~Odessa~

Morning arrived with summer at its fingertips. Melting the frost winter had left behind. Not only upon the earth, but within the chambers of the heart that had forgotten how to beat without fear.

It poured sunlight into the disappointed soul, warming the places where hope had once gone silent.

It did not erase winter, but it taught me that where fear once planted, confidence began to bloom. Where, doubt, lost hope, and scars gathered their blocks, courage laid its foundation.

And hope—h

Yeah finally! Thank youuu Ink Sipper for the comments 😭 Thank youuuuu🤭 To all of us who have read up to this point, the last two chapters I updated have a little change. Instead of using 'President' for the FL and ML positions in the company, I will be using 'CEO' instead from now on. But that doesn't mean their position in the company has changed. Their positions remain the same, only the name of their positions has changed. Thank youuu all for the motivation 😘

"I see no reason for you to panic, Kane. Even though I gave Adrian the fake information, I still saved that woman from the cruelty of her family. I also cleared all information in Noan town. There would be no information leading to us," The more I listened, the more my heart continued to pound."What if he mistakenly finds out?""He will still have no reason to come for you, if that's what you're so afraid of. Kane, the only place you had a hand in this is in the surgery; I don't understand why you should panic more than I do. I'm the one who would be faced with everything. He doesn't even understand what I do for him. Imagine where he would be by now if I hadn't thought of a way out for him," Mother sounded more pissed."Then again, you decided to get yourself in trouble too by threatening to take the woman from him. Tell me, Kane, why would you even make such a threat to your alpha?"And that was where the recording ended because it felt as though the person recording had shifted as

  • FROSTBOUND    96 — The Truth

~Adrian~"Rhea, what happened? Why is your face that way?" I rose to my feet, worried to see her in that manner, with tears slowly gathering around her eyes."I'm sorry, Adrian." She took my hands."I didn't know that my suggestion earlier would be misunderstood by the board. I only wanted to help her go through her difficult times. I know you two had rejected my offer at first, but I couldn't bring myself not wanting to help out considering all Juliana had done for me," Rhea's tears began to fall as I gradually reached to wipe them off."No one is blaming you for anything. No one is against you for what you said," I tried to assure her. Not in any way had I taken her offer the wrong way. I knew how much Rhea was always concerned about Juliana; they had been very good friends before Juliana passed away."If that is so, why does it feel like everyone is against me helping her, like I'm forcing myself into what I shouldn't. I was...""Shhh," I whispered, leaning closer and wrapping her i

  • FROSTBOUND    95 — Restless

~Adrian~ I paced the space of my office, everything that happened in the board meeting replaying in my head. I'd instantly adjourned the meeting to the next two days immediately after she ran off, with the reason in order to give her time to rework on her designs. "Fuck," I muttered under my breath, running my hand through my hair. "What the heck is happening to you, Adrian? Try to focus your mind," I cursed yet my mind refused to work as I wanted it to. The images kept replaying in my head. The way her face had withered the moment her presentation wasn't approved, the hurt in her eyes when she pulled up that composure and excused herself, that tear I saw in her eyes the moment I followed her out of the boardroom, and her response when she said, "Go away, Adrian. I just want to be alone," That sounded like she was broken from inside when I tried to call her back. She had refused to listen to me, refused to let me talk to her, and locked herself in the restroom and refused to com

  • FROSTBOUND    94 — The Presentation

~Odessa~Wednesday morning came with the air buzzing, every department busy with the preparation for the month's event. 11: 00 am, it was time for the board meeting that had been rescheduled. It was time for my presentation."Alright, Sia you in an hour, Ember," I told Ember who I had left with handling the other important work in the office."Are you sure you don't want me to come?" Ember asked concerned, she had offered earlier to help her with the presentation, since she was just returning to the office and it might be difficult for her to cope with everything, but that would give Adrian more reason to look down on me, so I was not going to spare him that opportunity."I'm sure I can handle this myself. You don't need to worry about me.""Alright ma'am, see you later," Ember nodded."See you later, Ember," I responded, leaving the office with my tablet in my hand.By the time I arrived at the boardroom, Adrian and other board members were already seated behind the table, Margaret

  • FROSTBOUND    93 — Work For Me

~Adrian~"Do you think that what I said would be believable enough? That it would get rid of the public queries?" I asked Derek who was seated across from me with his hands crossed over his chest a few minutes after the interviewer had left my office.Derek had arranged for one as I ordered him to, and after having to sit in front of the camera and say those words, I truly hope that when it gets to the public, that would be enough for them to keep their mouth shut and face their lives."I am one hundred percent sure that it will work. No one will question her accident anymore with what you told the public. And that's a normal believable circumstance that can happen to anyone and cause an accident.""And it's also a good thing that you were the one who personally addressed the issue. Leaving it to Madam Margaret to speak about it would have been a bad idea, because people are going to ask about why it's always her and not you," Derek said with a strong affirmation.I nodded, my mind cr

  • FROSTBOUND    92 — Emotion Blind Judgement

~Odessa~"Ember, my mother-in-law told me you've worked here for four years, right?" I looked up from my laptop where I was scrolling through some designs."Yes, ma'am. I've been here since the launch of the company's first magazine album. Though I only started working as your assistant last year." Elsa answered. Today, we were working on choosing the best designs for the upcoming annual fashion show which has already been scheduled to begin in a week's time. The excitement had been in the air when I arrived this morning, with every staff member jubilant to have an opportunity to showcase their talent, star in the company's TV shows, and trend on all social media. The task this morning was to pick out the best design collections that would be presented to the board for approval before they would be showcased in the event."So... that means, you've known everyone here so well too." I went further to ask, keeping my gaze a little focused on her as she looked up meeting mine."Yes, I do.
