Ashley’s P.O.V.

The moment the words left my mouth, I expected silence, hoping that they both would take a step back.

But of course, Vincenzo decided to ruin the peace.

“Finally, a sensible thing from you.”

He spoke, leaning back in the chair with that infuriating arrogance.

“We shouldn’t celebrate when people are still suffering. But some insensitive jerks love wasting time, wooing other people’s mates instead of serving their nation.”

His sharp words hit like a slap. My hands curled into fists by my sides, yet I couldn’t suppress my rage. Before Grayson could say a word, I shot up to my feet and spoke, my voice trembling with fury.

“Just stop it, Alpha!

You don’t know what you are talking about.”

I didn’t give him the satisfaction of seeing a crack in my composure and turned on my heels, storming out of the room. The sound of my heels echoed down the hallway.

But I was barely halfway down the corridor when a hand clamped around my wrist, jerking me to stop.

“Ashley!”

Ashley’s P.O.V.The moment Luna’s frail voice called me, my feet moved before my mind could catch up. I rushed to her side, dropping down beside the wheelchair as my knees no longer knew how to hold me up anymore.A sharp, stabbing pain pierced my chest, seeing her like this. In my memories, she had always been the unshakable Luna, regal and commanding even in the darkest time. My voice cracked as I turned to the doctor.“How could you allow her to travel in this state? Look at her!She is struggling hard to breathe!”A lump rose in my throat. “Did she get the cure? Why is she like this?”Before the doctor could answer, a trembling hand reached for me. Luna Rose’s palm rested against the crown of my head, caressing me gently. She inhaled deeply, the mask hissing as she pulled it away. I panicked, reaching to put it back, but she shook her head firmly. “My life was saved by the cure.” Luna spoke, her voice thin but steady.“But the weakness will take time, Ashley. I am old now.”Rel

Ashley’s P.O.V.Enzley’s name rang in my ears, echoing with the weight of truth I had tried to hide. My heart slammed against my ribs as though it wanted to burst free and avoid this confrontation.“I don’t want to hear anything from you.” Shaking my head, I tried to wrench myself free. But Vincenzo’s hands closed firmly on my shoulders, keeping me in place. His eyes burned into mine, refusing to let me escape.“Enzley,” he said slowly, “don’t you see? That name... It’s us. Enz from me, and Ley from you. You named him as the perfect sign of our love, Ashley.”The words pierced me deeper than any blade. My breath hitched as I felt the floor tilt beneath my feet. Vincenzo was right!I hadn’t realized it before, but my hands had written that name as though guided by something beyond logic, beyond conscious thought. My heart had chosen it, stitching up together even when I swore, we were broken.A tear stung the corner of my eye, blurring his face as emotions tore me apart. I hated mysel

Ashley’s P.O.V.Alex’s words kept echoing in my head as I sat on the edge of the bed, staring blankly at the wall. “Cassidy is only an omega now!”Conflicted wasn’t even the word to describe my troubled emotional state. My first instinct was suspicion, doubting Alex’s intentions. Was he lying to protect his Alpha?Or was he sugarcoating some cruel secret, trying to manipulate me back towards Vincenzo? But I rejected this thought as soon as it crossed my mind. Alex wasn’t that kind of man. I knew him well enough to know his tone wasn’t fabricated tonight. Moreover, he wasn’t the one to bow to anyone’s will, not even his Alpha's. And lastly, Vincenzo couldn’t have possibly known I would call Alex now. There wouldn't be a chance for him to prepare a cover story. All of this reasoning hammered my head, hinting towards the truth that made my heart clench: Alex was honest!I pressed a hand over my mouth and gasped, feeling the heavy weight of realization crushing my soul.“What the hell

Ashley’s P.O.V.Grayson’s head snapped up, his eyes glowing with a wolfish fire I rarely saw in him. He growled deep in his chest, the sound rumbling through the air.“I don’t need your pity, Alpha Vincenzo. Don’t think I can’t fight only because of my health issues.I will fight you as many times as it takes.”The tension cracked like a whip between them, their stares clashing like swords. I opened the drawer and took out the first aid box, slamming it on the table with more force than necessary.“Enough!!!” I spoke firmly.“Both of you, stop acting like children.”My hand shook slightly as I dabbed antiseptic against the cut on Grayson’s lips, my heart aching at the sight of blood on his skin. His wolf was already weak, and this injury must have taken a toll on him. I noted it in my mind to discuss these recent wounds with his doctor tomorrow and gazed at Vincenzo, who was already glaring at me like I was committing a crime. “Alpha, you have seen what the actual problem is. And yo

Ashley’s P.O.V.Despite the initial shock, I forced my feet to move, the click of my heels echoing in the quiet room. Every step felt heavier, but I made it to the table and sat down, waiting for an explanation.Thankfully, the door opened again a few moments later, and Grayson rolled in, his assistant Oswald, guiding his wheelchair with practiced ease. He was dressed formally, but what took me off guard was the bouquet of fresh lilies and white roses resting in his lap. Grayson stopped at the edge of the table and glanced up at me with a faint, unreadable smile, extending the flowers. “For you!” He said simply.I hesitated for a heartbeat before taking them with a thanks. Oswald helped him to sit on the chair, and then left after nodding politely, closing the door behind him. The candles flickered between us as I set the bouquet beside my plate and asked him directly.“What’s going on here, Grayson? Jess told me about a formal dinner.”Grayson’s expressions stayed carefully compos
