ANNALISE…I don’t answer him; I recover my steps and continue to run as fast and as quietly as I can. I then hear Hugo in my head and this time I do stumble and end up rolling to a stop on the ground as he growls,“ANNALISE! RETURN TO ME!” I can’t stop the scream of pain that leaves my lips as I fight the Alpha command within his tone and then the slave mark on my shoulder burns and sends intense pain streaming through my body at the fact that I am still fighting his outright command. I lean forward, curling in on myself as I continue to fight the command to go back to him, to do as he says.After a few moments with tears streaming down my cheeks, I struggle to my feet and try to run but with each step I take in the opposite direction to where he is the more pain that gets sent through my body from my slave mark and my heart.
