Laurie couldn't help the surprised look on her face. Edmund's question was too coincidental. How could they know about Mason? How did they know about him kidnapping a princess before them? Laurie watched Edmund's face as he continued. Something didn't feel right, and she was glad she wasn't the only one who felt that way. Micah smiled at Edmund's accusation.

"Is this confirmed or just a speculation, Commander," Micah asked smoothly. "I would hate to believe you would give chase to such a rumor without evidence."

Edmund walked around the room, looking at nothing with his hands clasped behind his back. Archie stayed in place, his eyes shifting between everyone in the room, lingering on Laurie sometimes.

"Of course not," Edmund laughed. "Just wanted to see how you reacted to the information. Though, there were reports that Princess Aidy was last seen at the Century War celebration near one of your towns. Ornxville."

"Ornxville is at least a day's ride away from here, Commander,

  • Fearless Human Mate   Getting Ready

Xenia threw another glass of water at the door as the guard retreated. She tried escaping again after Mason tried his version of flirting with her. She got him close enough to knee him straight into the balls and bolted out the door into the arms of two guards. She hated how fast they were and struggled as they brought her back into the room to an angry Mason. She thought this was it. Mason was going to get rid of her for sure this time. Really, how much assault could he take from her? Surprisingly, he laughed before leaving the room. That part pissed her off. The longer she stayed here, near him, made her resolve to leave weaker. A part of her wanted him closer, his nearness, his touch. It was driving her insane. Her only hope was to remind herself why she was brought here and what she had been through. She sat by the window, glaring at the full moon with its tint of blue hanging in the sky. It was one of the most prominent moon sightings she'd ever seen. She could make out every

The guard quickly closed and covered his eyes. "Doesn't matter if I don't see anything," the guard said with a smile. "You might be right, but what he does matters, especially if he finds us like this." Xenia reached out and placed her hand on the guard's shoulder, only for him to stumble back towards the door. "You know, it's better if I watch from out here anyway. It's not like you can go anywhere." He slammed the door shut as Xenia dressed before turning towards the girls. A minute passed before they all started laughing. Given her dire situation, Xenia felt good just laughing with anyone. "Did you see his face," Celia laughed. "Looks like someone understands how much power she really has," Lacey said. "And look at that body," Frieda said. "I can see why Mason's been all hot and bothered lately. Oh, the men I would have under my control with a body like that?" Frieda smiled to herself. "My own little harem." Lacey threw a brush in Frieda's direction. "You need to be locked

  • Fearless Human Mate   Blue Moon Anxiety

Micah stood in the middle of what was left of Lottie's and Xenia's cabin. Her scent was the strongest here, surrounding him with warm vanilla and lavender. His body swayed as if it was pulling him in many directions. He moved through the crumbled wall and picked up a shirt belonging to his mate. Much to Roman's pleasure, Micah inhaled Xenia's scent, committing it to memory. The effects of it moving through his body. He exhaled, and Roman growled through him. He pushed to come out, but Micah held him down. Roman wanted to find her and mark her to make her his. Micah couldn't agree more. "In due time, friend," Micah promised. Micah adjusted his eyes to the darkness as the Blue Moon was the only light source. He moved through the small hall to where his brother's scent was the strongest. He stopped where there was a huge spot on the floor and picked up the dagger on the floor. He tried envisioning the fight that happened here. His brother fought the knight and decommissioned near whe

Delilah slowly opened her eyes and groaned from the pain. She saw the bars of the dungeon and tried remembering what had happened to get her into this situation. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be the first time she found herself on the wrong side of a cell. Most of the time, she had too much pixie dust and caused a ruckus or was improperly dressed somewhere. The soft glow from the torches meagerly illuminated the area enough for her to see cots lining the back wall, making Delilah wonder why she was on the floor. The moment she sat up, she felt a pain across her forehead. She gingerly touched the spot that hurt the most and could feel a knot forming. She felt around to make sure that there weren't any other injuries. "Don't touch it," a soft voice said, making her jump and look for the source. "It'll only bleed more." "Who's… who's there," Delilah asked, trying to hide the nervousness in her voice. Delilah peered into the darkness, waiting for someone to respond. Her vision was still

