Astra's pov
"Astra, are you asleep?" I heard a soft knock on my door.
"No, mom. I was just about to go to bed." I stood up and slowly walked to the door.
"I wanted to talk to you about something." She said as I opened the door.
"About Jay?" I asked. She nodded. We went in and sat on my bed. She gently took my hand in hers.
"Astra, dear, I know you don't feel good about this Jay being your mate thing but Astra, we've known that guy for more than 6 years now. He even lived with us for around 4 years. I know that kid. And I know he loves you. Remember how he saved you back then? So..."
"You're just being optimistic, mom. Yeah, I know we've known him for more than 6 years, he lived with us for 4 years. Why don't you mention that it has been 2 years since he betrayed us? He saved me because he loves me? If anything, he must have saved me because he was guilty. Nothing...more..." I stopped as tears rolled down my cheeks. She hugged me.
"I'm sorry, Astra but I'm just worried about you. You know you are someone he would never hurt. I believe he was being forced when he did that before. So Astra...I want you to meet him once." She stopped to look at my reaction. She got none.
"Astra, you know staying away from him for too long is going to be hard on you too. Do you not feel some kind of pain in your chest already?" she asked.
"I don't," I lied. Actually, I had been feeling the pain since yesterday morning right after I woke up. Mom sighed.
"Astra..." she began.
"I really don't feel any kind of pain," I insisted stubbornly. She nodded.
"But I still want you to go and talk to that kid. Sort out things. It will also ease the chest pain you are feeling for a while."
"Mom, I..." I decided to not say anything. "Okay, I will go tomorrow..."
"Thank you, sweetheart. I am going back to my room too now." She stood up. "Oh, right! Do not mention going out to meet Jay to your brother. You know he won't let you."
"I know. I won't tell him. Good night, mom"
"Good night, Astra." She left the room. As soon as the mom shut the door from outside, I rolled towards the corner of my bed and curled up, trying my best to push back my thoughts and not cry.
Jay's pov"You said...WHO IS HERE?" I stood up suddenly and my hand hit the glass beside me, resulting in a huge crash. Kevin sighed."Chill, Jay. Astra's here. THAT Astra. Your mate. Yes, her. She wants to talk to you. Alone," he said."What's up with them? Just yesterday, her brother was here, creating chaos, telling me he won't approve of me being with his sister. Today, she is here herself. This is a little...stressful." I rubbed my temples. Kevin sighed."So...do you want me to send her in or not?" he asked again. I nodded."Of course, send her in. She has come a long way. We can't send her back just like that, can we?""You don't need to make any excuses," he mumbled, and sighing, he went outside to tell Astra that she could enter.I quickly fixed my hair and jacket and straightened myself. I heard a knock on the door."Yes?" I stood up. Astra entered. She looked so pretty, prettier than she was 2 years back when I
Lucas's pov I heard a knock on the door. "Lucas? You in there?" Astra's soft voice followed afterward. "Yeah. What is it?" I asked. She peeked in. "I want to talk to you about something. Are you busy?" she asked. "Not at all. Come in." She shut the door behind her. "I am not supposed to say this to you. I went to meet Jay today," she said, fidgeting. "WHAT?" I stood up. "Calm down and listen to me. Mom wanted me to meet him. I hate to admit it but staying away from him for too long was really hard for me too. So I went. But I hate him. You know that. I do not want to be with him and I made it clear to him. I told him that every time it starts to get painful again, I would go and look for him. The same for him too..." "Astra...but..." "He's the worst. He...he betrayed us, all of us, right after dad died...on top of that...and...and we all had to fight in our worst moments because of that
3 years ago Lucas's pov A few months after the rouges grouped together and attacked our pack...the fight where dad had died, with lots of other members, to protect the clan... "Auntie, where is Astra???" The door opened and Jay came inside, running. "Oh my, why are you in such a hurry? Ah! Those flowers! Are those for Astra?" Mom smiled and patted Jay's head. "Yes. I picked them up for Astra." He smiled when he said her name and I saw the genuine tingle in his eyes. Mom probably noticed it too. "You really like Astra a lot, don't you?" Mom asked him, smiling. He nodded. "Yes. I really hope that Astra is my mate so that I can be with her forever." "Tch! We are only 15. Why are you talking about living with someone forever?" I remember mocking him. "Well, that's because you don't have someone and you are jealous of me and Astra," saying so and sticking out his tongue, he ran off to
