Angela’s POV

The music shifted into something livelier, and just like that, the party changed. Someone dragged out a stack of cards, another shouted about a guessing game, and within minutes the hall felt less like a birthday celebration and more like a pack festival. Laughter rang out from every corner, the clink of glasses mingled with playful groans of defeat, and the tension I had been carrying in my chest finally began to ease.

I stayed close to Aaron, almost without realizing it. Maybe it was the way his presence steadied me, or maybe it was the fact that Julius had not stopped glaring at me once. His eyes burned holes into the side of my face all night, like he thought if he stared long enough I would crumble and run back to him.

Sorry, Julius. That girl doesn’t live here anymore.

Aaron noticed too. He didn’t say anything, but his hand stayed at my back, his thumb brushing lightly against the fabric of my dress now and then, small grounding touches. Like he was silently telling

  • Fate Or Mates   0130:Yeah, I Figured

ANGELA’S POVThe quiet in the house felt different now. It wasn’t just empty. It was expectant, like the walls themselves were holding their breath, waiting for him to come back. I wandered from the kitchen to the living room, my fingers trailing over the back of the sofa, then the cool marble of the counter. This wasn’t just a house anymore. It was the King’s home. My home.It was still so unreal. Aaron. My Aaron. The man who made me pancakes and held me while I cried was the Alpha King, the most powerful wolf in the territory. Honestly, my brain kept short-circuiting. I just couldn’t fit the two pictures together.I was sinking into the couch, trying to process it all for the hundredth time, when my phone buzzed on the coffee table. The screen flashed: Rainey.A smile broke through my daze. I swiped to answer. “Hey, you.”“Okay, spill it. Right now.” Rainey’s voice burst through, full of barely contained excitement. “The family group chat is dead silent, which is weirder than a full

  • Fate Or Mates   0129: Temper Tantrum

Julius’s POVHe stopped right in front of me, chest heaving. The look in his eyes was no longer just anger. It was a cold, devastating reassessment. “You are a liability. A reckless, arrogant boy pretending to be a man. You brought your whole pack to its knees for a whim.”The final blow did not come as a shout. It came quiet and absolute. “You will not succeed me. I would rather see this pack go to a competent cousin than watch your pride destroy it. You are a disgrace. Get out of my sight.”Just like that. My birthright. The whole point of my life. Gone. Erased in one breath.I did not argue. What was there to say. The truth of his words was a poison I had to swallow. I turned and left. The heavy door clicked shut behind me with a sound far too much like a coffin lid.The slam of my own chamber door did not block out the echo. Disgrace. Failure. The sting on my cheek was nothing. His words were the branding iron. He did not just hit me. He disowned my future. The Alpha title I was r

  • Fate Or Mates   0128: Slapped And Sentenced

JULIUS’S POVThe stone floor was cold under my knees. That part registered distantly. But it was nothing. It was a warm summer breeze compared to the hollow, frozen feeling spreading out from my chest. It was freezing my blood and my bones. I think it was freezing the air right in my lungs.Alpha King. The two words just echoed. A death sentence right there in my skull. The guy from the festival. The one I had written off as some nobody, a temporary roadblock. That was him. The most powerful wolf on this side of the continent. A sovereign. And I had stood there and called him a thief. In his own house. When that guard burst in and said it, it was like hearing the blade drop. I felt it slice right through my future, my status, my whole sense of who I was. All that arrogance I wore like armor was gone, shattered. It left me standing there naked in raw, humiliated terror.I could feel my dad’s panic beside me, a physical vibration in the air. His begging sounded like white noise, a pathe

  • Fate Or Mates   0127: Checkmate, Rookie

AARON’S POV“You are making a grave error, young Thorne,” Alistair said, his voice like grinding stones.“The only error is yours!” Julius shot back, turning to his father. “Let’s go. Let them explain this insult to their King.”Just as he turned to make his big, dramatic exit, a young guard burst in, skidding to a halt. His eyes found me at the head of the table instantly. He dropped to one knee, fist over his heart, his voice ringing clear in the stunned silence.“My apologies for interrupting, Alpha King! Urgent news from the northern ridge!”The words just hung there.Alpha King.I saw the realization hit Julius like a physical punch. He froze mid-stride, his back to me. His shoulders tensed, then started to tremble. Slowly, so slowly, he turned around. All the color had drained from his face. The arrogant sneer was gone, replaced by sheer, gut-wrenching terror. His eyes, wide and disbelieving, darted from the kneeling guard to the stone-faced elders and finally to me.He wasn’t l

  • Fate Or Mates   0126:Conveniently Delivered Revenge

AARON’S POVThe drive to the pack house was just a blur of trees and road. My hands were steady on the wheel, my face the calm Alpha mask I wore so well, but inside? Inside, it was a hurricane. She died. Those two words kept hammering in my head, over and over, a brutal, sickening rhythm. She died on some cold floor, betrayed and bleeding out, carrying… carrying my child. Our child. In a life that never got to be.Honestly, a savage, red-hot rage threatened to tear right through my control. I wanted to find Julius Thorne and peel the skin from his bones, slowly. I wanted to find that she-wolf Kimberly and let my wolf show her what real agony felt like. The violence of the feeling was primal, overwhelming. It took everything I had to shove it down, to lock it away somewhere deep and dark. Not now. She needed an anchor right now, not a storm. But under the rage, there was pain so deep it felt like my own heart had been ripped out. She had lived through that. Alone. Carrying that horror

  • Fate Or Mates   0125:Past Life

ANGELA’S POV“And the Shadow Moon project?” I asked.“My land,” he confirmed. “A joint venture with your father’s company was the perfect, peaceful way to integrate pack interests with the human world, to create a sustainable future. It was business, until I realized the brilliant, fierce heiress I was negotiating with was my mate. Then it became everything.”He fell silent, his gaze intense. “This life is not easy, Angela. There will be expectations, scrutiny, moments of danger. People will challenge you because you are my human born mate. The title of Queen is not just a word. It is a duty to every wolf in this territory.”I let it all sink in. The weight of it was immense, a mountain range of responsibility. But looking at him, feeling the unshakable bond between us, I did not feel crushed. I felt anchored.“I am not the same woman I was in that cafe,” I said quietly. “Or the one from before. I know what betrayal looks like. I know what fear feels like. And I know what true strengt
