"I know you did that for a reason," my mum whispers as she carefully approaches my bed. I haven't left this room since that ridiculous ceremony.

My mind is stuck on those sad resigned eyes. She is hurting and I can feel it in every nerve in my body.

"After what happened today, everything just changed. There are whispers that werewolves are planning something, but your father doesn't know it yet." Mum sighs and walks towards the window.

She has that faraway look in her eyes. The bruises on her neck aren't something new to me. I always wondered why she couldn't just leave, but now I know why.
