The Lion's Den

Adam

What! My eyes bulged out in shock as I stepped over at the other side of the office. I glared at Kathie with a cold and angry look on my face. She didn't look bothered by the look on my face. She crossed her arm under her breast with a cold look on her face. I stood up from the chair abruptly as soon as I got pushed by her. How dare she say "shut up to me?" I asked myself with a cold look on my face. My heart beat skipped a few beats in anger.

I looked up as I heard murmuring outside my transparent glass office. I glanced at my coworkers and staff who were standing at the front of my office with a glimpse of curious look on their faces. Some of them were with files and documents that they're supposed to work on. Some of them didn't have anything with them. I could tell that they were praying silently for her to survive her first day without getting fired. They could tell that I'm really angry. They're all aware of my anger issue. How dare she? She got some real gut.Huh.

Kathie glared at me with a cold look on her face. She huffed out loudly as she crossed her arm on her breasts waiting for me to do whatever I've to do. She cleared her throat in a childish and funny way.

"I can't believe that you're doing this. This is unbelievable. This is unfair. I can't take it. I can't believe you could do this to me just because of your anger. You don't have to vent your anger on your staff because you're the CEO or you are angry. We are your staff not your slave. We deserve some respect," even though as much as she tried to sound cold and fierce, the word rolled out of her tongue in a rather short time that I found cute and sweet.

Her tone made my lips curved into a small smile from the frown that was decorating my face. She looked at me with a glimpse of happiness on her face. I shook my head with a sigh and maintained my posture again.

Not a big achievement, but at least I wasn't scolding her. I crossed my arm under my broad chest, while listening to her blabbing how I should treat other people nicely, even if I am the boss I can't treat them like that.

I looked at the expression of the staff that were all watching with keen attention. They looked at me waiting and anticipating my next move. I could tell that they were wondering what punishment I would give to Kathie for correcting me. I have already made four workers out of my office while crying today. Kathie could be the fifth. It's her first day of work. She has barely spent any time in this office but she is already gonna experience the worst.

It was like a sudden switch or something. I'm Adam, a person who knows to be accountable for their wrong doing. I just shrugged my shoulders. "Get a cup of black coffee for me," I ordered her. She stared at me with her eyes widened in shock. She wasn't expecting my reply. I shook my head with a sigh.

 Outside Adam's office.

Kathie glared at Adam with a glimpse of happiness in her eyes. She shook her head with a sigh. She nodded her head gently at Adam, and walked out of the office with a loud squeaky sound. Everyone gasped out in shock as they heard the reaction of their boss. They weren't expecting that expression from their CEO. It was very rare for Adam, their boss. It was really unbelievable. All the things that they imagined they never imagined this kind of reaction from him.

Kathie furrowed her brow. He is such a jerk. She thought to herself, and scoffed inwardly. She huffed thinking how much of a jerk he actually is to not even acknowledge what she has said. With a frown on her face, she walked out of his office to make a black coffee as he had requested. She doesn't wanted to but Adam is her boss so she wasn't having any choice either.

Immediately when she stepped out of the office, the staff and employees clapped for her with a glimpse of happiness in their face. She squealed in surprise, and looked at them with her eyes widened in shock. What's wrong? She muttered with a sigh.

"I can't believe that you survived from the lion's den. Congratulations but be careful next time," one of them said, and she chuckled. Lion den? Maybe it's a lion den to them.

"Lion den?"she asked as she stared at them with a confused look on her face.

"Yes you don't know what you just survived," one of them said, and the others nodded their heads in approval. Kathie chuckled lightly before remembering that she doesn't know the way to the coffee machine.

"Please can you help me with the direction of the coffee machine?" she asked, staring at the person in front.

"Move straight, then take the left direction, you would find the coffee machine at the corner," a female staff member said with a smile beaming on her face. Kathie nodded her head gently as she muttered a 'thank you'.

She walked toward the direction of the coffee machine. She smiled happily as she stared at the coffee machine in front of her . She made her way towards it.

I let out a soft sigh as I opened my laptop, it's an apple macbook. I glanced at the screen of my laptop— trying to concentrate but I couldn't get it straight. Something is disturbing my head and brain at the moment that I don't know what to do. I don't need to know what's wrong with me. It's the words that Kathie told me earlier.

"I can't believe that you're doing this. This is unbelievable. This is unfair. I can't take it. I can't believe you could do this to me just because of your anger. You don't have to vent your anger on your staff because you're the CEO or angry. We're your staff not your slave. We deserve some respect," I let out a soft groan as I ruffled my hair with a sigh. Her words couldn't stop replaying or resounding in my head like an uncontrollable voice tape.

What she actually said was the true fact that I'm supposed to follow. I can't treat anyone like that just because of my mood— that is very unprofessional of me. I think I will have to apologise to my staff for acting that way toward them because my heart wouldn't stop haunting me— not until I take the coffee.

I groaned out with a frustrated look on my face as I stared at the time in my laptop. It has been more than an hour that I have been waiting for her. Where the hell is she? I gnashed my teeth as I stood up from the chair. She can't even do a simple task of making coffee for me.

I walked out of my office toward the direction of the coffee machine. On getting to the coffee machine, I gasped out in shock with my eyes widened in shock as I stared at the …
