He stares at me with those cobalt blue eyes. He knew I wasn’t backing down on this. I needed to speak to Daphne, I needed her to understand that it was okay to be angry. That it wasn’t anyone’s fault other than Knox’s and Colt had made sure that he wouldn’t be any more trouble.

“You’re not going to let this go until I agree, are you?” He mutters, scratching his chin stubble.

“No.” I shake my head at him. “I made that mistake before. But now, she needs me more than ever. Colt, you know me. I could have just ran off after her, but I didn’t. I needed time to think. I needed time to understand what she is feeling. She needs a friend. She needs her sister.”

“I can go.” He insists.

“If she really is capable of using her magic without me being in danger. You are the last person she wants to see.”

“At least I can protect myself.” He glances down at my stomach

“We don’t know yet and it’s too early for me to test! So let me go to her!”

He rolls his eyes at me. “One condition.”

“Anything.”
