Chapter 80

Elora’s POV.

Walking into Dominic’s room felt like getting punched by air. He looked tiny. All curled up on the bed, breathing so shallow I almost wondered if he was trying to disappear. Never seen him like that.

“Dominic,” I muttered, setting my bowl of water and herbs down with a little more force than necessary. He cracked one eye open at me, and wow, zero spark in there. Just pure bone-deep exhaustion.

“Elora…” His voice was pure gravel. “You shouldn’t be here.”

I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, well, I’m not exactly leaving you to marinate in your misery.” My hands were shaking as I put the rag I had watered, folded it, and laid it on his forehead, as carefully as I could. He flinched, pain or wounded pride, who knows. With him, it’s always a toss-up. “Breaking a bond’s not just a paper cut, you know. Honestly, you’re lucky you’re not a corpse.”

He let out this dry, half-hearted laugh. “Lucky,” he echoed, closing his eyes. “Sure. Let’s go with that.”

So I stayed. Kept swapping out the damn rag when it went lukewarm, just rambling about anything, the council losing their minds, Dante doubling security, the newbies tossing prayers like they were trying to win a contest. Kept my mouth zipped about Mira. That bruise wasn’t ready to poke at.

Of course, he brought her up first.

“She’s gone.” He just blurted it, voice soft and wrecked, like he was telling the ceiling instead of me. “It’s weird. There’s… nothing. First time my brain isn’t a war zone.”

That word, quiet. Felt weirdly like a eulogy and a sigh of relief rolled together.

I swallowed. “You are going to survive this?”

He looked at me, and for a second he was just some guy, wrecked, lost, not the big bad Alpha everyone tripped over themselves for. “Eventually.” He tried to smile. Didn’t really work. “Don’t waste your worry on me, Elora.”

I snorted, voice shaking. “Yeah, that’s not happening. Somebody has to remind you you’re still human. Alpha or not, you still bleed.”

Something in him eased up, just a notch. His hand twitched, like maybe he wanted to reach for me. “Go get some sleep,” he said, suddenly soft. “You’ve done enough.”

“Sure,” I lied, faking a smile. “I’ll rest when you stop looking like that.”

He didn’t argue, just drifted. No point.

Time crawled. Candles melted to sad little nubs, air got colder, heavier. Dominic slipped in and out, mumbling names, nonsense, dreams. Once, he whispered “Mira.” That one stung. Not with longing, just this ugly, heavy guilt.

I sat, barely breathing, watching him. Then out of nowhere, his hand reached out and held onto mine.

“Dominic?” I whispered, but he was somewhere else. Wouldn’t let go. His whole body shook with pain and confusion.

I could have pulled away. Probably should’ve. Instead, I just let him hang on. Part pity, part… something else I didn’t want to name.

Eventually, his breathing evened out. I pulled my hand away, stood up, and my legs were in pain.

I slipped out, the door clicking shut behind me. The hallway was freezing, and the torches were barely hanging on. Pressed my palm to my chest, like it’d help my heart chill out. Just needed distance, anything but that room and all its ghosts.

Stepped outside. The night was freezing with cold biting my lungs. I sucked in a breath, eyes squeezed shut.

And, of course, Dante’s voice cut through everything.

“You shouldn’t be out here.”

I turned. There he was, leaning on the steps, half his face in shadow, moonlight catching on that stubborn jaw. No armor, just a shirt, sleeves rolled up, looking softer but still, you know, pure steel underneath. Classic Dante.

I didn’t even know how cold I was until he appeared and threw his coat over my shoulders and his scent filled me.

He kept his voice low, eyes locked on me. “You’re killing yourself, you know. Can’t save everyone and forget you exist, Elora.”

I scoffed, yanking my cloak tighter around me. “Oh, please. Like you’re one to talk. I’m not convinced you’ve slept since, what, last Thursday or something?”

He gave this little smirk. If you weren’t paying attention, you’d think you imagined it. “Touché.”

We just stood there. Not talking, just... marinating in the silence. It wasn’t awkward, just heavy. The sort of silence that hangs in the air like fog, making everything feel sort of breakable. His eyes stuck on me, way longer than was normal, and there it was again. That weird, dangerous spark. The kind that started the second I dragged him into my mess.

He inched closer, all careful like I might bolt for the trees. “You care about him a lot.” He didn’t even bother pretending it was a question.

I hesitated. “He’s... my Alpha.”

Dante’s face softened, but his eyes? There was a storm brewing in there. Something wild, like he was fighting off a whole army of feelings. “Yeah, that’s not what I meant.”

I tried to say something clever, but my brain just went static. How do you tell someone you’re drowning in emotions you don’t even have words for?

“I care about the pack,” I finally said, voice barely above a whisper. “I care about... doing what’s right, I guess.”

He stared at me for a second, then let out a sigh. “You try to carry everything, Elora. Have you ever thought maybe you could let someone else take some of it? Just once?”

I looked up at him, the guy who used to hate me and now, I don’t even know what he is. His eyes were so warm when he stared at me.

“I’m fine,” I whispered, lying.

He just shook his head, almost smiling. “Not even close.”

Before I could throw up some witty comeback, he just pulled me in carefully and gently. At first, I stood there, stiff as a board. Then... I just let go. Leaned into him.

