LOGINGabbriette
“What did you just say?” Briar almost screamed as her eyes bulged out of their sockets.
“You heard me right,” I whisper-yelled so that the teacher didn't hear me.
“You want to ask Ashton Evander to be your boyfriend?” she said. “That's a terrible idea.”
The truth was that for the longest time, I'd always loved Ashton. I kept my virginity for him, and I was planning on giving him my first. He was the reason why I'd never dated or had sex with anyone in my eighteen years of life.
For as long as I could remember, every gentle look, every hug he’d ever given me, every conversation we'd ever had, I stored in my heart like a quiet promise.
But it seemed as though to him, I was off-limits. I was simply his best friend’s kid sister.
But I would find out where I stand. Today.
The bell went off, and all students moved to the field to watch the playoffs between my school's team, the Westbrook Wolves and a rival team, Blackridge Tigers.
___________
Our school won the game.
The Wolves won the game, which meant only one thing.
I had to ask Ashton out tonight, and then, I would give him my virginity.
I had it all planned out. Heck….I'd even waxed, and that shit was so painful. I dressed up in a pretty pink dress and wore heels… Yes, I was wobbling like a newborn calf in them, but I wore them nonetheless.
Briar had made me let my hair out of its pigtails so they fell across my back, scratching my skin and making me hot.
I clutched my solo cup, my eyes darting around for any sign of Briar.
We had come to the party together—the football afterparty that The Wolves threw each time they won a game. It was held at Ashton's house as usual, as he was team captain.
Briar had convinced me tonight would be the best time to ask him out, in her words. “He'll probably be so drunk that he won't know when he says yes.”
I spotted Hunter alongside some of his friends and a small crowd of girls… but no Ashton.
“What the hell are you wearing?” Hunter couldn't suppress his incredulous chuckle. “And what are you doing here? Who invited you?”
A few curious stares turned in my direction.
Asshole!
“I got an invite from Ashton,” I replied defiantly.
I didn't.
“You look hideous in that dress, and those heels make your skinny legs look like a giraffe’s,” Hunter said, and all his friends roared with laughter.
I smirked as a crazy idea crossed my mind. “Oh dear twin brother, do I look like a giraffe? What does that make you—a giraffe's sibling?”
All eyes turned to him, and colour drained from his face.
“She's crazy. I don't know what she's talking about. I'm not her brother!” he said, but they didn't look convinced.
“Wait till Mom hears about that,” I said with a grin before walking off.
Gosh! That felt good.
He wanted to shame me? Uno reverse card.
Where was Briar when she was needed? She would have laughed her head off if she were here.
After she helped me dress and escorted me here, she went completely missing. Given her flirty nature, I wasn't surprised. I had an inkling that she'd caught her next unfortunate victim.
I texted her. “Hey, Briar. Where are you?”
I knew she wouldn't answer until she was done with her new plaything, but a girl could only hope.
The music from the party blasted loudly, almost destroying my eardrums. I dropped the Solo cup onto the beer pong table; the smell of the rum was making me nauseous anyway.
I looked down at my phone, trying to call Ashton, but it kept going to voicemail.
Frustrated, I gulped the alcohol that burned my throat. I knew I wasn't supposed to because I was still under the legal drinking age, but fuck it anyway.
Tonight was not going as planned… at all.
I spotted one of Ashton's teammates, Viktor, and I walked up to him.
Startled, he knocked his Molly off the table and swore.
“Sorry, um… have you seen Ashton?” I asked, scared as he stared at me through bloodshot eyes.
“Upstairs!’ he said, pointing, irritated that I'd distracted him from whatever he was doing.
“Thanks,” I muttered as I climbed the stairs to find Ashton’s bedroom.
I climbed the stairs, weaving through the many people dancing, laughing, making out. The pungent smell of weed was thick in the air.
I knocked on several doors until I reached Ashton's. They were all occupied.
When I reached his room, I was about to open the door when I heard a familiar moan.
I stopped in my tracks, pressing my ear to the door to listen closely.
“Oh Ashton,” she moaned, her voice unmistakable. “I love the way you make me so wet.”
My ears rang as disbelief washed over me.
