Sitting beside him.

The medical hallway outside the clinic room felt too quiet compared to the chaos downstairs.

Students were still celebrating the win somewhere around the hotel arena, but up here, everything sounded softer.

Muted.

I stood outside the door for a few seconds longer than necessary, staring at the small sign beside it.

*Athlete Recovery Room.*

My stomach still hadn’t settled properly since Aaron fell.

Coach Bennett had stopped me earlier while I was wandering near the lobby.

“Relax,” he had said.

  • Fake dating the School King   She's with me.

*Allison's POV* The first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes was Aaron. Not the sunlight slipping through my curtains. Not the soft sound of the birds outside.Aaron.He sat comfortably on the chair near my bed like he belonged there, one ankle resting over his knee while fixing the cuff of his sleeve. His damp golden-brown curls looked softer this morning, slightly messy from sleep, and the hoodie he wore earlier had been replaced with a clean white shirt that fit him unfairly well.I stared at him silently for a few seconds before realizing he was talking.“…already called the driver,” he continued casually. “He’s bringing my uniform and he’ll come back again to take us to school.”Then his eyes lifted toward me.A slow smirk appeared on his face.“Guess my girl finally decided to wake up.”Heat instantly rushed to my cheeks.“Yeah.” I mumbled tiredly. "Why didn't you wake me up earlier?""I tried.""Seriously?" I asked looking at me.“You looked cute sleeping,” He leaned back

  • Fake dating the School King   I want you.

The moment she stepped aside and whispered, “Come in,” something inside me settled slightly. Not fully.Just enough to breathe again.Rainwater dripped from my hoodie onto the floor as I stepped inside carefully. The warmth of the house hit immediately, but it still didn’t calm my heartbeat.Allison closed the door behind me before turning quickly.“My mom isn’t home,” she said softly. “She’s working overnight.”I nodded once. But honestly? I barely heard anything after that.Because she was standing too close.Loose blouse. Messy blonde hair. Bare legs disappearing beneath the oversized fabric. And those eyes watching me too carefully again.“Why did you walk under the rain?” she asked.A tired smile pulled at my mouth. “I needed to tell you something.”“That urgent?”I nodded once.“Come upstairs so you can dry up a little.” She said leading the way.I followed her silently. The entire walk upstairs felt strangely intimate. Just the sound of rain outside and our footsteps. No audi

  • Fake dating the School King   The one I chose.

The moment the bus finally pulled into Parkview’s parking lot, everybody looked half dead.Nationals was over.We won.The entire ride back felt quieter than the trip there.Still loud because my teammates physically didn’t know how to shut up, but different.Exhausted different.I leaned back against the seat while pulling my phone out."Bring the car around."I sent the text to my driver before looking up again.Across from me, Vanessa was asleep with her mouth slightly open while two cheerleaders were still scrolling through videos from nationals.“Allison,” one of them whispered dramatically, “your face when Aaron fell was actually insane.”Allison groaned softly beside me. “Please don’t start again.”“I’m serious,” Vanessa mumbled sleepily without opening her eyes. “You looked ready to fight God.”I looked away quickly to hide my smile.Beside me, Allison crossed her arms. “They’re all dramatic.”“Not really,” I muttered. She looked at me slowly. “You’re enjoying this too much.”

  • Fake dating the School King   Busted

*Aaron’s POV* The hotel looked completely destroyed the next morning.Open suitcases. Shoes scattered everywhere. Half-zipped bags. Basketball jerseys hanging over chairs.Nationals was officially over. And…We won.I sat on the edge of my bed scrolling through my phone while my duffel bag stayed completely unpacked on the floor.Coach Bennett had already texted the group chat three times.DOWNSTAIRS IN THIRTY. DON’T BE LATE. YES THIS INCLUDES YOU BRIGGS.I smirked slightly. Then my door suddenly opened without warning.“Everybody’s downstairs already,” Mason, my teammate said while walking in halfway. “And Coach said if you miss the bus, he’s leaving you.”“Whatever,” I replied lazily.I stood up slowly, grabbing my hoodie from the chair.Mason looked around my room before shaking his head. “Captain room really looks different.”“That’s because I’m important.” I replied. We both laughed. The moment we entered the lobby downstairs, noise immediately hit us.Cheerleaders everywhere.

  • Fake dating the School King   Ended.

I woke up exhausted. Not physically.Mentally.Like my brain had spent the entire night replaying things it shouldn’t have been replaying.Aaron’s voice. His eyes. The way he touched me.I groaned softly and pulled the blanket over my face for a second before forcing myself up.Morning light spilled through the curtains, too bright and way too cheerful for how tired I felt.Across the room, Vanessa sat on Paige’s bed while Paige braided part of her hair absentmindedly.“…I’m telling you, Crestwell Academy students are annoyingly attractive,” Vanessa said, scrolling through her phone.Paige snorted softly. “You say that about every school.” “Because every year rich schools keep producing models instead of students.”That made me glance up slightly.Crestwell Academy.Today’s opponent.Another elite school.Another school filled with expensive watches, polished accents, luxury cars waiting back home and students who looked like they belonged in magazine campaigns instead of basketball

  • Fake dating the School King   Just us.

I pushed the door open and stepped into the room like my bones had decided to stop cooperating.Coach had talked for what felt like hours about strategy, discipline, “focus under pressure,” all those words that start to blur together when you’re tired and just trying to breathe.I removed my hoodie and placed it on the bed.“I swear,” I muttered, rubbing my neck, “that man can turn a five-minute talk into a life lecture.”Vanessa looked up from her phone, stretched lazily on her bed. “You mean the speech where he basically told us we’re either champions or disappointments depending on tomorrow?”“Exactly that one.”She nodded like she was taking notes. “That's the usual. I can imagine how hard he is making the players practice right now.”"Yeah. Too bad for them." I said stretching on the bed.Paige sat down crossing her legs on her bed, flipping through something on her phone, but not really reading it. She looked up for a second when I came in, then back down again.Just observant
