Marry Me

She was not supposed to be concerned or nervous but she was. Ugh. She got out of the elevator when it landed on the last floor and all through the ride the thought of what this guy has to say to her has been at the top of her head.

She ran a hand through her hair and tucker it behind her hair as she walked out of the building. Sure enough, she spotted his car on the road side right in front of her. He didn't even bother to check who'd came out of the building. Could this guy care any less? And besides, seriously, she was making a big mistake seeing him.

She walked over to the passenger seat beside the driver's side, opened the door and walked in.

Nothing as small of a greeting. He just started the car and started to drive.

Lena was seriously pissed and even annoyed at herself but more at him

"Where are we going?"

She asked nonchalantly but deep down she was angry.

"Nowhere in particular really. Just someplace less busy."

She said nothing and just stared right out through the window throughout the drive. The wound up going to a park of some sort and he brought her to lean against the rail so they could overlook the river flowing.

Neither of them said anything for a while but only because Lena did not want to choose violence. But sooner or later she soon will because she was starting to loose her patience.

"Why did you bring me here?"

She asked in a small and gentle voice

"Are there cameras on me or something?"

"No"

"Then why are we here?"

"I wanted to talk to you about something"

"What is thing that couldn't be said on the phone?"

"Because it cannot be said on the phone. If you think you don't have time, trust me, I have a very tight schedule and bringing you out here this evening is a hand to the neck"

She cocked her head at him, squinting as if to get a better look at the person talking to her.

"Are you talking to me?"

"So, I was thinking -"

"Hold it right there. Look, Mark or whatever your name is called, ish, God help me. I've been holding on to my patience. I've been trying, but you're getting on my nerves. You speak to me like you're boss or I'm beneath you or something. You're cocky and stupid. Just so you know, your manners and gait is below zero. You brought me out here and now shit. And that was what you did at my parents house.

Telling me not to tell Alicia that we fucked like I'm your, your slut. Tell me, how did she know? How dare you tell her when you told me not to?"

He shifted his weight to his other leg as he looked at her with lazy eyes

"First of all, I didn't ask for your opinion about my attitude, second of all, I did not tell Alicia that we had something together."

"You're sick"

She said looking him straight in the eyes, retreated and started to walk away.

"Don't be so dramatic Lena. What I brought you here for is going to benefit you a great deal"

"I don't want your stupid help"

She yelled without looking at him stumping away.

He rolled his eyes and went to get her and she snatched her hand away immediately he grabbed her hand.

"Okay, please stay. Is that what you want?"

"No. Maybe when you learn to respect me, You can come back for my help."

She started to walk away again.

"Okay, Please, I'm sorry for being annoying or anything you are thinking right now. But please stay"

She eyed him

"You literally just said that as if you read that out of a paper."

"Well, obviously I didn't"

"I really hate you"

"A lot of people share the kind of feeling that you have for me"

"Just shut up."

She said looking him square in the eyes. After looking around and calming herself for a full minute, she opened her mouth.

"Now what is it?"

"I want to ask you to marry me"

She made a disgusted face

"Is that why you brought me here today? And is this what you said would benefit me? How is marrying you going to benefit me?"

"Trust me it would"

"No. I would never marry you."

She said with that face still on

He just exhaled and drew a paper out of his pocket.

"Here. I had my lawyer draw up this. Read it"

She slowly took it, shook it unnecessarily and brought it to her view. It was a contract apparently, She skimmed her eyes through it. It wasn't a long one but she now took her time to read it. It stated that if she be his wife just for a year, maximum, two years, that she was going to acquire a lot of benefits as in, cars, money, a lot of money, trips, whatever she wanted, literally anything she wanted...

She scoffed and looked at him.

"What is this?"

"I assume you already read it"

"No, I want you to say it with your own mouth"

"I want you to marry me, and if you do, you would get all what is in the paper"

"Are you this rich?"

"More than"

She eyed him

"Really? And how do I trust that?"

"Because I rarely lie"

"I don't believe you"

She scoffed.

"Why do you want me to marry you in the first place?"

"Do you want the blunt answer or a coated lie?"

"The blunt one"

She said folding her hands underneath her breasts. He didn't so much as eye it.

"You sister has turned down my ring apparently and the wedding must go on"

"First of all, she's my cousin. And why the hell must the wedding go on?"

"Because it's better for my buisness"

"What buisness?"

"Must you know everything?"

"Well, I'm about to marry you so, mustn't I know things about you?"

"You'll know later."

She eyed him again.

"What was the coated answer?"

"I don't have a coated answer. I figured you probably would want the blunt answer."

Lena looked away for a moment.

"Take me home"

"What time should I pick you up tomorrow?"

"To do what?" She asked as they started to walk away to the car.

"To sign the contract"

"I never said I would marry you yet. I'm going to have a good think about this first"

He released a breath.

"And how many days is that going to take you?"

"I don't know, a week?"

"I'll pick you up tomorrow. The wedding is next week for fucks sake"

"Wait, at the same date? Wait, how is this wedding going to take place? Is my family going to be there or what?"

"No. But tomorrow when you come over, we will discuss all that"

****

"You have to take up on this offer"

Vero said getting to her feet

"Why? Something tells me not to"

"Well, you better tell that stupid feeling to keep shut. Lena. This is a breakthrough for you. You don't have to work or pay for this crappy apartment anymore. You finally have the man you want."

"Even though it's a contract?"

"What? Both of you would fall in love with each other within the space of a year"

"Uh... Veronica, I don't know"

"Listen, I know what's best for you. Your cousin must be very stupid to let go of this kind of offer"

"I think he truly loved her. Because I don't think he proposed this kind of thing to her in the first place. He's just using me to replace her"

"A win is a win my sister"

"You're only doing this because it would also benefit you too"

"Well, yes, in a way. But you have to take this. I did not even know these kinds of things happen in real life Lena. Take it. Imagine the kind of adventures you would go on. You can even go all over the world. Anywhere and anytime you want. This is great for you. And besides, it says here that you can seek out other people if you like"

"Really? I didn't see that. Lemme see"

Vero gave the paper to her

"Last paragraph"

Lena confirmed it and gasped

"I did not even see that. Wow"

"See? Now, take it. You're going to marry that dickhead"
