Within twenty-four hours, paper money would become worthless, but for now, her $32.5 million was more than enough to buy steel, food, fuel, and medical supplies to survive the collapse of civilization.Chloe hurried into her hotel room, where Rune was fast asleep. Moving quickly, she pulled out her tablet and logged into an online shopping platform. “Let's start spending.”100 barrels of purified drinking water (20,000 litres total).500 cases of instant noodles (6,000 packs total).200 bags of white rice (25 kg each).200 bags of dried beans (25 kg each).300 cans of assorted canned meat, Spam, and sardines.50 boxes o

“How did she find out about us?” Hazel asked moments after Chloe left, promising to return with another divorce paper.Ethan paced the room in disbelief. Chloe had somehow stripped him of his assets, their expensive vehicles, and the money in their joint accounts. He was now broke.“Ethan, your scandal is all over social media!” Elena exclaimed as her phone pinged incessantly.“How did Chloe get access to our security PINs? And how did she manage to transfer the cars without us noticing?” Dominic asked, visibly troubled.Maya and Zoe had already burst into tears after discovering that their luxury possessions had somehow disappeared. If anyone had told Ethan that his wife was capable of such cruelty, he would never have believed it.“I'm going to ruin Chloe!” Hazel declared as she scrolled through social media. Her pictures were plastered all over the internet, branding her a betrayer who had slept with her best friend's husband. “I'm going to kill her!”“Not if I get to her first,” E

Chloe got dressed and headed to her lawyer's office to collect the divorce papers she'd requested that morning. When she arrived home, she let out a bitter chuckle at the sight before her.Ethan was hosting an extravagant party for his business associates and family. One thing was certain: the apocalypse was approaching, yet they continued to spend money as though the world would never end. When the apocalypse came, wealth would no longer be measured in money, lavish parties, or designer clothes. It would be measured in food, shelter, and power.Everyone turned to stare at Chloe the moment she walked in. Few of the guests knew she was Ethan's wife. Most assumed she was a maid because of the way his family treated her.One of the guests handed her an empty wineglass with a smug look. “I'd like some more champagne, server.”A sneer formed on Chloe's face as she glared at the obnoxious guest. She snatched the glass and smashed it against the marble floor. The crash instantly silenced the

“Chloe!”“Chloe!”“Chloe!”Her eyes snapped open, and she instantly regretted it. The room was painfully bright, and a vicious migraine threatened to split her skull. Where was she? And who kept calling her name?“Chloe, why are you still sleeping at this hour? Today is Rune’s birthday, and you haven't made any preparations for the party,” Ethan said as he walked into her bedroom. For a moment, Chloe thought she was dreaming. The stench of blood and rust had been replaced by the delicate scent of jasmine.“I'm going to the mall to get balloons and decorations for the party. Get ready,” he said before leaving the house.Chloe picked up her phone and stared at the date displayed on the screen: October 16, 2020.That was impossible…As she struggled to make sense of what was happening, Rune ran into the room and threw her arms around Chloe. “Mama, you're awake.”Chloe heaved a sigh of relief when she saw her daughter, alive and healthy. She pulled Rune into a tight embrace and kissed th

Outside, the distant snarls of zombies echoed beyond the shelter's thick gates. The metallic stench of blood and rust hung heavy in the air.But Chloe stood transfixed in the bedroom doorway. The sounds of her husband and her best friend, Hazel, moaning together filled her ears. She opened the door, praying it was all a nightmare, but there they were, cuddled up and making out on her marital bed.“Ethan!” she screamed as tears streamed down her cheeks. It was bad enough that her husband had treated her like a servant, but here he was, cheating on her too!“What are you doing?” Chloe yelled in pain. “Hazel? You've been sleeping with my husband all this while?”Hazel smirked without an ounce of remorse. “Oh, Chloe.”Ethan stormed out of the bedroom and approached her, his face twisted into an annoyed scowl. “What the hell are you doing here? I sent you on an errand to get more supplies.”Yes, Ethan had sent her to fetch more supplies from the shelter's storage room to replenish their em
