Chapter 5: Frustrated Alpha

last update Last Updated: 2025-05-27 05:49:08

“Alpha?” Jace gasped, his brain now functioning. Elias jerked back, hands flying into the air like he’d been burned. “I... I wasn’t...” Elias started.

Jace shot up, grabbing the blanket, pulling it to his chest like armor. His body trembled so hard the bed shook.

“Please… please don’t, sir...” Jace stammered.

“Don’t call me sir right now,” Elias said immediately, but with a soft tone.

“Sorry, sir. I mean...” Jace flinched again.

“Jace.”

Jace looked like he might cry,  run or vanish. But Elias couldn't see his face.

Elias could only hear his heart beating loud...showing he was scared in an unusual way.

Elias lowered himself to the chair and  sat cross-legged. Trying not to make any sudden moves.

“I wasn’t going to hurt you,” he said. “I just… couldn’t stop looking at you.”

“I-I thought you were angry with me, sir.”

“Stop saying sir! Why do you always end every sentence with sir? "

Jace looked confused. “But I don’t know what else to call you...”

“Elias,” he said gently. “My name is Elias.”

"I can't call Alpha by his name. I am but a lowly servant." Jace said quietly.

The candle flickered while Jace’s hands stayed clutched at the blanket. His face was flushed and his breathing was  inconsistent.

“Why were you so close...sir?” he whispered. “Were you going to… do something.............sir?”

Elias let out a long breath even though hearing the word 'sir' from Jace was annoying him deep inside. “I wanted to. But I didn’t. I won’t.”

“You… wanted to?” Jace’s voice cracked like glass.

Elias’s throat tightened but he at least felt relied that Jace didn't say sir to the last sentence.

"Sir...." Jace added.

Elias could feel his blood pressure coming up but he held himself and  nodded in response. “You make me feel things I haven’t felt before. I don’t know what to do with that.”

“I’m not gay...sir...I'm not attracted to men...I don't find men attractive.,” Jace said quickly.

“Okay...that was way too straight forward.” Elias stood, two hands on his hips, frustrated at what Jace just said.

"Sorry sir"

"Stop Calling Me SIR!"

Jace kept quiet and didn't respond.

"The other day, you said I was attractive." Elias pointed out, trying not to look more frustrated.

"Sir, that was....it was...I just admired and appreciated your appearance...cause we hardly find anyone with your looks...nothing more sir." Jace adjusted himself on the bed, still covered and protecting himself for his own dear sexual orientation.

"I see! This my God Damn attractive appearance that can't even be attractive enough to pull in the one I want!" Elias murmured, kicking the bottom part of the wall repeatedly. "Oh and one thing...if you call me sir one more time, I'll kiss you."

He said it with a smirk. Jace panicked upon hearing it. His pulse rate increasing so fast, Elias could hear how fast his heart started beating.

"Don't know if that's a good sign." He murmured to himself.

“I don’t want to be touched that way.” Jace finally spoke.

Elias noticed what Jace had done. He didn't say sir. He corrected himself immediately. “I didn’t.” He responded.

“But you almost did.”

“…Yes.”

There was silence again. Jace wanted to desperately crawl out of the room but he couldn't move. Suddenly, the door creaked open and Gavin stepped in.

He took one look at Jace’s wide eyes and Elias’s clenched fists.

He raised an eyebrow. “Should I come back later?”

“Stay,” Elias said.

"I came to apologize to you for what happened earlier." Gavin said, quietly.

"It's fine. I know you had no bad intention. I was just angry at that time." Elias responded.

Jace pulled the blanket tighter. “ Elias, please don’t let anyone else in here, to avoid rumors...please!”

“He’s my second,” Elias said. “He won’t do anything like that. He’s only here to help.”

Gavin crossed his arms, shocked by Jace calling Elias by his first name already. He put one and two together then said to Elias, “Looks like you were the one touching.”

“Gavin,” Elias warned.

“Right, right. None of my business. Except you almost broke a man in half today, and now you’re whispering by candlelight to the one who makes you go rabid.” He glanced at Jace. “You alright, kid?”

Jace didn’t answer. He just stared at Elias, his voice shaking.

“Why are you doing this to me?”

Elias didn’t understand. “Doing what?”

“You make me feel like I can breathe and choke at the same time."

Gavin stepped back toward the door. “Okay. I’ve heard enough poetic tension for one night.”

Then he left the room. Gavin knew this was forbidden in their world but he watched Elias for a long time, and he knew this was the first time Elias reacted to anyone like that. Gavin took a deep breath in front of the door,  then went to his room, not far from the Alpha's room.

Elias came closer and leaned forward, but slower this time, a little more careful.

“You smell like home, Little Wolf” he whispered.

“I’m not.”

“You feel like peace.”

“I don’t.”

“Then why can’t I stop needing you?”

Jace didn’t have an answer. He was shaking and still Elias could hear and  feel it in every heartbeat. He reached out again. His fingers brushed Jace’s,

but Jace flinched hard, knocking over the candle and the flame went out.

