The drive to school was silent, but it was a comfortable silence.
Diana kept her eyes glued outside as the different pack houses flew past with their speed. It was her final year in school and she couldn't wait to be done.Being in school hadn't been easy, especially when she turned sixteen the previous year and still didn't connect with her wolf. And until she shifted, she wouldn't be able to feel the mate bond. She wouldn't find her mate."What's on your mind?" Alden asked as he took a sharp turn a little too fast. Diana looked up to see him staring at her through the rearview mirror. She shook her head and smiled a little. "A lot. I can't just wait to be done with school. I keep getting weird looks just because I'm the only teen that hasn't wolfed out. And I hear side talks too. People think I'll never find my mate."She looked away then, and failed to see Alden exchange looks with Asher and Axel, almost as if they were communicating with the mind link."Don't let that bother you, Diana," Asher said finally, turning around to face her. "They're just jealous. Remember how you were crowned queen of full moon night three times in a row."Diana laughed softly as the sweet memory came back to her. Full Moon night was a pageantry event hosted every year at the Michaelson School, a school founded by Alpha Alaric Michaelson.Diana had emerged as the winner for three consecutive years, much to the uttermost envy of the other she-wolves in the school. She took solace in the fact that when it came to beauty and brains, the other girls didn't stand a chance against her."Is that supposed to make me feel better?" she asked."Yes," the triplets answered all at once, and they laughed."But what I'm trying to say is, don't let what they say bother you," Asher continued. "Your body knows when it's best for you to shift. And for your mate, you'll find him.""Yeah, you definitely will," Axel added and smiled at her."Don't forget, you have us," Alden turned back briefly to stare at her, his charming smile making her heart flutter. "You belong to us and we will do anything to protect you."Diana felt her heart skip a bit when Alden said she belonged to them, just like in her dreams. She gulped softly and smiled."I love you guys," she said goofily. "You're the best."Few minutes later, they arrived at the school and Alden guided the car into the parking lot."Have fun," he stroked her hair lovingly. "We'll pick you up after school."Diana smiled at all three of them and stepped out of the car, her backpack held over one shoulder. She blew a kiss at her brothers and made her way into the school with a happy smile on her face. The Michaelson School was built like the mansion Diana stayed, with numerous classes for the new and old students. Every year, new werewolves were recruited and enrolled at the school. The students were trained to protect themselves from the human world, and also to protect the humans for them.Diana stepped through the large open doors, breathing in the sweet scent of fresh flowers. A few friends called out to her and she waved back, smiling sheepishly. It was going to be a good day. She could feel it.Suddenly her smile faded when a blonde girl stepped in front of her with an arrogant smirk. Behind the girl were three other girls, all blonde, all with creepy smirks on their faces."If it isn't the only wolfless girl in the Michaelson school."Diana scowled at the girl before her. It was Syrena Addams, daughter of her father's beta, Dorian Addams.Syrena had been the thorn in her flesh since they entered high school, and it didn't go down well with the blonde vixen when Diana emerged queen of full moon night three consecutive times.According to her, she was the school beauty, and the most popular shewolf, hence the crown should have gone to her and not Diana.Deciding not to give Syrena a chance to annoy her that morning, Diana decided to ignore her and was about to walk away when Syrena grabbed her shirt and pulled her back forcefully."Knock it out!" Diana snapped, slapping Syrena's hand away."Ouch," Syrena cried out, holding her hand like she had been wounded. She glared up at Diana and spoke at the top of her voice. "What's your problem? You want to hurt me?"In a few minutes, students had surrounded them, wanting to see how the fight would end. They all knew Diana and Syrena were sworn enemies."Get in my way again and I'll do more than hurt you," Diana said coldly."Is that a threat?" Syrena sneered. "Look at you, acting all hard and heartless. I bet if your brothers were here, you'd have crawled up to them, bawling your eyes out like the loser that you are."The small crowd that had gathered in the hallway 'oohed' and a few whispered among themselves as they waited for Diana to reply with a badass comeback."Don't you dare talk about my brothers," Diana growled, her hands fisted at her side."And what if I do?" Syrena taunted, a cocky smile curling her lips. "Who are you gonna call? Your mate?"The laughter increased and Diana felt her anger soar. It took a lot of strength to hold back her fist from smashing Syrena's face."You're one to talk, considering you don't have a mate too," she said, her voice shaking with undisguised anger."At least I have a wolf," Syrena shot back viciously, her brown eyes glittering. "I shifted at the age of six, unlike you who's just hiding your failure as a shifter under your parents because they're the Alpha and Luna."She laughed scornfully and continued. "You haven't even felt the slightest sign of your wolf. If I were you, I wouldn't think of finding my mate next year. I'll advise you to sit back and watch as I finally get mated to your three handsome brothers..."Diana lost it when she heard Syrena gloat about stealing her brothers. Her possessive side emerged and she lunged at Syrena with a scream of rage. Her fist lifted and she landed a punch on Syrena's face. The hallway became filled with screams and yells as the students cheered them on, not bothering to interfere and separate them.Suddenly Diana was pulled off, cursing and kicking."Enough, Diana," the headmaster, Mister Walter grabbed her and moved her away when she tried to lunge at Syrena again.Syrena, seeing that they would get punished, quickly shifted and began to cry her eyes out."Headmaster Walter, Diana just attacked me out of the blue," she cried out and lifted her