the loss of a parent. Kendra's eyes flickered briefly in Adira’s direction, and as if Adira was expecting her to look, she looked toward Kendra as well. Their eyes met and held briefly before moving away. “So what are we going to do?” Alpha Conor asked loudly,

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Forty-six: A threat from rogues

When Kendra and Adira arrived at the Pack house, they found a group of their people gathered in the front yard, most of them sad. They stepped down from the car and approached the crowd, confused. The tense, mournful atmosphere made the two women feel anxious, though Kendra was better at hiding her feelings. The brunette lightly touched her sister’s back to get her attention. The blonde looked at her, her green eyes filled with questions. Kendra wanted to pull her into her arms and assure her that everything was going to be alright, but she didn’t even know what was going on. She needed to find answers. “I need to find our father,” she said to the blonde, her voice soft. Adira nods. “I will go find my friends.” The sisters exchanged tender looks before parting ways. Kendra walked into the Pack house, where she knew their parents would be, while Adira waded through the crowd of onlookers looking for her friends. It didn’t take long for her to find them, or