Darkness swallowed them both. Elias stood but Jace couldn’t see him anymore. But he felt the space between them grow again.

“You don’t want me to touch you,” Elias said. “Fine.”

He walked to the door, angry. Jace couldn't breath.

“But don’t ever lie to me again about what you feel.”

And then he slammed the door and left .

Leaving Jace letting out the air he had held in.

And Elias outside, jaw clenched, heart breaking. Was he misinterpreting how he felt? How his wolf felt within him?

Elias smirked. "He said he is straight, but that wont last for long. My Little Wolf..." Elias whispered, he wasn't going to give up, he was going to make Jace fall for him.

Suddenly, Elias felt a presence, he turned towards that direction, "I know you are there, come out.

‎"I… I… I’m already marked," Jace blurted out, his voice cracking under the weight of fear and guilt. The words just came out of his mouth, his chest heaving as if just saying them had stolen all the air from his Introduction to Lyra – Show her home life. Parents dismiss her, cousin Elara mocks her, she’s excluded from family gatherings. Establish her as the “useless omega.”‎‎Elias froze, his hands still pressed against Jace’s sides, the warmth of his grip a cage both comforting and terrifying. His blind eyes narrowed, head tilting as though the silence itself carried sound. "What? Are you being serious right now? You're doing this again?"‎‎Jace swallowed hard, throat bobbing, his eyes darting away from Elias’s face to the dirt beneath their feet. "We can't be together...I'm sorry." The confession tumbled out uneven, stumbling and fragile, like a lie trying to dress itself as truth. "I told you before...she claimed me."‎‎The words tasted like ash in his mouth, and Elias heard it

‎“What’s wrong?” Jace asked softly, his voice brushing close against Elias’s ear.‎‎Elias’s arms tightened suddenly around him, crushing him close. “Am I…” his voice faltered, shaking in a way Jace had never heard from him before, “am I a mistake of an Alpha because I was born blind?”‎‎Jace froze at the raw tremor in the question. Elias’s fingers dug into his shirt as though holding on to the only thing keeping him steady.‎‎“I don’t want power. I don’t care about ruling over anyone. All I want…” Elias’s breath caught and then broke against Jace’s throat, “…all I want is love. I want to be seen, Jace. I want to be accepted without someone whispering behind me that I am broken. But maybe I am... Maybe I was never meant to lead or to be wanted.”‎‎“Sir....uhm...I mean...jjElias…” Jace’s chest tightened painfully. He turned slightly, enough to see the Alpha’s face, his sightless eyes glassy, his jaw trembling with the effort of keeping his composure. “Don’t say that. Don’t ever thin

‎‎"Jace!" The butler’s loud voice cut through the air, making every head in the room turn.‎‎The heavy door swung open without a knock. The old man stepped in with quick, firm steps, his grip still tight on the spare key before slipping it into his pocket. His jaw was set, his eyes hard as they swept over the gathered women and then fixed on Jace.‎‎"Enough," he said, his voice low but carrying a hint of annoyance. The women moved back slightly, their playful expressions dimming. "This is not why Madam brought you here."‎‎"Butler..." Madam began, but her smirk wavered. "How dare you barge into my tea party with the Luna candidates."‎‎He did not even glance at her. "On your feet, boy." He pulled his clothes over him. Jace quickly dressed himself behind him with tears on his face and shaky hands.‎‎"Are you done?" The butler looked back to confirm. Jace nodded. "Let's go!"‎‎Jace’s legs moved before he thought. His chest felt tight, his face warm. The moment he reached the butl

"Ma'am… is Young Master Elias not..."‎‎"I said, close them." Her gaze cut at Jace like a blade. "Don't make me repeat myself."‎‎The heavy oak doors swung shut with a deep thud that seemed to seal the room in a different kind of air that made Jace's heart beat faster. ‎‎"Well…" the Eastern Luna candidate was the first to rise from her seat. Her gown shimmered in pale gold as she glided closer. "Up close, you’re even prettier than I expected...wearing this..." Her eyes looked like she could eat him as a snack.‎‎"Prettier? No," the Northern daughter corrected, eyes roaming him from hair to boots. "He’s… alluring... Look at those grey lashes, the silky looking hair and those lips." She was the top candidate from our pack for Elias but right now, she was feasting on Jace with her eyes.‎‎Jace steppe

I’ve seen him in worse situations...since he was young."‎‎"Yes, but… he’s, um… unclothed."‎‎Her brows lifted.‎‎"With a fever," the butler added quickly. Elias and Jace both turned in slow, synchronized horror. ‎ ‎There, at the bathroom door, stood the butler with a tray in hand, and his expression was wide-eyed and frozen. His gaze landed on Elias in the bath, naked, soaked, flushed… and Jace on top of him, lip-swollen, breathless, and water clinging to his skin. Then Elias holding tight to Jace's arched back. ‎ ‎"OH MY!" the butler gasped, his monocle nearly falling from his eye. ‎ ‎Jace yelped and tried to leap off Elias, slipping again and nearly taking them both underwater. ‎ ‎Elias caught him with a grunt.
