Emma Volkov

Morning arrived without mercy.

Sunlight spilled through the tall windows, bright and invasive, pulling me out of shallow sleep. For a moment, I lay still, listening. The mansion had its own rhythm—guards changing shifts, distant footsteps, the muted clink of porcelain from the kitchens. Life moved on, indifferent to the fact that I was a bargaining chip wrapped in silk sheets.

I swung my legs over the side of the bed and tested my ankle. Sore, but better. Healing always brought impatience with it.

I dressed carefully—nothing flashy, nothing weak. A fitted black dress the maids had chosen for me, modest but sharp. Armor came in many forms. I brushed my hair back, met my reflection, and made a silent promise not to fracture today.

Whatever Lucas meant by eventful, I would not react. Reaction was surrender.

The library called to me again.

I spent the morning there, perched in a high-backed chair near the window, a book on European power dynamics open in my lap. I actually rea

  • Felon- A Dark Mafia Romance   Chapter 4

Emma VolkovThe silence he left behind was louder than any shout.I stayed seated long after Lucas stormed out, staring at the half-empty wineglass in front of me, watching the candlelight tremble against its surface. My pulse refused to slow. Something had cracked in him—something I hadn’t meant to touch, hadn’t even known was there—and the aftermath lingered like smoke. When I finally rose, my ankle protested, a dull reminder that I was still very much a prisoner in enemy territory. A maid appeared as if summoned by instinct and guided me back through the corridors. Guards watched from every archway, every landing. Their eyes followed, measuring, assessing. No hostility. No kindness. Just vigilance.Back in my room, I paced. The walls were too close tonight, the luxury suffocating. I limped to the window and pulled the curtain aside. The gardens glowed faintly under lantern light—perfect hedges, silent fountains, paths that led nowhere I could reach. Somewhere beyond those grounds l

  • Felon- A Dark Mafia Romance   Chapter 3

Emma VolkovThe library became my sanctuary.I found it on the fourth day of captivity, purely by accident, while limping down a corridor under the watchful eyes of two armed guards. They were everywhere in the mansion—silent, disciplined, dressed in black, positioned like statues that breathed. No matter where I went, I was never alone. Not truly. But the library… the library felt different. The doors were tall and heavy, dark wood carved with intricate designs. When I pushed them open, the smell hit me instantly—old paper, leather bindings, dust, and something faintly smoky, like history itself had been burned into the walls. It was massive.Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves lined every wall, stacked with volumes in multiple languages. A rolling ladder sat against one shelf, and a long table occupied the center of the room, lit by a brass lamp. Large windows let in soft daylight, illuminating floating dust motes that made the space feel unreal, like a dream I wasn’t sure I deserved. For

Emma VolkovPain woke me before fear did.A sharp, pulsing ache throbbed through my ankle, spreading upward in angry waves, dragging me out of restless darkness. For a moment I didn’t remember where I was. Then the scent hit me—linen, antiseptic, something faintly herbal—and memory crashed back like a blade.Lucas Moretti. The car.The night. My eyes flew open.I wasn’t in the SUV anymore. I lay on a wide bed draped in ivory sheets, the mattress soft enough to swallow me whole. Sunlight filtered through tall windows veiled by sheer curtains that fluttered gently, as if the room itself were breathing.Too beautiful.Too calm.My body tensed instantly, adrenaline slicing through the lingering haze in my head. I tried to sit up——and gasped.Pain shot through my ankle, white-hot and unforgiving. I bit down on a cry, my fingers curling into the sheets as I forced myself upright. My foot was wrapped in a neat white bandage, swelling visible beneath it.I scanned the room, heart hammering.

  • Felon- A Dark Mafia Romance   Season 2. Chapter -1

Emma VolkovThe chandeliers were dripping diamonds. That was the first thought that crossed my mind as I stepped into the ballroom—how the light fractured into a thousand shards and scattered itself over silk gowns, polished shoes, and the sharp edges of power. Everything gleamed. Everything pretended. That was the way of galas like this: beautiful lies wrapped in gold.My father’s hand rested lightly at the small of my back, a possessive, protective touch he never quite realized he still gave me. Ivan Volkov—Russian mafia boss, king of shadows, the man whose name made grown men swallow hard—smiled like a proud parent as cameras flashed and heads turned.“Smile, solnyshko,” he murmured in Russian. “Tonight, we enjoy ourselves.”I did smile. For him. For my mother. For the illusion.Mama’s arm was linked through mine, her emerald gown flowing like liquid envy. She looked stunning, as always—graceful, untouchable, the kind of woman people underestimated at their own peril. To the world,

  • Felon- A Dark Mafia Romance   Epilogue

Lilah’s POV Fifteen Years Later...Life had a way of sneaking up on you, didn’t it? One moment, you’re sitting in a hospital room, holding your newborn daughter, and the next, you’re standing in the living room, watching her head off to high school with a backpack almost as big as she is. Time was a thief, stealing the days and weeks, leaving behind only memories of laughter, tears, and endless love.Emma was fifteen now, and her personality was a perfect mix of Ivan and me. She had his stubbornness and my kindness, his determination and my sense of wonder. She was beautiful, inside and out, with her father’s blue eyes and my dark curls. And she was all grown up.“You ready, sweetheart?” I asked, smoothing a wrinkle from her uniform.Emma turned to me with a smile, her cheeks flushing a little. “I guess so, Mom. It’s just high school, not the end of the world.”I chuckled, trying to keep my voice steady. “I know, but it’s a big step, isn’t it?”Emma shrugged, her eyes showing a matur
