CHAPTER 2

HANNI POV

“What! You can’t be serious!”

 Wanni’s shriek filled the hall, startling everyone for we had been incapacitated with shock and disbelief. “Lucas darling……I think you made a mistake, you said Hanni instead of Wanni, my love.”

“No Wanni, I want your sister Hanni, to be my Luna” Lucas said unfazed with the ruckus he had created.

“But….but….” Wanni spluttered, dismay clearly etched on her face, making her features disoriented as she struggled to find the words obviously stuck in her throat.

“I am your girlfriend Lucas! We have been together for five years! You can’t act like this.”

“I am sorry Wanni, I have been in love with your sister all this while and it is Alpha Lucas to you” he said coldly, “ I choose Hanni as my Luna, accept it and stop making a mockery of your self.”

“Arrrrghhh……!” Wanni screamed hysterically, “ you can’t do this to me Lucas! I am your mate.”

“If you are my mate, I would have known since we were eighteen, so stop this drama Wanni” he spat back at her.

I have never seen Lucas this cold to anyone before - let alone at Wanni. He always exhumed grace and composure with the aura of royalty as the Alpha’s son. But this Lucas is different, very unrecognizable and not shaken in the slightest at the turn of event.

“Where is she? Where is that slut?” Wanni shouted, already at her breaking point.

All eyes turned towards me as I slipped deeper further into the shadows, not wanting to be part of this madness.

“YOU WICKED HUMAN SLUT!” Wanni snarled, running towards me with her hands outstretched, aiming for my throat.

“Wanni stop it! You are embarrassing yourself” Lucas thundered, his voice vibrating the hall, showing his first emotion since his declaration - Anger.

The minister quickly stepped in with his arms outstretched in opposite directions.

“Now…..now, please everyone should calm down” the murmur died down immediately, “today started in a joyous note and it should end in one” he said looking at Lucas, who nodded. “Where is Hanni?”

“I am here” I said in a small voice.

“Please come to the front, let us all see you.”

At that moment, I wished the ground can swallow me whole. I gulped as I stood up shakily, not minding the fireworks anymore as I wobbled to the front of the hall, to where the minister was standing, avoiding Wanni’s gaze as she shot daggers at me.

I could see Josh and Micheal, both looking equally shocked and terrified as I am. Unable to say or do anything, Josh gave me a sad smile as I stepped forward to the minister, looking like a chicken drenched in the rain.

“You……..!” Wanni shrieked, but she was interrupted by the minister after giving her a warning glance.

“Hanni Severus, you have been choosen as Luna of the high mountains pack, do you accept?”

“What!” I spluttered, not looking at Lucas, “Ofcourse not!”

How can he do this to me?

I know I was doomed the minute Lucas proclaimed me as his Luna.

How can he do this? This is very selfish of him or is he on to something? Is this a game? Maybe Wanni and him wants a good laugh. Is this a joke? I can’t seem to roll my head around it. This is not fair! I didn’t ask to be his Luna, he is Wanni’s boyfriend for stars sake!

I asked myself these questions over and over again, pacing in my room, racking my brain, searching for an answer, but I was only greeted with silence.

“Hanni, I know you are in there” Josh said in a worried tone behind my door, for I had locked myself indoors and refused to come out for two days.

I can still hear the minister asking me, “Hanni Severus, you have been chosen as Luna of the high mountains pack, do you accept?”

I retched, my stomach threatening to spill its contents as I quickly rushed to the restroom…..but it was just nausea.

“Hanni please open the door, you haven’t eaten or drank anything since the ceremony.”

“Josh please…..I wish to be left alone” I said weakly, for I had no strength left in me, but he kept pounding on my door relentlessly, calling my name.

That’s it! I have had enough! But as I moved to stand up, I was stopped abruptly on my tracks when I heard a voice…..a deeper one.

Lucas?

“What in the flipping hell is he doing here?” I snarled.

I opened the door to see him looking impeccable as always, with his fist up in the air like he was about to knock.

“Hello Hanni” he said with a smile playing on his lips, “I was informed that you are still in your self imposed house arrest.”

“I……” I spluttered, weak in the knees, I didn’t know how refer him now he is Alpha. Before it was just Lucas, but now……I stared nervously at the two officials behind him, both looking at me with narrowed eyes like I am vermin.

I felt like a prey among predators and my eyes sought Josh’s pleading for help, but he just bowed helplessly for he was only an omega.

“Hanni please can you let me in?” He said calmly, “Josh and my officials will wait outside. I want to have a quick word with you.”

Without a word, I opened the door wider to accommodate his big frame as he strolled into my room.

“What are you doing here?” I croaked, “where is Wanni?”

Lucas obviously ignoring my questions, sat on my bed, with his legs up on my sofa, making himself feel at home.

“I asked you a question Alpha” I said with a sting in my voice, “What are you doing here?”

“Tsk tsk….careful there little one, I’m here to bring you to the palace, I’m sure you’ve had enough time to yourself. So now it’s time to begin your Luna duties sweetheart.”
