JAMES
The wind whirls around us as Lilith screams on the ground, but the wind is not the only thing that is spinning. Every memory in my head feels like it is being changed all at once. I try my best to shield Lyra from the debris that is flying through the air, but it feel like my head is splitting in two. Between the wind, Lilith screaming, and what is happening in my mind I feel like I am on the verge of insanity.

LYRAThe cold gel hits my abdomen, and it makes me jump a little. Andrew and James are beside me grinning from ear to ear. They look like little kids on Christmas morning. My overly round belly is covered in flour because it keeps getting in the way. Every time I turn around I am knocking something over with my baby bump. LYRASixteen Years Later I watch as my daughter stares out of the window. The thick layer of snow that coats the ground reminds me of the night she was born. There was so much snow that even Andrew’s Jeep could not make it through the snow. I laugh a little at the irony of it all. Here I am largely pregnant, with swollen ankles, and my feet propped up on a pillow. It is the exact thing that I refused to do a little more than sixteen years ago.
