["Renesmee!"] I distanced my phone from my ear as soon as I answered Avery's call.
"Avery, ba't ka napatawag?" I asked.
["Nesmee, birthday ko na bukas! Punta ka sa bahay, ah? Hawak ko pamilya mo,"] she threatened. Oh, right. Her birthday is tomorrow.
"Birthday mo na pala bukas?" I teased. Gusto ko lang siyang asarin but the truth is, matagal ko na talagang pinaghahandaan ang birthday niya. Pinaghirapan ko pa 'yung regalo ko sa kanya, ah. I personally designed her a dress and sued it myself.
