Marion POV Before I could understand what was going on, I was shoved hard and sent stumbling back. If it wasn't for Chase's driver who was trailing behind us carrying his hospital bag, I would have landed on the rough floor butt first. However, Chase was not so lucky. With my support gone, he stumbled and managed to stop himself...but that cost him stepping down with his injured leg. What followed was a painful groan that sent my mind into reset factory. I propped myself up before rushing to him and helping him stabilize his footing." Jesus Christ are you okay?" I asked, panic clawing through me. Amidst the frown on his face, he gave me a reassuring smile...or at least that's what he intended to. Only that it did nothing to reassure me. If anything, it made me feel guilty." I'm okay." He said only to hiss at the end. He was not okay. Of course he wasn't.Without thinking... which I didn't need at this point...I turned around and faced the culprit responsible for almost leaving me j
Marion I stood at the door, a bouquet of flowers in my hands, contemplating whether to knock and face Chase Hudson or wait until he was wheeled out of his room by the nurse.I settled with facing him. Today was my first time day at work. I was professional enough to forget everything that was said yesterday and be who I was hired to be... Chase Hudson's personal nurse.I knocked once before pushing the door open, a smile plastered on my face." Good morning Mr Hudson. Are you excited to be discharged?" I asked, trying to play the part. Chase looked up from his phone where he had been staring. He eyed the flowers in my hand before raising his brows at me." Someone might think you are visiting your lover." He commented. Of course he would make such an uncomfortable comment even after I tried so hard to build a good start for our patient-nurse relationship." A small gesture to start our journey on a good note." I replied, placing the flowers by his bed." You are not that good an actr
Marion POV I sat across Coach Williams with a pen in my hand. Before me on the table sat the employment contract between me and Chase Hudson. My fingers hovered on the last page where my signature would be sitting. I lifted my face and looked at coach Williams. He still had that smile on his face. " I read your resume and I know you are perfect for this job." That's what he replied when I asked me why he chose me and patiently gave me time to think about his offer to care for Chase Hudson. I was good in my job but to coach Williams, I was someone who could handle Chase Hudson's inflated ego. Although he didn't tell me, I heard that Chase had already dismissed three nurses appointed to take care of him. I sighed, closed my eyes momentarily, my mind reminding me why I was doing this. This money was the only ticket to mine and my sister's safety. With that, I penned down my signature and passed the thing to Coach Williams who took it grinning from ear to ear. " You won't r
" You did what?" Mabel shouted, standing up from the couch too fast. She had a look of disapproval written all over her face. " I know it's just the two of us but can you keep it down?" I suggested, rubbing my temples. I could already feel a migraine creeping in. After leaving Finn's house with a shattered heart and a bruised ego, I came all the way to my best friend's house. I needed someone to talk to before I actually ended up doing something crazy. The betrayal stung but what hurt the most is being called an embarrassment. After everything I did for him? I know that's a clinge line but it was true. I had done so much, sacrificed so much for Finn. " Don't ask me to keep it down." Mabel snapped, frustration bleeding in her words. " I can accept you ending things with Finn. After all, that bastard never deserved you or your love. However, I can't accept that you turned down such a good offer because of that ungrateful conniving bitch. " Mabel lamented. I could not help but
I was the biggest fool to ever exist. That is what kept running through my mind as I stood at the entrance of Finn's apartment.I clutched my pouch so hard I almost tore through the leather. Standing there and watching Finn, my boyfriend, propose to another woman, I felt stupid.I had wanted to surprise him. That was the plan…show up and celebrate this milestone with him. Then I would watch his face when I told him I'd landed a job at North Wolves, his new hockey club.I had been rehearsing his reaction the entire drive over. The way he'd grab me, filled with excitement and say “ I knew you'd get it.”Instead I was the one getting surprised.Finn had always wanted to join the North Wolves since college. However, he did not get shortlisted. After three years of playing with Black steel, he eventually got poached for a post at North wolves after a player resigned. He was over the moon when he got the news. After signing the contract, he told me he wanted to throw a party to celebrat
