CHAPTER ONE

"Father what's wrong with you, what happened," I kept yelling at the top of my voice, clutching hard to His shirt and I could feel tears itching at the corner of my eyes, forcing itself to come out but I had to push it back.

My father was dying, this wasn't the best situation to cry.

He was the only one that I had in the world, my mother died when I was barely five years old.

"Call the physician," the beta kept yelling and I was carried out of the room as fresh tears poured down from my eyes.

The yells flooded out slowly from my ears as fresh tears poured down slowly from my eyes.

I just shifted a few weeks ago and I had not even celebrated my wolf shifting ceremony. Nothing could certainly happen to my dad, at least not now.

I watched closely, my eyes were alert and I noticed the chief physician walking Briskly towards me while my father continued to cry out in pain, clutching to his chest as a slight and dry cough escaped simultaneously from his mouth.

"Do whatever that you want to do sir but please, don't allow father to die, please. He is all that I have to." I pleaded with him, holding firmly to his robe.

"Don't worry princess, he will certainly be alright but you will have to leave now so that we can take good care of him." He returned to me.

I Walked outside and I could bear gossip from different corners coming from different gatherings of servants.

Nobody knew exactly what happened to him, all we knew was that he woke that morning yelling out in pain, and ever since that time, he hasn't said a single word to anyone.

Then, I saw the chief physician coming out of the room and I ran quickly to him with wild expectations in my innocent eyes, red from the fact that I have been crying way too much.

I held his shirt tightly as I stared into his eyes. "My dad, what happened to him? Why has he been screaming nonstop? Why did he stop all of a sudden or is he fine now?" I inquired quickly. But he stared at me, shook his head and walked away without spitting out a word from his mouth

. At the sight of this, I shivered hard with fear. I knew for sure that something was wrong.

"What's happening here?" I yelled as fresh tears poured down from my eyes. "And where is my father?" I inquired quickly, already shivering hard with fear.

The physician looked at me again, this time with so much pity. "I am sorry princess but I will have to tell you this, whatever that is wrong with him is beyond us and I think he has only a few minutes to live." He announced.

The words struck me like lightning and I shivered hard with fear. I was gradually dying out and I felt like ending my life there. The only person that I had in the world was about to die and nothing could be done about it.

"What happened to him? Why is it that his sickness is beyond your power and why was it so sudden?" Multiple questions ran out from my mouth.

At this point, I didn't even know what to do. I had cried so much that there was no atom of tears in my eyes to spare anymore.

"No princess, he was poisoned," he returned and I fell to the ground heartbroken. I thought about the pain that he was going to experience before his death. I ran over to the room as fast as I could.

"Father, I cried out loud holding his robe as fresh tears poured down from my eyes.

He opened his eyes slowly and stared at me. He coughed slightly and I held his hands staring right into his eyes.

"I am about to die now, Aurora  ànd this is a crucial moment for the pack," he said to me. He brought out his ring that signified his Alphaship and slipped it into my fingers.

"I know you are young but I know you can lead the pack and take it out of this moment," he said to me.

"But," I tried to say but he placed his hands on my mouth to prevent me from saying a word.

"Don't say a single word child. Don't be afraid of those Alphas that are raging war against the pack, I know that you will be able to drive them away and you have my blessing," he said to me and I slammed on the bed.

"But," I tried to say but I noticed that his eyes were closed and cold Shivers ran down my spine.

"Father, father please don't Leave me," I sobbed. Some of the servants of the physician came and covered his face with a White cloth.

But I knew that he was never going to come back to me.  A few weeks later, I stood before his grave, pouring sand on his body with my heart beating and every part of me reaching out to him.

My Hands were clenched, trying hard to control myself from jumping into that grave with him. A strand of tears dropped from my eyes and landed on his corpse.

"Farewell father." I said slowly but tj words came out from the ocean of my heart.

"I will make sure that I hunt down your Killers and end their lives, no matter how long it takes. Every single one of them." I vowed from the depths of my heart.

A week after his death, I lay in my room in the pack house alone. I had not yet decided to reveal that my father had chosen a female as his successor.

I was scared of failure. So scared that I remained in my room but his words kept ringing in my ears. "You can do this, you can be the Alpha of the pack." He had whispered into my ears that night.

I sighed and brought out the ring closer to myself and caressed it. "I can't do this," I said to myself again with a long sigh.

"You can Aurora. And your father knew this, that's exactly why he gave you this task." My wolf, Aurora said to me and a Long sigh escaped from my mouth.

