The days that followed were a blur of emotions, uncertainty, and confusion. Every time Eve tried to grasp the enormity of the situation, her mind would snap back, overwhelmed by the weight of what Luca, Lila, and the other Silverclaws had told her. A part of her wished she could wake up from this nightmare, but there was no waking up from reality. She was here, and this was happening. She couldn’t escape her destiny, no matter how hard she tried.

Luca had given her a few days to adjust, to process what had been revealed to her. But those days felt like they lasted an eternity. Every time she closed her eyes, images of wolves—huge, powerful, primal—would flood her mind. She saw herself among them, not as an observer, but as one of them. Her heart would race, and she’d wake up in a cold sweat, her pulse thundering in her ears.

It was a constant reminder that what they had told her was true. She wasn’t just a human. She wasn’t just Eve Langley, a young woman seeking answers. She was something else. Something she still didn’t understand.

Luca had insisted that she begin her training soon. He made it clear that the longer she delayed, the harder it would be for her to control the power building inside of her. It was time to face the truth—to learn what she needed to do to survive. But there was a part of her that still clung to the idea of normalcy, the notion that she could somehow turn her back on it all and go back to the life she had known.

But as she stood before the towering walls of the Silverclaw compound, with the howls of wolves echoing through the distance, Eve knew there was no going back.

It was early morning when she found herself in the clearing outside the compound, standing face-to-face with Luca. The air was cool, the fog still clinging to the ground like a blanket, and the light of the rising sun had just begun to stretch across the landscape, casting long shadows.

“You ready?” Luca asked, his voice calm but with an edge of urgency. His gaze was intense, unwavering.

Eve swallowed hard. “I guess so,” she said, trying to sound confident, though the fluttering in her stomach betrayed her.

Luca didn’t say anything more. He simply gestured toward the open area before them. “We start here.”

Eve’s heart thudded painfully against her ribs as she took tentative steps forward. The ground beneath her feet felt strange, as though it were shifting beneath her, reacting to her presence. It was as if the earth itself recognized the change within her, the pull of something ancient, something primal.

As she stood there, Luca’s piercing gaze never left her. His expression was unreadable, but there was a subtle tension in his jaw, a hint of concern that he quickly masked.

“Don’t be afraid of the shift,” he said, his voice low. “It’s not as scary as it seems. It’s just your body, your wolf, learning to come together. The first time can be overwhelming, but you’ll get through it.”

“I don’t know if I can,” Eve confessed, her voice shaky. “What if I can’t control it? What if I hurt someone?”

“You won’t hurt anyone,” Luca reassured her, his voice softening. “I’ll be here with you. I won’t let anything happen.”

Eve took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. The fear was there, gnawing at her, but it was quickly replaced by something else—curiosity, maybe even anticipation. She had no idea what it would feel like to shift, to become the wolf inside her. But she knew she had to do it. The training wasn’t just a formality—it was essential. She couldn’t afford to be weak, not when everything was riding on her. She was the key to the prophecy, to the survival of the Silverclaws. If she didn’t learn to control the wolf inside of her, everything could fall apart.

“Focus on your breathing,” Luca continued, his voice steady and calming. “Relax. Let your body and your wolf connect.”

Eve nodded, trying to follow his instructions. She closed her eyes, taking slow, deep breaths, trying to push aside the panic that threatened to consume her. It was a struggle, but she concentrated on the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest. Gradually, she began to feel a shift within herself, a tingling sensation that started at the base of her spine and spread outward, down her arms and legs, up to her head. It was as if her entire body was coming alive in a new way.

Suddenly, she felt it—a pull, an irresistible urge to shift. It wasn’t just a physical sensation; it was something deep inside her, something primal, something that felt right. She wanted to run. She wanted to let go.

“Good,” Luca’s voice broke through her thoughts, steadying her. “Now let it happen.”

Eve’s heart pounded in her chest as the shift began. It wasn’t painful, not exactly, but it was intense. Her muscles stretched and rippled beneath her skin, and her bones seemed to shift, rearranging themselves in ways she couldn’t fully comprehend. Her senses heightened, and the world around her grew sharper, more defined. She could smell the earth beneath her feet, the distant scent of pine, the crisp morning air.

Her hands and feet began to change, claws extending from her fingertips as her body began to morph into something other. She gasped, stumbling, the sensation of the shift overwhelming her.

“Steady, Eve,” Luca’s voice called again, and she could hear the note of encouragement in it. “You’re doing great. You’re in control.”

Eve clenched her teeth, her body fighting the change, but the wolf inside her was far stronger than she had anticipated. Her vision blurred for a moment, and then, with a final surge of power, she felt herself complete. Her body was no longer human. It was pure wolf—muscular, powerful, sleek fur covering her body, her senses completely attuned to the world around her.

It was strange. She could feel the earth beneath her paws in a way she had never experienced before. The world smelled different, sharper, more intense. Every sound around her seemed amplified, the faint rustling of leaves in the breeze, the distant chirp of birds, the beating of her own heart.

For a moment, she just stood there, unsure of what to do. The wolf inside her was still new, unfamiliar. She didn’t know how to control it, how to move with it, how to let it guide her.

“Now, run,” Luca instructed.

Eve hesitated, but the wolf’s instincts were undeniable. Without thinking, she lowered her body, her muscles coiling like a spring, and then—she was running. Her legs moved with a grace and power she had never known. The wind rushed past her, filling her ears, and she felt free, more alive than she ever had. There was a rawness to it, an exhilarating rush of freedom that left her breathless.

She ran faster, her paws hitting the earth with a rhythmic pounding. The forest around her blurred as she moved, the trees flashing by in a kaleidoscope of greens and browns. She felt the ground shift beneath her, her body responding to it, learning to move in sync with the natural world.

When she finally slowed, her heart was racing, her breath coming in heavy pants. She stopped in a small clearing, looking back at Luca, who stood watching her with an unreadable expression.

“Well?” he asked, his voice filled with quiet anticipation. “How did it feel?”

Eve shifted back into her human form, stumbling a bit as her legs returned to their usual shape. She was breathing hard, still recovering from the rush of the shift. “It was… incredible,” she admitted, her voice shaking. “But also terrifying. I don’t know how to control it.”

Luca nodded, his face serious. “That’s why we’re here. To help you learn. The wolf is inside you now, but it’s not just about power. It’s about control. About understanding your connection to it.”

Eve met his gaze, the weight of the situation settling in. There was no turning back now. She had to learn, had to control this power, not just for her own sake, but for the sake of the packs. The prophecy was real. And her destiny was intertwined with the fate of the Silverclaws and the Shadowfangs.

“I’m ready,” Eve said, her voice stronger than it had been before. “I’ll learn. I’ll do whatever it takes.”

Luca’s eyes softened slightly, a hint of approval in them. “Good. Because we don’t have much time.”

They feared what you might choose.”Eve tore her gaze from the parchment and looked at her aunt. “Then tell me—what exactly am I supposed to choose?”Helena hesitated before exhaling. “The prophecy speaks of two paths. One leads to salvation, where the packs unite under your rule, bringing peace. The other… leads to destruction. A war so fierce it will tear apart the werewolf world forever.”A chill ran down Eve’s spine. “How do I know which path I’m on?”“You don’t,” Helena admitted. “But one thing is certain—the Elders believe you’re a threat.
