Chapter 007

My door yanked open and Mira walked in holding her chest, my view was blurry but I could still see her face clearly. Concern. Pity…or maybe I was imagining things.

“Are you okay?” She questioned curling up beside me, I saw her fist clench on her chest, same part where I felt pain…is she suffering the pain with me?

“Damn! What's happening to you?, I feel hurt” She questioned again coming closer, the pain subsided the moment her hands held my shoulder, my chest relived and she fell down spitting out blood.

“Are you okay?” She nodded, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. Why did the pain stop when she touched me, it usually aches till the nest morning or midnight.

Is it because she's a witch? Because she's related to the curse? Unanswered questions filled my head as she gripped her neck like something was pumped there.

“I can't breathe” she choked suddenly ,tapping me, I quickly cupped her into my arms running out of the room.

Doctor Maria placed a wet towel on her forehead and walked to me “this isn't normal” doctor Maria muttered moving her head sideways.

“What is it, is she okay?”

“She'd absorbed the curse into her body…I've never heard of it but…” Another batch of questions filled my head.

“Absorbed the curse?”

“Yeah, she took it into her body and it's dangerous for her, she's not that strong” I turned to stare at her pale body lying on the bed, she looked very sick, her lips had gone white and her arms were shaking.

“Is there anything to do?”

“Yeah I've given her some supplements, it'd stop before midnight, avoiding letting her touch you when your curse escalates or she'd take it into her” I nodded, doctor Maria bowed and walked out, I exhaled walking to the side of her bed.

I pulled out the chair and sat close to her, I got lost staring at her pale face…

“Kael?” I heard a faint voice murmur, I sprang up immediately staring at her open eyes.

“Are you okay? You were in pain” I swallowed, nodding as she asked.

“You should worry about yourself, I'm fine”

She stood up fine and we both walked out, the pack members kept staring like they could see her soul, I can't even afford to trust her one bit, staring at my pack’s survivor shows me I can't make anymore mistakes.

“I have to be somewhere you should go” she nodded and trailed off, I turned walking towards the old library.

I need new materials, I have to break this bond, I don't know how but…I've got to stop whatever the moon goddess is planning.

Mira's POV

I woke up with a throbbing headache. Last night's incident remains a mystery to me. I inflicted pain on myself by touching him…I can't even explain the cruciality of the pain.

I exhaled shaking the thought off, eyes didn't get off me as I walked together with Kael, they must be thinking about the thorns and all but, I don't even know myself.

“I have to be somewhere, you should go” Kael murmured and I nodded, he trailed to the old library, I shrugged walking towards my room.

Sage was waiting inside when I got there “hey, are you okay?” I rushed to her the moment I saw her.

She nodded, pushing out a tray of food, like I'd upgraded. They'd changed the plate to a good-looking one “how did you do it?”

I pulled the tray closer to myself and looked up “do what?”

“You prevented the bond break, then some thorns and the tearing of wolves, though it looked good to see your fight for us…it was confusing, I mean, aren't you supposed to be human?”

“Exactly! I'm supposed to be human, maybe your land is having an effect on me because something like that has never happened…not even in my imagination” chills ran down my spine as I spoke, I shrugged digging into the food.

“The others seem to be doubting you, they think you'd really harm them” my chest tightened as Sage informed me.

“Hurt them? That's ridiculous because I'm literally struggling with my health right now” I chugged down the water and pushed the tray to sage.

“Sorry, we'd all be fine” I nodded and she walked away.

I fell on my bed staring at the ceiling, I felt so lonely, if only Jess was here ... .I mean I wouldn't be so bored, when did I get into so much shit.

A woman sat in a dark room with candles lit up circling around her.

Pot on fire, she placed things inside and soon it exploded, dark smokes filled the room and when it cleared she stood up and turned with a tricky smirk. Mum?

I sprung up sweating profusely, I'd fallen asleep and was just woken by a nightmare, or not.

I held my chest trying to catch my breath, I can't seem to define what I just saw, or am I having illusions?

Mom? Performing whatever it was that she was doing, is it because I miss her? Or is she a witch? Did she curse Kaels' park?

Questions filled my head as I curled

up on my bed, pulling my knees to myself.
