Tick tock. Tick tock. The clock moved slowly as I stared at it for the tenth time in a minute. My heart was pounding and no matter how I tried to calm down, I couldn't stop thinking about the fate of my people. My rogue family that were most likely in the presence of others being ridiculed and put to death. I shuddered at the thought and moved out of the bed, my hand shakily carrying the water on the bedside table.

I quickly gulped it down until nothing but a drop was left inside. I frowned at it and poured another glass from the pitcher beside it, holding it up to my lips as beads of sweat pooled on my forehead. I walked over to the only open window beside my bed and peered down, but there was nothing to see except shrubs and a small garden.
