CHAPTER 4

ALFRED POV

“Mate”

I can sense her, faintly… but she is here.

Geo purred excitedly as I changed into my fighting gear.

“Mate…mate…” his insistent growls distracting me as I buckle up my belt, missing a hole, I hissed angrily at him.

“Stop it Geo! I need to concentrate” and that only infuriates him, making him more excited and his growls became louder, making my head bang with pain.

“Ouch! Geo please….” I said massaging my head.

His character is understandable, for he has never been mated with anyone before, not once. Through I have had my fair share of ladies, she wolfs from different clans, color, height and shape….including the one lying naked on my bed currently, patiently waiting for the tournament to end so she can envelope me in her sweetness….I smirked at the thought, but Geo…he doesn’t seem to have any interest in any of the she wolves I have been with, leaving me to take them only with my human strength…which I have no problem doing.

But now, I can sense her, my mate and she smelt heavenly, I sniffed the air, drinking the scent in.

I wonder what she looks like? Is she tall? Slender? No doubt beautiful…I chuckled. I feel like I am unwrapping a present, excitedly, eager to see what’s inside.

I was brought back to reality by my beta, Andre, as he strolled in holding my spear.

“It’s time, Alpha. Everyone is seated already and your opponents are prepared.”

“Opponents? More than one?” I asked excitedly.

“Yes Alpha. Remember you said last night that you would love to fight more than one opponent, a single opponent kills the fun of the tournament” he replied smugly, adjusting his glasses.

“Yes yes, I remember. Where did you get the other rogue from?” I asked, testing my spear.

“He is a spy, Alpha. Our men caught him last week trying to sneak information through a messenger, the messenger has also been apprehended. They have been in the dungeons ever since.”

“Hmm” I snorted “ I hope he can fight? I won’t want him running in the opposite direction. I want a warrior, not a spy, Andre.”

I was beginning to loose it and my beta noticing it, quickly said;

“He is a warrior Alfred, a hunter as a matter of fact, one of the best in his pack, that’s why he was sent here to be a spy, because he was the bravest”

And that calmed me down instantly. I picked up my spear and my silver chain and said;

“Let’s go beta, we have a tournament to win.”

The stadium greeted me with cheers and howls as my pack members greeted me excitedly but all I could think of….was the owner of the scent that’s making Geo excited, for he couldn’t wait for the tournament to begin - and end, so he could go find his mate.

“Easy boy”

“Sorry?” Andre asked surprised, but I just shook my head.

The tournament only lasted a few minutes, because Geo was restless, torn my opponents into shreds,  I’m not sure they will make it the night. I drank in the scent of blood trying to calm my restless wolf, but all to no avail.

“Andre, send word to my chambers this instant, I want that girl out before I arrive and I am on my way” I said, knowing fully well Geo will attack her on sight for he is unstable at the moment.

“Ok Alpha. Is everything ok?” He asked.

“Yes, I just need a walk to clear my head.”

I quickly head to my chambers, to see everywhere clean, tidy and the scent of my love making with the she wolf, cleared. I quickly took my shower, worn my clothes and I was about to bolt out the door when I heard a sound.

I turned back to see Marcus and Andre. Both siting on my couch with a smile on their faces.

“Here here, what do we have here?” Marcus snickered, looking at me with a lopsided grin on his face.

“Why do you look like a deer caught in headlights?” Andre asked calmly.

“Fuck!” I cursed under my breath. “What are you two doing in my chambers at this hour?” I asked, trying to stop Geo from shifting and bolting out of the door to find his mate for he can still smell her….faintly.

But Marcus and Andre just folded up, laughing, both clutching their sides as their ribs worked overtime trying to contain their hiccups.

“Are you both done?” I asked, my face blank.

Marcus and Andre have been my friends since childhood, their fathers had assisted my father in his royal duties as Beta and head warrior, thereby placing us in each other’s company most of the time, therefore strengthening our bond in the process. Andre, my beta is very calm and collected, unlike my other friend, Marcus, who is very jovial and enjoys a good laugh, making him the clown in the trio. He already found his mate in a beautiful young she wolf called Simeon.

Lucky him!

“I need to go” I said desperately trying to keep myself from running.

“To your walk?” Andre asked.

I nodded and replied, “I think guys, I may have found her, my mate.”

“Really?” Marcus asked, his eyes wide. “What are we waiting for? Let’s go!”

I looked at him hesitantly, I wanted to go find her alone, but knowing Marcus, he won’t budge and I can’t afford to waste anymore time.

I quickly let Geo out and immediately, he took a long sniff, trailing her scent. We ran passed the arena, passed the market square, with her scent getting stronger each minute, till we stopped at the fountain behind the pack’s school, at the end of the town and there and then;

I saw her…..fast asleep under the moonlight with her golden hair cascading her face, looking so eerie and beautiful….

Geo let out a loud howl, making her startled and frantic, till her eyes met mine.

Locked in her eyes, stuck on her gaze, I moved cautiously, approaching her slowly with my hands raised high, showing her no threat. I had changed back to my human form in order to stop Geo from pouncing on her with raw passion, for he has been starved.

“Calm boy, let’s not startle her any further, she looks terrified” I said inwardly.

She stood up looked over my shoulders, her eyes wide, looking scared. I looked back also to see Andre and Marcus also in their human form, approaching closely behind.

“Stay back” I hissed at them, “I will go ahead alone, I don’t want her to feel cornered” and they nodded, halting in their tracks.

I looked back at her to see her more relaxed, with a soften expression. I took it as my cue to approach her with my hand outstretched in a polite manner, which she took, looking into my eyes with an expression etched unmistakable on her face.

Shock? Surprise?

I can’t say.

“I am Alfred Longhord, Alpha of the East dwellers pack and these are Marcus and Andre, my beta and friend” I pointed at them and they smiled.

But she didn’t say a word, she just stared at me with her mouth slightly open, giving her a dreamy look.

“Oh these lips….these full lips” I said inwardly as Geo purred.

“Lady, please what’s your name?” I asked, while I watched with satisfaction as she blinked and shook her head quickly as if calling herself back to consciousness, creating a sight to behold as her golden blonde hair swirled around like flame.

“My …..my name is Hanni” she muttered with her head bowed.

“Hello Hanni” I said, bringing out my charm, “ a beautiful girl like you shouldn’t be lying out here, at this hour, be my guest tonight, you can be assured of your safety.”

She smiled and shook her head.

“Ok” I said, my patience thin “ Let me make this clear here. You and I are mates…it’s cold….I’m tired from fighting… need to rest…you are coming with me!”

“No.”
