Nate led her to his mother’s drawing room where she spent most of her time in. She always had a tune to play on the violin.

“Hey mom” Nate grinned

Grace was busy playing a beautiful note that she hadn’t noticed them walk in. Her face lit up into one of the prettiest smiles Ruby had ever seen.

She watched as mother and son hugged each other and Grace placed a peck on her son’s cheek. Now, she understood why he said the only people he ever loved were his parents.

Being rich didn’t guarantee him true love, most of the affection people showed towards him was fake and they acted that way only because they wanted favors from him. She had witnessed how Wyatt, who used to be his father’s friend, had tried to steal his company and ruin all his hard work. It was absurd to her how he found it difficult to trust people because they ended up stabbing him in the back.
