CHAPTER 3

WANNI POV

He can’t be serious!

I stared in disbelief as he looked at me, relaxed.

“I can not be your Luna.”

“You do not have a choice here sweetheart” he replied smugly, with his left hand caressing his hair.

Lucas is your ideal Alpha. He is tall, dark haired, slim with broad shoulders and very handsome. But never have I spared him any thought because he was in a relationship with my sister.

“I do not want to be your Luna, Alpha Lucas. It’s not right, you can’t do this to Wanni, she will be hurt” I was so close to tears…..but he just stared at me.

“Ok.”

“Ok?” I asked hopefully. Finally, this madness can end!

“Ok. Let’s just continue this conversation in the palace” he said standing up.

“Wh….what? No!”

“Hanni, don’t try to fight this or you will be forcefully escorted by my officials” he replied with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

I knew I had to think fast. I can’t openly refuse him again, I also do not want to go to the palace with him. Even though he had said ‘ok’, I knew it was a lie. This Lucas has changed, he can’t be trusted.

Now it’s my turn. “Ok.”

“Good! Shall we?” he said pointing at the door.

“Yes, but go ahead” I said, putting on a fake smile “I will be right behind you. I need to check on my patients at the clinic before I can move. Mrs Potter needs to take her evening pills before going to bed.”

What was I thinking? What am I doing?

I had to bite my lower lip to mask the confusion on my face, but surprisingly, he bought it.

“Ok, I will be waiting in the palace. A car will come pick you up at ten” he replied, making his way to the door. “And Hanni…” he turned back, his hand on the door knob, “ I have dreamt of this day for a long time, I have always wanted you…..to feel your lips….to hold you….to touch you and caress your soft golden hair. You will be my wife, my Luna and the mother of my future pups. Do what you have to do, you have one hour.” He turned and left with his officials closely at his heels.

Convinced I was alone, I let out a sob, clutching my stomach. I do not know what I should do. I can’t stay neither can I go, either way, I’m fucked!

“Hanni?”

“Josh? Oh Josh!” I said running into his arms desperately needing a hug.

“Hanni, it’s going to be ok” he said patting my shoulders for I was a crying wreck.

“You know this won’t end well for me Josh” I said, in between sobs “Wanni will kill me in my sleep or poison me.”

I immediately opened my eyes in shock.

“Where is my sister? I haven’t seen her since the coronation, everywhere is oddly quiet, which is very strange.”

“After you ran from the hall, Wanni was vile to the Alpha in front of the congregation, she slapped and called him names, so she had to be punished” he replied, looking at me with sad eyes.

“What do you mean by punished?” I asked dreading the reply.

“She was forcefully escorted by the guards to the dungeon, to cool down and she has been there ever since.”

The dungeon is an under ground prison, built for outlaws and rouges. Wanni might be uncouth, but she shouldn’t be there, she is my sister after all and I understand her pain. But that won’t stop her from murdering me in my sleep. Is there anything I can do? I need to find a way out of this mess immediately before Wanni gets out, because it will be on sight.

Or am I to be blamed for all this?

“Oh my goodness! This is all my fault” I cried uncontrollably, “this is all my fault…..maybe she was right…maybe I seduced Lucas. I must have done or said something, for him to act this way.”

“Stop it Hanni! You know that’s not true. You have never been around the Alpha, until now and it’s not your person to wear revealing clothes either.”

I knew Josh was being a friend, but I shook my head in disbelief, unable to accept it.

“What am I going to do Josh? I have only an hour to decide my fate.”

“Hanni” Josh said, leading me to my bed, “you know how your sister is, she will kill you. Lucas is being unreasonable, you can’t die for him. So why don’t you escape from the pack? It’s better than you staying here, always watching your back.”

I knew what Josh had suggested was hard. I haven’t been out of the pack since I was born. Mama and Papa never allowed me to travel with them, so I have no knowledge of the outside world, but this was my only choice. I agreed without hesitation and said my goodbyes to Mr Snape and Mrs Potter.

With Josh’s help, I sneaked through the back gates leading to the woods and ran with every ounce of strength left in me, desperately putting a lot of distance between the high mountains pack, Lucas, Wanni and I.

Oh I will miss Josh so much. I could still see his face as we said our goodbyes.

“Hanni” he had said, with tears streaming down his face, “please be careful, keep your head down, hopefully we will meet again.”

I was so worried about him, for Lucas will know he had helped me escape.

“Don’t worry Hanni, I just want you safe. I will take whatever punishment the Alpha gives me happily, knowing you are safe.”

I sobbed as I ran as fast my legs an carry me. I hid behind the trees whenever I sensed danger, but I never stopped running for days until I saw a brick wall hovering high like a fortress. It had a small opening - tiny, but big enough for me to sneak in.

I was immediately mesmerized by the high buildings and architecture, for this is nothing like home. I gulped nervously, feeling small, I looked around for the nearest close, desperately trying to avoid the open street which was crowded with people, beautifully clad, trading and going on their normal day.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of drums - big drums playing in a distance, making everyone halt in their activities and quickly rushed to its direction. I had no choice but to follow, curious of what’s going to happen next.

As I got closer to the drums sounds, I found myself standing in an arena big enough to fit my whole pack and it’s gardens. I gulped nervously as I saw silver blades and chains that are very deadly to wolves hanging on the walls.

What is this place? I thought to myself.

Then I heard it!

I swear I did. A growl within me, saying the word “mate.”
