Chapter 6: Are you seriously jealous of me?

*ASA TRINE*

There was a roar of whispers following us.

“Who is that girl with Cain?”

“Is he kidnapping her?”

“By the way, she isn’t struggling against him could it be that he has done something to her?”

Cain had a reputation in this pack.

The reputation of a killer and a dangerous man. He was the most skilled fighter in the entire pack and wasn’t a person who liked entertaining anyone. Therefore, though famous, people usually misjudged him.

I would rather say he was infamous, to be honest and I felt a tinge of guilt prick me when I realized that if not for today and if not for the fact that he was my mate, I would have likely followed the petty folly and continued to believe rumors about this genuinely good man.

And all because he didn’t mind or bother to correct them.

My face had been turned towards his chest in such a manner that only the back of my hair was visible and every time when I tried to face the crowd to let my identity be known he would swiftly press me back against him.

Glaring at him from my position, giving him a serious side eye, I knew he noticed my annoyance but his emotionless face gave nothing away making me wonder just what was this man thinking.

Why wouldn’t he let me clear up the rumors?

“Cain, who is she? Did you…” The Gamma’s worried voice trailed off as he freely came down to a conclusion. He had been a man in his early fifties and had by now known Cain well enough to be aware that he could be dragging in a body of a rogue or an offender any day to the dungeons to have them be prosecuted rightfully.

This wasn’t the first time that this happened and although his process wasn’t right, he had pure intentions.

I was about to turn to look at Gamma Caleb but a growl stopped me as I felt myself being squeezed to Cain’s chest and then in a menacingly low voice he growled, “Keep your hands away, Gamma.”

By the smell of the various dishes lingering in the air I could make out that we must have been standing in the hallway of the dining room in the pack house, that also meant that a number of people were present there gawking at the spectacle that my lovely mysterious mate was putting up for them.

Without another word he then moved forward to wherever he had decided to take me, right after I had been discharged from the hospital. When he had driven me to the packhouse I had voiced my distaste of having to see my former mate and his new plaything glaring holes at me but in a reassuring and firm manner Cain had said, “You don’t have to worry about anything. I will take care of you just stay quiet and obey me for a little bit.”

It was right after that when he had picked me up in his arms and had me stay mute for the past three minutes as I heard people murmur rumors about my mate continuously.

Finally, his feet came to a stop and my curiosity that had been surfing a wave of different thoughts wanted to break from his hold and look at where we were but I held still and a series of knocks later I heard a soft “Come in”.

Following the instruction, I heard the creak of the door opening and as soon as we entered it, a musky and delicious smell of old wisdom and tales filled the air.

Everyone in the pack knew that Luna Catherine adored her library more than anything and if one wanted to find her somewhere then she would likely be here.

So, he had brought me to his mother, couldn’t he have just said so?

“Cain, what are you doing? Why are you holding Asa in your arms? Is she okay?” her words brought a smile to my face. It didn’t take her a second to recognize me even though she could only be able to view my side and back profile from the way Cain had me in his arms.

I had been overshadowed in my magnificent sister’s shadow almost everywhere thus making it difficult for my own people to recognize me but Luna had always been different.

The smile grew further on my face and biting my lips at the worry in her voice I wanted to laugh in happiness and hug her. She was truly going to be my mother now. That thought was the icing on the cake but would she accept me as her son’s mate?

Finally setting me down on the ground Cain looked at me and then turning me around with a simple smile playing on his lips he said, “Remember Mom, I promised to introduce my mate to you first before anyone else? I couldn’t keep that promise properly but still here she is, my beautiful mate, Asa Trine.”

“Was she the reason why I had the Gamma contact me, telling me that you had brought another person in but drugged this time? And you even refused to let anyone near you?” She asked, humor evident in her voice as she glanced at him with a warm gaze and then at our intertwined fingers.

Cain refused to say anything as he just looked away and to my surprise in the warm light of the sun’s rays that had a mellow aura cast this magical place, a very light red tinged his cheeks in an unbelievably adorable manner.

‘Mate is blushing!’ Xara cheered inside and I suppressed an ‘aww’ from escaping my lips.

“You asked me to stay quiet and hide my face because you wanted Luna to see me first before anyone else? You know that they all have already seen my face before, right?” I laughed at him as I lightly swung his hands to make him look at me.

Bringing his burning gold eyes down to mine he licked his lips as he corrected me, “They had seen you before as just Asa Trine, a pack member but you will now soon be introduced as Asa Trine, my mate and the future Luna of this pack.”