I think we both were shocked that I didn’t pull away.

Dominic’s POV I stared at Elora. She is the real Luna of this pack. She was always so ready to do things for the pack. She has gone through a lot for this pack. My mind rolled back to when we were little and she would always say things she would do for the promise she would become Luna. I always laughed, and to him, he rages and makes a great Luna. Although I never believed it then, I just said comfort to her. But look at her now... the only thing different here is that she is married to me instead of Dante. She loves Dante much more than she loves me, that I could tell, but the bond was stronger. I love her too, but my brother and I can possibly share her because of the love and the bond between the three of us. Elora would be our Luna, She would be both our wife, and Luna. This was the only thing I would do for my brother and her. I made my brother my Co Alpha so we can both be with Elora. The full moon climbed above us, old and bright, a silver coin tossed into midnight velv

Elora’s POVThey used to say peace came quietly. But honestly, it never crashed in like a battle or scorched like heartbreak. It just slipped in, soft as dawn, slow and gentle, so easy to miss until, one morning, you noticed the birds were singing again. The Crescent Moon was finally mending. The smoke stopped rising from the broken borders. Laughter started to echo where pain and crying used to fill the air, real laughter, the kind that wraps around you and promises things will get better. And me? I wasn’t sitting on a throne or standing next to any Alpha. I was right there in the middle of it all, with my people. Most mornings, I went to do my Luna duties. I help rebuild broken homes, paint houses, and make sure the children and adults are being treated well in the healer's chambers. I took care of nursing mothers and made sure there were enough supplies to last for the day. Nobody was left unattended. The young warriors still in training often trailed after me while I inspected the

Dante’s POVHaving Elora fully back was something that lifted a happy mood in me. Although I didn't like the fact that we both had to share her, and I am not sure how, there was nothing I could do. I only wanted her to live and that was enough for me. I didn't want to be greedy. When Dominic sank his fang into her neck, I felt something in me snap. It was like him touching something that was not his in the first place. But he is my brother and there was nothing I could do. He was the Alpha and Elora was his wife. Even if she were my mate, I couldn't possibly stop her husband from trying to save her life. After we were done reconnecting, I left for my room to freshen up and catch a little sleep that I've been missing for quite some days. I was sure Elora was fully recovered now and would not slip in and out of consciousness anymore. Immediately, my head hit the bed after my cold shower, and I drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a long day, and I needed to be clear-headed

Elora’s POV I stared at the empty space within me with the moon goddess's voice echoing around me. She seemed to be humming a song. Everywhere felt so peaceful and I wished I could stay here for a little while. Back in the real world, I didn't want to take part in a lot of evil. I felt a sudden jerk and jumped."What is that?" I asked the moon goddess."You are being called back to life. It looks like your time with me has ended," She said, her voice soft."But I don't want to go just yet. At least not until everything is settled between the two brothers," I argued."Elora. This isn't about you. Your devotion to the pack is what has kept the brothers alive. If you don't go back to them, I'm afraid of the outcome," I shook my head violently. This isn't happening"Then at least tell me who I am going to choose," I pleaded."They are both yours..."Before I could make out what she had meant, I felt my body being pulled back as I tried to resist. When I opened my eyes, the air felt of

Dominic’s POVElora’s breathing was shallow. Each breath she took gave me a scare. It felt like forever, and my heart raced so hard. Her skin was really pale, and the mark Dante left was disappearing fast.“No,” Dante choked out, shaking her. “No, no, stay with me—Elora, please!”The healer’s hands trembled over her herbs and glowing bottles. She couldn’t pick one, couldn’t commit. Her voice cracked. “Her energy’s fading… her spirit’s slipping!” Her eyes darted to me, wide and scared. “If one bond won’t hold, let it pass through both. Bite her, Alpha.”I froze.Me? Bite her?I looked down. Elora’s lips parted, her face too still. I forced myself to breathe and met Dante’s eyes. He looked as if he would snap. “Don’t touch her,” he snapped. “She’s mine.”The healer’s voice cut through everything, sharp and furious. “You fool! If she dies, she’s no one’s!”Dante’s jaw clenched. That anger washed away, replaced by fear. His eyes flicked to mine. He swallowed, then nodded, slow and stiff

Elora’s POVMy chest squeezes up tight, first that low, annoying ache, then bam, it’s like a fist yanks the air right out of my lungs. I open my mouth to say I’m fine, but nope, the words just... melt. The room spins and goes all watercolor blurry.“Elora?” Dante’s voice, all echoey and weird, comes at me from somewhere underwater. Then the universe just flips sideways. The floor's gone. I’m weightless, but someone’s arms are strong; catch me before I faceplant. My head lolls back. I hear Dominic yelling for the healer, but his voice is just noise, buried under this ringing that’s taken over my brain.“Elora, look at me!” Dante’s voice cracks, desperate. He grabs for my wrist, checking for a pulse. I catch a glimpse of his eyes, those ridiculous golden eyes that always made me feel safe, they’re wide with panic now.“I can’t... she’s not...” the healer stammers, and honestly, that’s not what you want to hear right now.Everything dissolves into chaos. Hands everywhere, pressing cold c
