She could search for her own name and spend the entire morning discovering what people believed had happened to her.

For a moment, the temptation was there.

Then she turned the screen off.

She didn't have the energy today to defend herself against a world that wasn't looking for the truth.

It wanted a story to entertain itself with.

And she was tired of being part of someone else's story.

She put the phone down.

Then, after a brief pause, she picked it up again.

This time, she opened the work app.

One of her clients was waiting for a drawing that was due before noon.

Lian looked at the message for a few seconds.

It was an ordinary request. Nothing emotional. Nothing complicated.

For some reason, that made it easier to answer.

She typed:

"Good morning. I'm sorry for the delay. I'll send the final version today as promised."

She read it once before pressing send.

Then she put the phone down.

It was the first message she had sent since the celebration ended, and it wasn't to anyone in her family or to anyone asking about her.

It was for her work.

A faint smile touched her lips.

It was such a small thing, but she found herself looking at it differently.

Yesterday, everyone had wanted something from her.

An explanation.

An answer.

A reaction.

A version of events they could understand.

Today, she had chosen to give her attention to something that had nothing to do with any of them.

Maybe this was the life she had chosen.

A life that didn't begin with apologies, but with keeping her word.

She picked up her tablet and notebook and walked toward the balcony.

When she opened the glass door, cool morning air drifted gently inside.

She paused for a moment.

The air was different from the heavy silence of the bedroom. It touched her face and moved lightly through her hair, carrying the distant sounds of a city already beginning its day.

The balcony was wide, overlooking the city from above.

From that height, the cars looked like tiny points moving silently along the streets. Buildings stretched into the distance, some already bright beneath the morning sun, while others were still half-hidden in the pale light.

No noise reached her clearly.

No faces.

No whispers.

Only a distant city beginning another day, unaware that a woman standing above it was trying to begin again too.

Lian stepped farther onto the balcony.

For months, she had lived surrounded by other people's decisions. Even when she was alone, their voices seemed to follow her.

This morning, there was no one telling her what she should do next.

She didn't know if that freedom was frightening or comforting.

Maybe it was both.

She set her tablet on the metal stand and placed her notebook beside it. Then she sat down on the wooden chair and held the stylus between her fingers.

For a moment, she didn't draw.

She simply looked at the blank space on the screen.

Her hand felt strangely familiar there.

She had spent years holding a pencil in secret, drawing when she was supposed to be doing something else, hiding pages when someone came near, and telling herself that perhaps one day she would have enough courage to take her work seriously.

That day had not arrived in the way she once imagined.

It had come after disappointment, exhaustion, and a night she wished she could forget.

But it had come.

Lian closed her eyes for a few seconds.

Then she opened the drawing file.

The character she had been working on for days appeared on the screen.

A little girl carrying a lantern and walking alone through a dark forest.

Lian studied her for a long moment.

There was something familiar about the girl.

The small figure surrounded by darkness.

The uncertain road ahead.

The tiny light she carried even though it wasn't enough to illuminate everything around her.

Lian didn't change the drawing.

She didn't need to.

She simply looked at it, wondering how long she had been drawing herself without realizing it.

Then she placed the stylus against the screen.

One line, then another.

The movement of the stylus was calm and steady, as though it already knew where to go.

She didn't rush.

She didn't try to make the drawing perfect.

She simply kept moving.

The city continued below her.

Cars passed through the streets.

People went about their mornings.

Somewhere, phones were ringing and doors were opening, and the world was already busy with another day.

But none of it reached her here.

There was nothing on the balcony except the soft sound of the pen moving across the tablet and the occasional movement of the morning air.

Lian kept drawing.

She didn't know what the coming days would bring.

She didn't know whether the rumors would disappear or whether her family would understand what she had finally begun to do.

She didn't know whether the road ahead would be easy.

For now, she didn't need to know.

The little girl on the screen was still walking through the forest, carrying her small lantern through the darkness.

And Lian was still drawing her path, one line at a time.

She looked at the screen and continued.

One line.

Then another.

And that silence felt more honest than all the words she had heard over the past six months.

The phone remained facedown on the table, but the vibrations continued. Once, then again, then a third time. Lian closed her eyes and reached for it without much interest, assuming the latest notification was another work message. It wasn't. An anonymous account. No profile picture, no name, nothing but a few short lines. "If you were a real woman, your husband wouldn't have run away from you." Lian's breathing caught for a moment. Before she could even process the message, another appeared. "Win your husband's heart first. Then think about drawing." Then a third. "A woman who can't make her husband stay doesn't deserve to call herself a woman." Lian stared at the screen. She didn't cry, and she didn't get angry. Instead, a cold emptiness slowly spread through her. How strang

The only sound in the room was the soft movement of the stylus across the drawing tablet. One line followed another, accompanied by faint touches of color around the characters' eyes. Lian leaned slightly toward the screen, its blue light reflecting against her pale face. She had lost track of time hours ago, barely noticing her hunger or the tiredness creeping into her body. She was completely absorbed in the world she was creating with her own hands. On the screen, a young man and woman stood beneath a blooming cherry tree. Neither of them was speaking. The girl looked shyly at the ground while the young man held out a small umbrella to shield her from the rain. Lian smiled as she drew that same shy smile on her heroine's face, but then she stopped and stared at the picture for a long moment. It was strange, really. She could draw love in all its details. She knew how longing looked in someone's eyes, how fingers trembled during a firs

Lian woke up without anyone waking her. There was no ringing phone, no alarm, and no knock on the door. The silence alone had been enough to pull her from sleep. She opened her eyes slowly, but she didn't look at the ceiling or turn toward the heavy curtains, where the morning light struggled to find its way through the gaps. Her sunken, swollen eyes, exhausted from a long night without real sleep, stared at a point that wasn't really there, as if they couldn't see the spacious room, the large bed, or the carefully chosen furniture meant to reflect the names of two powerful families. She was looking somewhere beyond all of it.At a little girl who used to hide her pencils inside her schoolbag so she wouldn't have to hear those words again: "Drawing won't give you a future."At a girl who used to close the door of her art room whenever she heard footsteps approaching, afraid that someone might walk in and ask what she was doing.

She took one step, then another, until she was close enough to see every detail of her reflection. Lian raised a hand and touched the corners of her swollen eyes. Her fingers moved slowly over her pale cheek, almost as if she were trying to make sure the woman standing in front of her was really there. "When..." The word barely left her lips. Silence filled the room. She looked into her own eyes for a long moment before asking again, "When did I become like this?" No one answered. She kept staring, seeing behind those tired eyes the long nights of silence and the years she had spent living the way other people wanted her to live instead of the way she wanted. She saw every time she had swallowed a word because it was easier than arguing. Every dream she had hidden because someone had told her it wasn't practical. Every
