Chapter 4

Lucas's pov

"Where did you go?" Astra blocked my path as soon as I entered through the door.

"You're home already? Why did you come back so early?" I asked, passing by her. She stood before me again.

"You did not answer my question, Lucas. Where did you go?" I looked at her. Her eyes were serious.

"I went to see Jay," I replied and she punched me lightly. I stepped back.

"Why? WHY WOULD YOU GO THERE? THAT MAN IS DANGEROUS!" she shouted.

"I did not go alone. I took Linda and some men with me." I told her.

"You know that he is too powerful for all your army. The only one who has a chance of fighting with him is you but you know it's just a small chance. Do you know how scared I was? If he chose to fight, you could have been critically injured! That man is ruthless. You could even...even..." I heard her sobbing. I pulled her close to my chest and patted her head.

"I am sorry. I know I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry. I won't do that again. So, don't cry."

"I just...want you to be safe," she said, trying to calm down but in vain.

"I know. Besides, I knew he wouldn't fight me this time. He loves you, you know that," I said.

"...I thought he loved me back then too. But that incident still happened, didn't it?" she said in a low voice.

"I know. He still saved you from dying back then too. Besides, things are different now. You're his mate."

"Lucas, please. Let's not talk about that man. I can't..." she stopped mid-sentence.

"Okay, let's not. I'm sorry I brought that up. Where's mom?" I asked, trying to change the topic.

"I'm in here! In the kitchen." I heard mom shout.

"MOM! Are you cooking something delicious for us?" I asked, going inside.

"YES! COME AND SIT DOWN!" she shouted. I pulled Astra by the shoulder and dragged her in. The look on her face showed that she was still worried about Jay being her mate.

"Come on, Astra. Stop worrying and eat. I am really hungry."