Delilah stared at Princess Clara, whose words didn't fully register with her. "That can't be true," Delilah said more to herself. "They...they will find us, surely." Even though she didn't believe her own words, she had to. Xenia was still out there, and she refused to die before finding her. "Look, lady, you can believe all you want," Princess Clara grunted, "but if they haven't found us by now, there's no hope they ever will." Princess Aidy cried even louder, and Princess Clara growled. "She's been like this for days. I think I prefer death to this...incessant crying." "Oh, honey. Shh," Delilah said as Princess Aidy cried into Delilah's shirt. Delilah looked around the cell. She didn't want to think about her daughter being stuck in this place. Alone and scared, having no one to embrace her. Or even worse, thinking no one would come for her. She needed to find a way out of here. Tears formed around her own eyes as she thought about Xenia. "Please, don't start crying, too,"

  • Fearless Human Mate   Say the Damn Words

The guards led Xenia through the packhouse to what looked like the bottom floor. They picked up lanterns before opening a set of heavy-looking doors and ushered Xenia through. A small crowd of werewolves or maybe humans, Xenia couldn't tell, parted as she walked by. They held torches, lanterns, and other light fixtures to help light the way down the tunnel. On their foreheads was a symbol, more like a crescent moon mark. She wondered if this was part of the ritual. They were calling out her name, well, more like calling her Luna. The faces in the crowd were filled with intrigue, as if she was royalty to them. Some even reached out to touch her. Their fingertips brushed her skin while the guards kept the eager ones away. A new kind of fear filled Xenia, but she kept her back straight and looked straight ahead. They will not get to me, Xenia reminded herself. You know what you have to do. Xenia and the guards made it to the middle of the room. The light from the Blue Moon reflected b

Mason staggered back from her words. A sense of victory washed over Xenia as Mason fell to one knee with one hand on his chest. He looked up at her with anger in his eyes. "Xenia," Mason growled. "I told you," Xenia said triumphantly. "I will never accept you." Mutters and gasps surrounded them. Xenia couldn't help but look around. She caught the girls' faces, but one face stood out the most. Jane. Jane was here, wearing the same crescent mark and bruises on her face. She wasn't looking at Xenia at first but something behind Xenia. Before Xenia could follow her gaze, Jane looked at her. There were tears in her eyes, and even though she was far away, Xenia could see her mouth, 'I'm sorry.' Sorry about what, Xenia wondered. I won. I got what I wanted. Then suddenly, Mason started to laugh. Xenia turned to him and watched him stand to his feet like nothing happened. It was Xenia's turn to stagger back. "How...how could you..." Before she could finish her sentence, Maso

"Xenia!" Mason's voice pulled Xenia's focus as she stared at him. "Finish it." "I give to you…" She continued with a shaky breath. "Mason Dalton." "Mason Dalton, my heart, my body, and…" Xenia's mouth felt dry as her gaze slowly moved back to her mother. This was it. She was going to bind herself to a werewolf, and she had to for her mother's life. She would not be the death of her mother. Not if she could prevent it. "And," Mason growled impatiently. Xenia brought her focus back to him. "...and my soul. I am yours." The sound of howls surrounded them and pierced the night sky as the werewolves and humans alike rejoiced in saying the words. Xenia didn't pay them any mind as Mason stared at her. She wondered if this was it. She wanted to get to her mother, but Mason tightened his grip as she tried to move away. "Now, the best part," he smiled. He dipped his head into the crook of her neck, running his nose up and down the spot that would bear his mark. Her heartbeat pu