head. There was a loud collective gasp as Syrena lifted her head. The punch Diana landed on her face had broken her nose and she was bleeding profusely. Her lips were bleeding too.Headmaster Walter didn't bother finding out what occurred. He turned to Diana and glared at her sternly."Diana Michaelson, you've been suspended for a week, for harming a fellow student," he barked. "Pack your stuff and leave at once."100 years later... Alaric and Catherine had resigned as Alpha and Luna of the pack, leaving it for Alden and his brothers to rule. One fateful day, a new group of werewolves were brought to the pack. Just as it had been done years ago in the time of Alpha Alaric, werewolves who didn't belong to a pack traveled down to the Bloodmoon pack so they could be sworn in as members, and protected from the outside world. After they had sworn their loyalties to the triplets Alphas, the warriors began to group them into pack houses. Alden and his brothers left the beta and gamma to do the job and they left, taking a walk round the pack and making sure everyone was settling in. Suddenly, they perceived a sweet and unique scent. Asher was the first to stop abruptly, and then his brothers followed. "That sweet scent." Alden whispered. They couldn't be mistaken. Only one person had that scent, and they would recognize it anywhere. It was Diana. In the next instant, the triplets shifted into
Alden and his brothers were dumbstruck. It seemed they had seen a ghost. "Diana? Dad?" Asher whispered, unable to believe his eyes. He was terrified that if he blinked, they would disappear. Beside him, Alden and Axel were so still. It was Catherine who finally took a tentative step forward and gently stretched her hand forward. "Alaric," She said softly. "Is it really you?"Alpha Alaric smiled at her gently. Then he looked towards his daughter and gently placed a kiss on her hair. Turning back to his mate, he stepped out of the pool and took her in his arms. "It is, my love." His deep voice caressed her. "I came back to you."Catherine's eyes filled with tears as she touched her mate all over, making sure he was real and not a figment of her imagination. When she realized it was really him standing before her in flesh and blood, she burst into happy tears and threw herself into his arms. "Oh Alaric," She sobbed. "I thought I would never see you again. I was so lost without you
A week had gone by since the death of Alaric and Diana. Bloodmoon pack was deserted. After the war with Astrid, the other creatures had packed up their families and left the pack to the outside world. The Michaelson school lay in ruins. The only people left in the pack were the triplets, Catherine and a few of the warriors.Even after the war they won, things didn't go back to the way they were. The sky remained dark and moonless, and the realm felt like it had been sucked dry of life. Catherine moved about the mansion like a ghost, her face etched with the pain of her lost mate and her daughter. The only reason she didn't take her life were her sons. They were what made her live each day. As for Alden and his brothers, things would never be the same. Diana didn't just die; she took a part of them with her. And though they tried to ignore the pain and pretended like they were okay, deep down, the pain of losing her was all consuming. The days went by seamlessly, until one night,
Alaric slowly climbed to his feet behind Astrid and withdrew the dagger Diana had given to him. The pain he felt was excruciating, but he carefully trudged forward, his eyes intent on Astrid. He had to do it. He had to save everyone before it was too late. It wasn't easy for a father to kill his own child, but as Diana stated earlier, it was the only way. An Alpha had to make difficult decisions, no matter who it would affect. And at that point, destroying Diana's body which was inhabited by Astrid was the only way to save the entire realm. As he got closer to Astrid, Alden sensed him and he raised his head weakly. His gaze focused on Alaric and the moment he saw the dagger, he knew what his father was about to do. Kill Diana. Before he could hold himself, he yelled out unintentionally. "Father no!" Astrid whirled around instantly, her black eyes zeroing in on Alaric. She snarled at him and shot out her arm, sending Alaric flying backwards. "You werewolves never give up." She u
"You have to kill me."Alpha Alaric froze, the color draining from his face. He slowly released Diana, shaking his head in denial. "No," He whispered. "Dad please...""No Diana." Alaric shook his head, his entire body trembling. "How can you ask of something like that from me?""It is the only way." Diana cried out. "Astrid is going to destroy the realm, and she has already succeeded because the moon is gone...""No..." Alaric adamantly refused. "Dad we can't let more innocent people die...""I can't do it Diana!" Alaric suddenly burst out. Then his voice lowered and trembled as he continued. "I can't kill my own child, my own daughter.""So you would let other people die?" Diana whispered. "If Astrid takes over, I'll die. Why not make use of the opportunity and defeat her instead?""Diana, it isn't as easy as you want it to be." Alaric whispered back. There were tears glistening in his eyes, threatening to fall. "I can't kill my own daughter. This is a difficult decision you're as
Immediately the pentagram's connection was severed, Astrid lost control of her powers for a moment. This gave the large wolf an opportunity to tackle her to the ground. "No!" She screamed, struggling to free herself from the wolf above her. The other two wolves stepped out of the pentagram and hurried towards Alden and Asher. "Mother, Axel," Asher called out in a voice filled with relief. Catherine and Axel swiftly shifted into their human forms and loosened the vines holding him and Alden. "How did you know where to find us?" Alden asked, freeing his hands from the vines. "Astrid destroyed the moon. Didn't you feel the pain?""We felt it." Axel answered, grabbing Asher's arm and lifting him up. "I felt like I would die. Mother and Father were down too, until suddenly, the pain disappeared. I don't know how it happened, but I used that opportunity to lead them here.""It was Astrid." Asher replied. He held on to his side as his wound slowly began to heal. "Now that she has destroy