"I could not let my father down, not when he had placed so much hope in me," I said to myself and rose slowly from my seat. I was going to the elder of the pack to inform him about my father's wish.

But when I got outside, the place was empty and I wondered about myself. There was not a single guard around the whole place which was usually unusual.

"And what is happening?" I thought in my head confused. Suddenly, I began to hear some strange sounds coming from the throne room.

"Could that be where all of them went to?" I thought in my head I was confused this time. "I will have to find out for myself," I whispered to myself and I began to walk slowly toward the throne room.

My heart was pounding, my legs shivering and my lips trembling. Just then, I saw a servant coming out from the throne room and I shot a deadly glare at him.

"Hey, you." I shot quickly at him and he almost fell to the ground at his strong halt. He was  shivering hard with fear as I started walking closer to him and he pulled his eyes down so as not to get eye contact with me.

I knew for sure that something was wrong somewhere. I could sense it, there was tension in the hair.

"Good morning  my princess." He greeted me quickly but I didn't return the courtesy.

"What's happening over there?" I shot at him while he continued to shiver hard with fear.

"Nothing my princess." He returned quickly, still trying hard not to cross my eye and I could tell that everything was certainly not right and he was lying to me.

I stared at his eyes for some time. "But what could he be trying to hide from me?" I thought in my head I was really confused.

"I am going to tell him the truth." I thought in my head.

"How dare you lie to me?" I growled at him and he shivered even harder with fear.

"My princess, please believe me. There is certainly nothing going on there. You should return to the room now." He said to him,

"He is such a terrible liar." I thought in my head.

"Okay. Let me believe you but when I find out that you are eventually lying, just know that it would be the end of your life." I returned to him with a dark Smile hanging on my face and he got the message immediately, I already knew the truth and there was absolutely nothing that he would say that was going to stop me now

"Wait, princess." He yelled at me from behind and I turned around with a frown hanging on my face

"And what is it again?" I shot at him.

"It's the beta of the pack. He is forcing the council of Alphas to crown him the Alpha King of the pack." He announced, still shivering. "And he has warned that you shouldn't know about it." He noted and immediately he spat out the word from his mouth, my face twisted with much shock.

The Beta of the pack? How could it be that he was now going against the wishes of my father. He had always been loyal to him so what just happened all of a sudden.

"Or maybe he has Been pretending all this while." My subconsciousness yelled out from the inside of me.

I would have to go in there and find out for myself.

I walked towards the throne room. Stamping my foot on the floor and forming a beating pattern with my racing heart. When I got to the place, I turned my eyes around. He stood before the throne and all the elder council members were rounded up.

"I order  you to make me the Alpha King of this pack or it will not be cool with you Guys." He shot at them while they shivered hard with fear.

"But we can't, we need the ring of the previous Alpha to make you king." They announced to him as he growled with anger.

"Can't you just make me the Alpha without that deem ring?" He growled at them. "I have searched for that ring everywhere and I don't seem to know where that fool of an Alpha had kept it." He growled.

I squeezed my hands with anger at the fact that he was calling my father a fool and I wished I could just tear him apart with my bare hands.

"I have the ring." I shot quickly and everyone turned towards me quickly and he shot a smirk at me.

"Be a good she-wolf and give me the ring princess." He shot an evil smile at me and I returned a glare at him.

"Since I have the ring, the pack rightfully belongs to me right?" I blotted out with a smirk hanging on my face and he gasped. "Have you ever seen a female rule any pack?" He shot at me.

"Then I will be the first." I returned to him. "You can but remember that you will have to pass through me first." He shot at me and I swelled with anger.

I shot a glare at him with hate and anger written all over my face and I felt like tearing him apart with my hands.

"Take the ring from her immediately." She ordered the guards but none of them moved as I had expected and his face flamed up with anger.

"Didn't you just hear what I said?" He growled at them with so much hate and anger in his voice.

"They certainly can't obey you because I am the one with the ring." I returned quickly as the smirk on my face returned and this Time, it was much wider.

His face twisted with hate and anger. "What are you even doing with the ring? Why don't you just return it to me? You are nothing but a weakling, how do you think that you can ever be able to rule the pack even if you are given the opportunity to?" He growled at me and my face twisted with hate and anger.

"I have all it takes to rule the pack," I growled back at him. "Is that so? Why don't we have a duel, whoever wins gets the pack." He shot a deadly smile at me.

I wanted to prove to him and myself that I was enough to rule the pack and I wasn't going to back out from a fight just like that.

The air stood still and everyone waited to see what I was going to say. "I accept the challenge." I returned to the surprise of everyone seated there.