Astra's pov "Astra, sweetheart, hide here, alright? Don't make a single noise. AND DO NOT COME OUT NO MATTER WHAT!" "B...but mom...you...and Lucas...you guys..." I remember hardly being able to speak as I was trembling all over, tears streaming all over my cheeks. I couldn't even stand up properly. I was clinging to mom's arm, refusing to let go and be parted from her for even a second. I had a huge cut under my elbow and blood gushed down from behind mom's left ear. Lucas was outside, fighting. "I can fight! I can still go on, mom! Just let me!" She wrapped her arms around me. "Astra, the wolf that injured you had poison in his nails. It has entered your cells already. We have to delay the spreading of the poison throughout your body. If you move, it will just spread faster. I will be back soon, I promise." As much as she tried to make it sound convincing, I could still hear her voice shaking slightly. I nodded. As mom left, she s
Jay's pov Her eyes were slowly shutting close. My arms shook, watching the girl I love dying right in my arms. But her body still felt warm and I could feel her chest go up and down as she took heavy breaths in. "Quickly! I have to do this quickly. I don't have time!" I opened the bottle and poured the liquid into my mouth. Lining my lips on top of hers, I made her drink the antidote. Relief flooded my body as she swallowed it. I hoped I was not too late to do that. For the next half an hour, I stayed still, still holding her. Her breathing was loud and so was my heartbeat. I was way too scared. When I felt her breathing starting to get normal, I felt relief all over my body again. Outside, the war was still raging, both packs fighting with every intention to kill and die if needed. I felt guilty, for not being out there to help but I knew I needed to be with Astra for now. I stared at her facing, smiling as the paleness turned back to her usual skin
Jay's pov Don't say it! Don't say it! DON'T SAY IT!! I hoped he wouldn't say it. But I KNEW he would. Hoping was useless. Also, the truth needed to be found out someday. And it was just today... "What you do not know is...I am Jay's 'dad'...Jay, right here, is my heir. The heir to your enemy pack. He came here because I told him." I hated the way he smiled when he said that. Astra looked at me as if waiting for me to deny it. I couldn't. I remained silent. She continued to stare at me and I kept avoiding eye contact. "*sigh* You guys look like you two need some time to talk it out. Okay..." he stood up and started making his way towards the door. "You two," he told the two wolves there, "come with me. And oh right! Convey this message. Do not kill the alpha's family. I can't ignore this. After all, this is a request from my 'dear son'..." Saying this, he left the room with the other two. The two wolves ran off to spread his message.
Astra's pov I felt my consciousness returning to me and I slowly opened my eyes. "Jay.." I called out to him but my voice was barely over a whisper. Two wolves attacked him. I recognized them. Wolves from the enemy pack. I fought and escaped from them earlier. I heard them saying things as they fought. Jay was saying something about us not being the same forever. I tried to move but my body couldn't budge. Just then, the enemy alpha entered. ... I could hardly walk and I could hardly see. Tears flooded my eyes and all I could see was a blurry scene where werewolves were fighting each other, with bloodied bodies but still fighting for themselves and the ones they loved, their families, the entire pack. All this could never have
Lucas' pov "This will be the end of your pack, Lucas. You and your dad, both of you took great pride in being the alpha of this pack, didn't you? I always hated the smug look your dad had on his face. It made me feel like he looked down on our pack. And now, you and your sister both have the same look that he had. I am gonna take care of you right here." "We will have to see about that." As our claws clashed, he looked into my eyes and smirked. "Good thing we managed to poison that brat. Our men must have taken care of her by now." As I realized that he was talking about Astra, my body froze for a split second. It gave the enemy an opening and his claw struck my neck. Luckily, I came back to my senses quickly and I dodged it. He still managed to cut my neck but luckily, it wasn't a deep cut. A drop of blood trickled from the corner of the cut. He stood straight and looked at his claws. "Huh? I missed?" He tilted his head an
