Alpha Colt’s POV

I should have seen it earlier. I should have figured it out. But I had let my thoughts about Lilah cloud my mind. I hadn’t been able to see what was right in front of me.

“Do you know them?” She asks me. Her hand rubbed at the mark on her neck. The mark was irritating her, a sign that her heat was going to kick in at any moment.

“If I knew them, I would be putting them down right now.” She starts scratching at the mark. “Leave it alone, Lilah.”

“It’s so god damn itchy.” She leaves it alone for all of a second before scratching again.

“I assume your mother didn’t tell you about that either?” I point at it and she scowls at me.

“Whatever it’s doing to me, I don’t care. Why would they take me and do this to me?” With her free hand, she points to her chest.

“Payback. They want to see you suffer. They want to make me suffer. Now leave the mark alone!”

“Stop changing the subject. I can’t help that it’s so fucking itchy.” She marches across to the window and throws it open.