Across the battlefield, Lacey caught sight of Celia blasting away two warriors before trying to join Lillian.“Celia!” Lacey shouted, grabbing her arm and yanking her back.Celia whirled on her. “What are you doing? Let go of me!”“I should be asking you the same damn thing,” Lacey snapped. “You’re still fighting for her? After everything she’s done?”Celia’s jaw clenched. “You wouldn’t understand.”“She tortured us. She tortured you. She helped turn Jed into a monster! And you still defend her?”“She loves me,” Celia hissed, voice trembling with fury. “You don’t know what it’s like–to be chosen. To be seen. You wouldn’t understand because you don’t have a mate. You’ve never had one.”Lacey flinched–but only for a moment. “You’re right,” she said coldly. “I don’t have a mate. But at least I’m not weak enough to sell my soul for one.”Celia’s magic surged at those words. “Say that again.”Lacey’s eyes gleamed gold. “You heard me.”With a furious scream, Celia raised her hands, greenish

Melania took on Nova, Roman, and Micah while Mason set his sights on Xenia. With a powerful swipe Melania threw Roman towards Nova, both crashing out of the way as she clashed with Micah.“I never thought in a million years you would want to hurt me like this,” Melania grimaced. “I am your mate, Micah. Me. Not that fragile little human!”Micah’s grip tightened on her wrists, and for a moment, their faces were inches apart as he held her gaze. “You lost me the moment you took away the only family I had left,” he snapped. “You used my grief like a leash. You made yourself a monster.”Melania’s lips trembled, fury twisting her features. “No,” she whispered, shaking her head. “No, no–you still love me. I know you do. I can fix this. I can fix us.”“There’s no us anymore, Melania,” Micah said. “There will never be an us.”The words hit harder than any blow. Melania shrieked–an animal sound, furious and guttural–and her body lit up with a violent surge of dark magic. She slammed both hands

Xenia blinked, struggling to steady herself as the dream faded, ripped from her mind like torn silk. Her body ached. Every breath felt like she was inhaling smoke. She sat up slowly–and froze.Melania lay sprawled on the ground, her elegant dress torn, blood staining her lip. Her eyes fluttered open, dazed but furious.A sound to her left made Xenia twist around. Mason. Stumbling into the area, just as beaten. His shirt was ripped, and blood dripped from various parts of his body. He spotted Melania on the floor. His expression snapped.“No,” he whispered, then louder, “What did you do?”Xenia barely had time to get to her feet before he lunged at her.“You ruined everything!” Mason bellowed, slamming into her and knocking her back. “She gave you everything! And you spat on it!”Xenia hit the floor hard, the impact stealing the breath from her lungs. Dazed, she barely registered Mason’s shadow looming above her, his fist coming down. But it never landed.A hand caught it mid-swing wit

  • Fearless Human Mate   The Conflict

Xenia woke up alone. The brothers were nowhere to be seen, so she decided to get ready for another perfect day. She got dressed, fixing her appearance in the mirror. The moment she looked away, the reflection turned to Melania, who smiled before disappearing. Xenia stared at her reflection before leaving.“Good,” Xenia said to herself. “Today’s going to be perfect.”Downstairs the brothers were in the kitchen with Delilah. Micah was unusually focused, slicing and arranging with the precision of a man on a mission. Mason was just as focused, carefully packing fruits and cheeses, and crusty bread into woven baskets. Delilah flitted about the kitchen like a hummingbird, humming a lullaby Xenia swore she hadn’t heard since childhood. They walked to the sea, just the four of them. The cliffs were painted with wildflowers, the ocean stretched endlessly, calm and blue. Xenia leaned into the breeze and tried not to think too hard. But something was wrong. She felt it when she reached for the

