Chapter 2

Jay’s pov:

"Quick! Get the Alpha!" "We can hardly hold on!" "AAGH!!!"

I heard loud screams and cries of pain coming from the gate as I rushed forward.

"Jay!" I heard someone call my name. Seconds later, I ran alongside Kevin, the Beta.

"It's Lucas and his army. We need to hurry." With that, I sped up, and Kevin caught up to my speed. When I got to the gates, I saw him, standing with his arms crossed, as his men fought mine. Swiftly, I and Kevin attacked Lucas's men.

"Yo! Jay! Kevin!" He smirked as he saw us.

"Hey, hey! He's here. You all, withdraw now." He ordered his army. Alpha Lucas. Our worst enemy. I gritted my teeth.

"Well, I wanted to meet you, Jay. But pleasantly, Kevin is also here. Aren't you going to invite me in?" His face still had that smile on it, as if he was looking down on us.

"What is it that you want to talk about?" I asked. "We cannot trust this guy. Stay alert." My wolf warned me.

"I heard you found out who your mate is." Damn it! I should have known he was here for that. Once we turned 18, we could know who our mate was once they were nearby. Just last week, my wolf had sensed the presence of our mate. I looked around and once I found out who it was, the feeling of happiness in my heart could not be described. However, it only lasted for some time because I was suddenly reminded of my mate's identity.

"Well, I'm happy our mate is our first love, Jay. But she is..." my wolf had said. "I know," I answered. Our mate was the twin sister of the alpha of our biggest enemy. Lucas's twin sister! Just then, Kevin started acting strange.

"These symptoms..." I looked at Lucas. He knew what was happening too. Kevin's mate was nearby. Lucas searched around. We saw one of Lucas's pack members going through the same symptoms.

"It's her!" I looked at Kevin's mate, shocked.

"Why...her?" I heard Kevin say as he finally determined the smell of his mate. Lucas looked shocked too. Then he smiled. A smile that gave me chills for it looked evil.

"Well, looks like destiny wants to bring peace among these two enemy packs. Are you still reluctant to let me in and talk to me?" That nasty smirk again! He knew I had no choice. I stepped sideways.

"Very well, come on in," I led Lucas into my house as Kevin helped the injured pack members get their treatment.