The last bit although common knowledge made me nervous when I heard him say it.

Was I actually good enough for that position?

I didn’t hold a candle to Luna Catherine and her abilities.

Before I could reply to him, I was suddenly snatched from his hold and into a pair of soft and comforting arms. A squeal followed soon after and the angelic laughter of Luna reverberated against the walls as she said, “Welcome to the family Asa! I am so happy to have you as a daughter.”

It was a long long time after that I had been able to feel a protective comfort of a mother’s touch who I could acknowledge as mine.

Snuggling closer to her I had only just reveled in the happiness when again I felt myself being pulled away, this time with a firmer grasp as I looked at Cain’s eyes fixated on his mother in a steely gaze.

“Are you seriously jealous of me? I am your mother, Cain!” she scolded him but it was only halfhearted as the amusement showed on her face with a small smile tugging her lips up.

Suddenly her face became sour and sighing she shook her head as she said, “Seems like there is some kind of ruckus created in the dining room, I’ll have to go and take a look but Asa don’t go anywhere I have so much to talk to you about and also let’s all have a family dinner tonight. I have already mind linked your family.”

Saying that she quickly walked away leaving the two of us alone.

“Why did you pull me away when the Luna was hugging me? I wanted to feel her affection more,” I said pouting at my mate who looked at me with darkened eyes.

“Don’t look so happy in someone else’s arms except mine,” he said, a hint of warning in his voice as he pushed his hard body against mine, letting me feel the heat of his muscles.

“But I liked being doted on by a mother again,” I pouted and realizing the hidden sadness behind my words, his eyes slightly hesitated as they focused on my jabbed-out lips and then sighing he said, “Fine but only my mother and no one else.”

He acted tough and he might be a bit overbearing but he was really just a big adorable ball of floof inside.

Taking the initiative, I propped myself up on my toes and kissing his lips sweetly I said, “Thank you.”

I was slowly learning how to interact with him and by far he had only just been sweet in my eyes and I was hoping that he would stay that way.

Grumbling he pulled away as he glared ahead and then sighing like his mother he said, “I need to go and clarify some senseless rumors in the pack about us, Mom is calling me but you stay right here, okay?”

Nodding at him I motioned for him to go on as I realized that the ruckus must have been because of Cain suspiciously carrying me all the way in the pack house. He seemed reluctant but parted a few seconds after, when I pushed him towards the door and said, “I promise to stay here and wait for you, so go and come back soon.”

It was weird to be talking to him and yet a mere look at him now was making my heart gallop like a horse.

Turning around I surveyed the room that I had only ever had taken a passing glance before which now had been a place I was readily invited.

Who could have known that my fate would take such a twist to have me mated to the future Alpha of the pack?

“You seem happy.”

The voice rancid with venom made me freeze in my place.

“I did say that I would make sure that you would never be happy, remember?” Clay asked mockingly as he took a slow stride towards me making me swiftly back away from him.

Thud!

My back hit against a bookshelf and realizing that I had instinctively acted scared from him, my body working this way as it remembered the pain that his rejection had caused, I steeled my mind and looked down at him.

His words from when he had mind linked me before came back to me and chuckling, I said, “You have succeeded, just by looking at you my mood has already plummeted.”

His nostrils flared at my disrespectful words that had been my true feelings in reality and stepping forward predatorily, he was about to lift his hand up when the room opened and in walked Luna.

“Asa, let’s go and- What are you doing here, Clay?” she asked eyeing her son with a smile.

“Nothing mom I was just greeting my sister-in-law,” he politely said with a kind smile making me almost let out a scoff.

Yeah, right!

“Oh good! You already know about it! Cain must have told you,” She clapped her hands as she brightly stared at him expectantly, as if wishing for him to agree with her.

Was she aware of the strain between the two brothers?

But Clay remained silent at this and turning around he shook his head and moved out of the room casting me a last glance as his voice again rang in my head, “Look forward to your last family dinner with us today.”

