Chapter 1

Six Years Later.

Chresanto’s Pov

Outside, the sky was gloomy. Heavy clouds hover over it creating a tense atmosphere. It would rain soon.

It rumbled softly outside, causing a small chill to run down my spine immediately I stepped out of the plane as I had just arrived New-York.

I shrugged it off and made a way to find a taxi. The airport was parked with so many people, some who desired to leave, some who were seeing off a loved one and some with a signed board that showed clearly they came to receive someone.

Mom and Dad claimed they were too busy to pick me up, and I didn’t want to disturb Chris since he has the company already draining him down.

I stood outside for about a few minutes waiting for a vacant taxi to drive in but it seemed hopeless, since they were either booked by someone or already had a passenger.

At last one stopped right in front of me, clutching the small bag which I held in my left hand tighter, I hurried closer towards the taxi.

I couldn’t make it inside the taxi as I was pushed away by someone. My feet’s dribbled a few steps backward while I managed to keep my balance.

“Sorry” An unfamiliar voice murmured from inside the taxi. She seemed somewhat in a hurry and I also didn’t want to waste anymore time at the airport as it would be harder to get home if the rain finally succeeds in accomplishing it’s obvious mission.

I got into the vehicle and then instructed the taxi driver to drive.

“I’m really sorry” The lady said again after a few minutes the driver took off.

My big brown chocolate eyes stopped to stare at her. Her light red hair seemed to compliment her well tanned fair complexion, her blue eyes stared obviously sorry at me, her clothes seemed rather decent but a little bit haggard.

I didn’t get to reply since the sound of her phone ringing cut the both of our stares and she replied immediately, placing the phone in between her left ear “Rina? No baby I’m almost there” She spoke into the phone while she sat even more upright as if wanting to tell the driver to hurry up.

“Babe” She said again after a few minutes “Stay strong baby, I’ll be there soon” She said again while she ended the call.

Her boyfriend maybe, Was my conclusion. Why else would a lady appear so disorganize and sorry. A boyfriend who takes her for granted.

“Make a left turn please” She told the driver while she searched for something I assumed to be money in her bag “Right here, yes stop right here” She moved her eyes swiftly to took at the road and then it was back to her bag.

The taxi came to a stop while she searched through her bag which was too haggard for her to be able to even find a dollar bill.

“Do not worry” I spoke for the first time, stopping her from searching even further “It’s on me” I told her.

Her blue eyes looked up at me surprised while she shook her head disapprovingly “I’m sorry for the inconvenience sir, just give me a minute and I’ll get it” She refused.

“I insist” I told her, after thanking me she exited the vehicle while the driver headed further towards my home.

About 20 minutes we arrived at a big house which can be referred to as a mansion. The silver gate was opened after I had mentioned who I was and the driver drove down and came to a stop just outside the door.

I paid him both the fare of the lady and mine and then exited the car. The scent of mom’s popular pancakes graced me as soon as I stepped into the sitting room.

Harry, the chauffeur hurriedly took my bag to my room while dad pulled me into an embrace “It’s been five years son, I thought you were never going to come home” Dad said to me while I laughed in return.

“Is that Chres” Mom’s voice called out from the kitchen “Chres” She called again but this time her voice seemed even closer.

“I wouldn’t if I had a choice” I replied jokingly to dad while I pulled out of his embrace.

“Oh Chres” Mom called “My boy Chres” She pulled me into a hug while tears of Joy ran down her eyes.

“Not again” I groaned at her crying nature while dad just laughed it off like it was a normal thing.

My body tensed up immediately I received a smack at the back of my head “This is what you get for not visiting me during these five years” Mom told me “How on earth can you do that to your mother?” And the tears were back again.

“Mom?” I released myself from her hold while I moved further to place a kiss on her forehead “You know I care a lot about you” I told her and her eyes softened.

“You got me there” Mom replied with a smile that started to creep into her face“My pancakes” Mom screamed running towards the kitchen.

“She never changes” I laughed while dad also joined me in laughing. “I thought you were too busy to pick me up” I said to dad after we had both sat down.

“It was your mom’s idea” Dad raised his hands up like he surrenders “How was study at Canada” Dad asked smiling.

I had left both mom and Dad and Chris my twin, to study business administration and management at Canada “Good” I nodded while my eyes roamed around the sitting room.

Everything was in place just as it was five years ago except from the furnitures which seemed to have been changed to something even more fancier “And Chris?” I asked paying attention to the curtain which I had just noticed was different from the one before.

“Working as usual” Dad groaned “Sometimes I feel he’s much more into work than he is with us, his family” Dad added, slightly scratching his hair.

“I’ll go freshen up and then come down for dinner” I said to Dad while I headed towards my old room.
