Chapter Three

Elle’s Pov :

Elle couldn’t get mister glowing eyes out of her head. As she stepped into her house. It reeked in there and seriously smelled like they hadn’t cleaned in years. The house was filled with cigarette smoke and alcohol bottles.

Her mother had been on another binger again and of course left the mess for Elle to clean up. It was well after one in the morning. Walking around the house picking up bottle after bottle and emptying make shift ash trays Elle looked around for any signs her mother had passed out.

Elle had long ago stopped trying to understand her mothers drinking. Once when Elle was a child she asked her mother why she drank so much. Her reply was cryptic and quick.

“To make them stop. The world around us is too loud, Elle and one day you will understand.”

Elle’s mother used to be full of light and happiness. But, after her father died things slowly and steadily went downhill for her mothers mental health. Elle was too young at the time to

understand why her mother had turned so mean and hateful towards her at times. But, now she knows. Her mother loved feeling nothing more than she loved her own daughter. A daughter who had turned more into a caretaker and a roommate than her mothers flesh and blood.

After finding her mother passed out on the porch Elle gave her a blanket and called it a night. As her body gave way to sleep she decided it was best to get a shower and bed. Elle found herself tossing and turning most of the night. Elle would wake up wet in all the wrong and right places thinking about the hot as hell guy from the club. Mister glowing eyes. He was way out of her league she thought, but damn he was having her drool. The things she would let him do to her. Elle thought back to her dream that she kept getting pulled  into and out of.

He’s there with her in her room, mister glowing eyes. Watching her, she wakes, Elle should be startled but she's not. This contact feels right. He makes her feel protected. He pulled himself from the wall he was leaning against, like he's ready to pounce on top of her any moment.

A part of Elle yearns for this, wants it.

Her throat is dry and for some reason can’t find any words to say to him. It’s all feelings and needs. A deep need she doesn’t fully understand.

He smirks for a second and takes a deep inhale of the air. Like lighting he moves and hangs over her, while Elle can do nothing but lay on the bed, still as a statue,

“It’s okay, to give in, touch me.” He says, with a devilish almost wolf-like grin. Better yet darling I want you to touch yourself as he leans over Elle and the smell of the forest fills the room. As Elle begins to comply with his demand the dream fades and Elle finds herself awake once more and unsatisfied.

Ugh. Elle snap the fuck out of it. He barely noticed you.

When she realized for the fourth time of her waking up her body would no longer let her sleep she went outside to her little balcony that overlooked her back yard. Not that there was much, just some dirt with patches of grass and a few shrubs.

The yard needed some tlc badly. But, that was a financial luxury Elle did not have the time or money for.

Taking a deep breath, for once the land beyond the valley had a breeze trying to calm herself, and will sleep to come back to her body, she thought she heard something or someone rustling beyond the brush.

Could be a coyote.. Could be an axe murder. Squinting her eyes to get a better view with no luck she took a shaky breath. Realizing she had no weapon to scare anything off and she was outside alone in a tank top and her underwear now is not the time to investigate. That is how you get killed Elle. Hearing a twig snap in two had Elle sprinting back to her room and locking the patio door. But, just as Elle went inside she could have sworn she saw a pair of blue glowing eyes boring into her. It was just a flash but that's all that was needed. The wind kicked up and she could hear her spirits come forward “not human”, was the only message she got. The hair on both her arms stood up. That was the only message Elle needed, she did not tangle with anything from the other worlds. Sleep was the last thing it seemed Elle was going to get today trying as she might.