*ASA TRINE* “Come on, hurry up Devin, you can’t be this slow!” Leia scolded him and the sound of it came all the way up the stairs making me stifle a laugh. “You look beautiful, miss,” Ross said gaining my attention as he helped me with my skirt that had wrinkled below. “Oh no, Ross please don’t do that I don’t want you hurting your waist,” I said as I tried to stop him, but it was no use the old man had been so used to taking care that even after giving him retirement from all his work he would still find something to do. “Michael! That’s not right! The cake should be here!” she shouted again as I heard Michael shuffling around and again I tried to stop my laughter from filtering through at my sister's frustrated antics. “Its time to go down, Miss,” Ross said as he smiled at me and hooking my arm around his I took his help to carefully step down the steps as I saw Cain standing there at the end of it with little Kiara in his hands. She looked adorable in her frock that she had b

*ASA TRINE* “You called us, dad?” I asked peeping in. Nodding his head at me he motioned for us to sit down and filtering in I noticed that Luna had also been there looking through some books as she smiled at our presence. “I am sorry that I am late,” Clay’s voice filtered in but he stopped soon after when he saw the two of us already seated there, “I swear I haven’t done anything this time.” “We know that you haven’t done anything Clay, we are not here to complain about you,” Cain said huffing at his brother but a smile slipped on his face and I wondered if it would be right to separate these two brothers when their relations had only just started improving. “Well then what is this family reunion for?” he asked as he sat down on a chair beside Cain looking at his dad with a questioning look making Cain and I fix him with that same gaze. “Can’t I just miss my children?” Alpha asked as he looked at us and when we remained adamant in our gazes he laughed and said, “Fine you caught

*ASA TRINE* “No, wait, did you bring the bag of chips that I had kept on the table?” I asked stopping Cain as he looked at me and shaking his head in negative, he said, “Just give me a minute, I’ll be right back!” It had been two days since we had gotten back and thankfully the crowd had started straying away from us a slight bit for us to decide on going on a picnic today. Another thing that had been something really good was Cain’s carefreeness. He had been smiling more and he didn’t look like he had to be on his toes every moment of his life. I think a huge credit goes to Clay and I rejecting each other. This weird phenomenon had also seemingly improved his outlook of his brother as he didn’t seem to be worried about his presence around us anymore though it didn’t mean that he became any less possessive. Looking back at our home I waited for him to come back but it was taking him longer than I had thought, and I wondered if I had actually brought the chips with me. Looking

*ASA TRINE* “That’s enough Leia, please!” I begged as I tried to escape her aggressive hits that she had been raining down on me. After seeing me she had almost ran up to me and the first thing that she had done was to hit me with all the force and energy that she had in store. “Hey, that’s enough, please if not anything then think about the baby,” Michael tried to intervene and taking the opportunity I hid behind him feeling my head almost about to burst from the built up stress. I loved my sister and I knew that she wasn’t the cause of this but I was moments away from shouting at her. “She hadn’t been feeling well too Leia, please go easy on her,” Devin pleaded my case making Cain sit up straight as he looked at me and asked, “What? What happened to you?” I had wanted to speak to him the first thing when I saw him return but he had come back with the rest of the family and I couldn’t find a moment to take him away from them as the Luna showered him with love and Alpha pra

  • Fated to My Mate's Twin   Chapter 137: She didn’t go.

*ASA TRINE* Clay had disappeared away as mysteriously he had come and right now my brain had been combusting at the possibility of what was happening. Why did I feel those things that I would have only with a mate? What did it mean? “Asa? Are you alright?” Devin came in soon after Clay had dropped me off at the entrance of the pack house only to hide back into the crowds of people. Looking around for him I tried to see those same blue eyes that had once been the reason of my tears and later the cause of my determination to solve this mystery. I wonder what he must be thinking right now and whether he had been okay. ‘What is wrong with us Asa? I can feel a connection to Clay just as much as I can feel a connection to Cain but I feel as if my body is being torn apart in both directions,’ Xara panted in my head making me aware of my own body’s condition. Now that she said I had been feeling a slight pain in my chest since i got off the car and this must be the reason behind it. ‘Th

  • Fated to My Mate's Twin   Chapter 136: Sparks

*ASA TRINE* “Are you excited to go home?” Cain asked looking at me from where I had been sitting in the passenger seat of the car while Devin now occupied the back seat. “Did you even need to ask me that, of course I am!” I said looking at him to find that his eyes had been looking deeply relaxed as they flitted over my face. There seemed to still be some anxiety within him but he was assured now that he wasn’t going to lose me. But he wouldn’t let me away from his eyesight for more than two minutes. So maybe he wasn’t completely healed yet but at least he was on that path. “I am so glad that everything turned out as it did and that nothing happened to you,” Devin sighed from where he was sprawled on the back seat looking as if the life had been drained out of him. Right now he looked older than what he was and I gave him an apologetic smile. “Sorry that you had to manage and meet all the people who had wanted to meet me,” I said remembering the hordes of people who had been