“I can't believe Gabby thinks she can get you to fuck her,” she moaned loudly. “She's just a silly kid and a virgin.”
My pulse quickened as my palms grew clammy.
“Yes, Ashton… hmm. Oh, that's so good. Fuck…”
I almost collapsed as I listened, confirming what I already knew to be the truth.
Then came Ashton's unmistakable moan. “Uh… so tight.”
My phone fell from my clammy palms, crashing onto the ground as my mouth fell open in disbelief.
The guy I'd trusted to take my virginity tonight was currently having sex with my best friend?
Unbelievable!
This would be the boldest move I would make in my life. To walk past the phone cameras, the flashlights and all these rich, snobby teenagers arm-in-arm with our school's biggest rival player, Mason Vane, all to get back at Ashton.I sucked in a deep breath. Mason and I were in one of the empty bathrooms because I was having a panic attack.“Relax,” he chuckled. “Breathe… shit, one would think I was walking you down the aisle.”“You wish!” I bit back instantly, trying to hide my nervousness. My palms were getting clammy already. His eyes roved over me, making me uncomfortable.“What?” I snapped.“Oh, nothing.” He gave that cocky grin of his as he popped a mint into his mouth. “Just that you look like an angel today.”Under different circumstances, his compliment might have flustered me. But Mason had a talent for making sincerity and sarcasm sound exactly alike.“Ha ha ha. Very funny,” I deadpanned. “And you look like the devil himself… as always.”“Touché.” He grinned, but his eyes ne
That was it!I was done waiting for Ashton to open his eyes. I was done waiting for him to love me the way I deserved.I was tired of living by his own rules, tired of the way he saw me as nothing but a kid to be protected from afar, never a woman to be loved. If this was what it took for me to finally open my eyes, for me to realize my worth, the message was received loud and clear. The music playing began to ring in my ears as I stumbled down the stairs, my hands clutched the railings as a cold sweat ran down my spine.Briar and Ashton had betrayed me tonight in a way I would never forget. And I'll be damned if I didn't get my revenge.Tears blurred my vision as I pushed through the crowd. My head throbbed, and nausea rolled through my stomach, but I barely noticed the curious stares following me.I needed air. Space. Somewhere I could fall apart without an audience.Because if I stayed another minute, I might do something I'd never be able to take back.I scrambled out of Ashton’s

GabbrietteI got up, embarrassment written all over my face.“Well, there goes our lunch,” Hunter rolled his eyes.Only Ashton got up and tried to help me, but Madame Colette had already seen the disaster. She ran over to the table, a mortified look on her face as she gasped melodramatically. “Mon Dieu! What have you done, Gabbriette!”I attempted to pack up the broken mugs and stained trays, looking for a mop to wipe away the liquid that was staining the marble.“Apologies.” Madame Colette bowed towards Hunter and his friends. I caught Avery and the other girls giggling.“Are you okay?” Ashton asked me worriedly.Well, I was now…“You're fired!” Madame Collete yelled at me, cutting my moment with Ashton short, once again.Spoke too soon. I am not okay.“Please, ma'am,” I pleaded, forcing my best puppy teary eyes. “It was a mistake. It won't happen again.”“Leave the café,” she yelled at me before turning to Briar. “Clean up this mess!”Briar shot me an apologetic look as she grabbed
GabbrietteSometimes, I forget to breathe…Like today, I can feel my heart thrumming in my chest as I watch his eyes devour me and feel his warm breath fanning my parted lips.Ashton Evander. His fingers tangle in my hair, and then I feel his lips on mine—at first, slow, then filled with passion- and I let out a strangled moan. This was bad; I wasn't supposed to be feeling my brother's best friend's boner pressed up against my thighs, my tongue deep into his mouth. But let's just say life had other plans._____________________(A few days before)“I hate this job,” I muttered to myself as I cleaned the tabletop of the café. I could see my supervisor, Madame Colette, glaring at me—the asshat who had refused to pay my salary for going on three months now.“Me too,” my best friend and co-worker, Briar, groaned. The smell of croissant and god knows what else wafted through my nostrils, reminding me I'd had nothing to eat.“You know, you can just quit, right?” Briar winked suggestively at