Melania kept her magic flowing into Xenia, but she felt herself losing strength. Micah stood before them, his presence blazing with power.Melania didn’t flinch. “Keep him away,” she said to Mason. “She’s so close to accepting her new reality. If he interrupts now, she might have the strength to fight back. I need time.”“He won’t understand,” Mason said.“Then make him,” she snapped. “I know you can.”“I won’t say it again,” Micah said, interrupting their conversation. “Get out of my way Mason.”“I can’t let you,” Mason said, his voice shaking with fury. “You took her away from me once. I won’t let it happen again!”Mason snarled, aura flaring to full strength as he launched forward. Micah’s wolf, Roman, collided with Mason in mid-air, the impact sending a shockwave through the spirit realm. Mason crashed to the ground, rolling once before skidding to a stop.“Damn you, Roman,” he spat, rising. “Do you have to interfere. This is between brothers.” Roman stood between him and Mason,

Xenia stood frozen as Mason held her waist, his touch gentle. This was the kind of moment a girl might fantasize about–the reformed villain pledging himself at her feet. But something about it soured in her gut. The air shimmered, just slightly, like heat rising off pavement. Mason’s skin was warm, too warm, feverish. And his voice… it wasn’t Mason’s. Not really.“I’m nothing without you,” he whispered, face pressed to her abdomen. “You saved me, Xenia. Don’t you remember?”“Mason, I…” Her throat constricted. It was suddenly hard to speak. Hard to think. But she could hear her mother and Micah returning–footsteps, laughter, too far and too close all at once. The sounds blurred, like a warped vinyl record.“I believe you,” she said quickly, trying to get him up but he tightened his arms around her.“You know I can tell when you’re lying,” he said, eyes flicking up to hers. There was a flicker–just for a second–where his eyes changed, glitching like bad film. A blink later and they were

Blood and ash thickened the air as Alpha Micah and the group made their way through the packhouse and towards the ritual grounds. The howls of distant wolves still echoed, but for now, the area had settled into a tense, almost eerie silence. Laurie floated down from a treeline, black eyes turning back to her usual color, her expression grim. “More guards than we thought,” she whispered. “And that’s just the outer ring. Inside the ritual circle, we’ve the Three Sisters.”Micah’s jaw tightened. “The Three Sisters?”Laurie nodded. “They’re channeling the ritual. It’s working. Xenia’s… already changing.”“What do you mean changing?” Delilah asked, panic rising in her voice.Micah placed a firm but comforting hand on Delilah’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, Miss Delilah. It’s not over yet.” Then, turning back to Laurie, he asked, “Can we get past them?”Laurie nodded. “They’re powerful, but we can get rid of them if we destroy the effigy tethering them here.”A chilling scream cut through the nig

In the cozy kitchen of her family home, Xenia found herself caught in a comical, slightly awkward situation as she sat down to breakfast. Her mother sat across from her with her chin resting on her clasped fingers. Delilah’s eyes darted between the two brothers she forced Xenia to sit between.“So,” Delilah began, her eyes twinkling with mischief as she sipped her tea. “Since I didn’t get the chance to properly introduce myself to you both because of the… incident in Ornyville…”“We are so sorry about that, Miss Bakken,” Micah interjected. Xenia turned to look at him and he regarded her with a smile before taking her hand and turning back to Delilah. “It’s just been a while since we had a mate and the bond was stronger than we anticipated.”“I don’t know what the big fuss was,” Mason added. Xenia turned to look at him. Her heart started to race as her hand curled into fists. What is this feeling towards him?“We did replace the bar table and compensated the owner,” Mason continued. “T

Dottie and Molly ran to his side to help him sit up. He swatted them away.“I’m fine, I’m fine,” he said with irritation. “I’m just a bit tired, hungry, and my ass is full of sand. How much longer do we have to stay here?”Dottie looked over the empty waves, shaking her head. “Laurie said to wait here for reinforcements.”“She didn’t say how long they will be,” Molly added. “But this was the safer option.”Serik looked toward the tunnel the others left through the other day, wondering if they were better off going with them. Then he thought about the fighting and unnecessary bloodshed and decided he chose the right path. Still, the shade of the moon in the sky gave him an eerie feeling.“There!” Dottie pointed to a ship that appeared on the horizon. Dottie and Molly exclaimed, jumping up and waving their hands in the air. Serif groaned, bare
