Chapter Forty-Two

Resignation.

I could feel the hell fire growing in the pit of my stomach before I even opened my eyes. The anger of my wolf, my wolf who had chosen to protect me against certain memories and memories that had been triggered by Doctor Wessex’s testing, was insufferable. My eyes open to a white sterile ceiling and beeping machines surrounding me. The hospital room was much larger than the base camp medical rooms, these lycans clearly had wealth and riches.

Axel is asleep in the visitors chair, he must have been tired, those chairs look extremely uncomfortable. I rip the tubes out of my arm, squirting blood all over the bed sheets. I look at my body, I am clothed and spot my shoes by the door. Within seconds I have my shoes on and am walking out of the hospital room door. I remain quiet to not wake up Axel. I don’t need him informing Doctor Wessex, Lance or Felicity of my self-discharge just yet.
