Male ego

Adam

I woke up with a groan as the sound of the blaring alarm rang into my ears, disturbing my peaceful sleep. I covered my ears with a pillow, but the alarm won't stop disturbing me. I threw the pillow away, and reached for the alarm beside me. I switched it off, and let out a soft sigh. I stood up from the bed, and stretched my hand apart with a smile beaming on my face. I let out a yawn feeling refreshed and strong, more like before that I always become weak whenever I wake up from my sleep.

It's a good thing that things changed today. Maybe because I slept off early yesterday which was unusual for me. I don't normally sleep early. I'm really tired yesterday because I didn't have time to go through Kathie CV properly but I could tell it's a good one.

I pulled off my black pyjamas, and dropped it on the floor before putting on flip flops. I walked into the bathroom, and turned on the shower. I stared at my abs as water gushed down from the shower.

I walked out of the bathroom after a few minutes of brushing and bathing. I could say that it was really nice and good. The water was cool and gentle on my tanned skin. A white towel was wrapped around my waist. I pulled off the towel, and dried my wet body with it. It was really nice and good.

I walked toward the clothes closet, pulled it open and brought out some sets of clothes from it. I dropped it on the bed, and let out a soft sigh from my mouth. I put on a black tuxedo suit with jeans. I reached for my briefcase, and turned around trying to find my laptop which wasn't in the room. I opened the briefcase, and found it inside. I don't need to be told that it was my mother that placed my laptop inside my briefcase. That's so nice of her.

I walked out of my room holding my phone firmly while browsing through the internet. I hummed out as I glanced through my phone. I climbed down the stairs, making my way toward the dining room.

I looked up as I heard laughter emitting from the dining room. I walked into the dinner room. I looked at my parents, they looked relaxed. As soon as they noticed my presence, they looked at me with a wide and suspicious grin on their faces. "Good morning mum. Morning dad," I said as I walked toward the chair beside my mum.

"Morning son,"they chorused at the same time, and I looked at them with a confused look on my face. They smiled at me way too cheerfully. What's wrong with them? What could have made them this happy? I asked myself but I couldn't get an answer to it. They're a cheerful couple, but I think there are more than thirty happy moods that I wasn't aware of.

They're both acting kinda weird, and in an instant I could tell that they were talking about me before I came downstairs. What could they be talking about me? I asked myself, but I couldn't get an answer to it. I couldn't help but wonder if they were so happy that I came early yesterday? Should that give them so much excitement? They weren't this much happy about my early arrival yesterday, than they are today. I thought as I stroked my hand on my chin. Maybe they are just happy I came early for once. If that is the case, then I will try my best to come early everyday.

I glanced at the table which was filled with different delicacies of food. She opened every plate, and I licked my lips as the aroma of the food hit my nose. The scent of the food was so nice and perfect that I felt my mouth watered. It's prepared by my mum I knew instantly.

"Come on. You can start eating," she said as she said a silent and soft prayer. I nodded my head gently, and reached for the cutleries on the wooden table. I picked it up , and we all ate in silence, only the sound of the clinging plates could be heard.

I looked up as the cold voice of my father jolted me out of my reverie. I dropped the fork, and cleaned my lips with a white napkin. If I leaned closer, maybe I would be able to know the reason why they were happy. I know there's more to their happiness.

"I wonder what's wrong with the youngsters. I wonder why they're scared nowadays of telling their love life to their parents. Even though their parents are cool about it now," he said, and I shook my head with a sigh. I let out a soft sigh from my lips.

"You're right. Adam, your father is right. If you have a girl you're crushing on, and you find it hard to make your feelings known to her, I can help you with it, she said, and father nodded his head gently. I choked on the wine that I was drinking.

"What!" I exclaimed with a shocked expression on my face. I can't believe what my mother is saying. Why would they think I can't make my feelings known to a girl?

"Sorry. Take this,"she said, and stretched a glass of clean water in it. I mutter a thank you before taking it from her. I gulped down the content of the drink.

This really triggered my ego and made me angry. I'm Adam Smith. I don't have to rush over any girl that I like, they'll rush over me instead. No girl would ever say no to me. I'll never chase a girl when every girl wants to be around me. I'm not even interested in any lady at the moment. My work is my priority at the moment.

"Adam I was saying. We're really open minded as you know. So let us know if you have any…"my mother stopped midway, and winked at me. I shook my head with a sigh. I didn't bother to say anything as I listened to them babbling about how open minded they're.

I wonder what's going on in their mind. I heaved out tiredly with a sigh. My head swirled around only one thing: that my parents think that I'm incompatible to even make someone fall in love with me. I wonder why they're acting this way. It's really a bit childish about thinking like this right? But it's a male ego, even the smallest thing could make it explode like a volcano.

"Dad, mum can you just stop this?" I asked as I slammed my fist on the table. I don't want to vent my anger at them but I was pushed to shout out. They stared at me with a confused look. Silence and tension engulfed the room.

"I'm going dad,"I said, clearing the silence and tension. I walked out of the house with a sigh.

They nodded their heads gently without saying anything. I walked out of the house as I grabbed the car key on the table in the guest room. I shook my head with a sigh. I entered the car, and drove speedily out of the mansion.

Getting to the office, I walked out of the car as I parked skillfully at the parking lot. I grabbed the black briefcase. The guards bowed their heads gently as they noticed my presence. I glared at them, and they scampered away.

I walked into the company, and looked at the staff that bowed their heads immediately when they noticed my presence. "Good day sir."They greeted me like everyday with their heads bowed.

I scowled at them as they scampered away with a glimpse of fear in their eyes. Who wouldn't be scared at the moment? It's obvious that I'm really angry, and I'm not in my right state of mind. So they had to avoid me so as not to face the wrath of my anger. I can be really severe and cruel, the same as deadly.

"Bring me a cup of coffee right now," I said to one of my staff with a cold voice. She nodded her head, and scampered away hurriedly. She rushed toward me with the coffee, but due to the pace that she was running to, she accidentally spilled the coffee over me.

I growled at her with a cold look as the coffee spilled on my clothes. She shook her head with a sigh. "Are you dumb? Are you blind?"I asked with an angry look. Shs fell on her knees with her lips trembling.

After a few minutes of scolding, I entered my office. I pulled the coat off me and threw it at the corner. I stared at the files on the table. I growled out with an angry look on my face. I looked up as someone opened the door to my office, it pulled open with a loud squeak. I shook my head with a sigh. Thinking it was Jackson, I threw the file at his face.

"I told you that you shouldn't come to my office without completing the file. Do you want to get sacked?" I asked with my voice, eyes etched with anger.

"What Jackson are you talking about?" I looked up as I heard the voice of the mysterious girl. She glared at me with a cold look as she rubbed her hand on her nose which had a nice blow due to the impact of the file.

I swirled my chair around with a confused look on my face. "Why didn't you tell me that you're not Jackson?"I asked with my voice etched with anger.

She walked toward me, and she did the least that I expected from her. What! She…
