I stiffened at his words, unable to process what he had just said, pulling back from the hug, I peer into his face for the answers.

“What do you mean by that?”

He flashed a pained smile, “He could not bully me around much longer when puberty came knocking, I was taller, stronger even, my voice had gotten deeper, and I was always angry, he took the brunt of it and sent me away to a boarding school, I ran away before we even got to England.” he chuckles.

He was chuckling but I saw the raw pain in his eyes, they flashed, this was also not a good time for him.

“Fell into the wrong crowd, I did not know they were the wrong crowd, I knew everybody else was better than my father. We got caught by the cops after a month or two, and was returned to my father. It was hell all over again, but this time worse, he had cried tears to the officers, thanking them for returning his son, the second we were alone he told me I should have died.”
