1: The Other Woman

The party was already in full swing at the Hamilton Mansion when Sherry and her husband, the billionaire Axel Green, exited their vehicle.

They entered the grandiose mansion and greeted everyone they knew at the party.

"Hon, I will just talk to someone. Find a place where you can be comfortable," Axel said, his eyes fixed on the blonde-haired woman standing across the room.

"OK." Sherry walked to the sofa and made herself comfortable.

The two women sitting on the sofa nod at her and continue their conversation.

The waiter approached the ladies carrying a tray filled with drinks. Sherry took one glass and began sipping the red liquid.

She glanced at the area where her husband had gone and noticed that Axel was no longer talking to his friends. Where is he?

Maybe he was there somewhere having a conversation with a business associate or chatting with his friends and family members. Every time he wants to talk business with anyone, he prefers to do it without her. She doesn't mind at all.

Their union is the result of an arranged marriage between families. It took them several months after the wedding before they managed to consummate their wedding vows. The experience is amazing for her because she quickly develops feelings toward her cold, handsome husband, but she knows deep inside that Axel isn't fully into her.

She can feel that he is holding something back from her.

Sometimes he is caring towards her, especially if there are other people around, but most of the time he is cold when they are the only two people inside the room.

Axel is like a hot and cold water dispenser; his attitude towards her depends on his mood. He is secretive, moody, and wants to spend the majority of his time alone in his study room.

She snapped herself from going down memory lane.

She finished drinking her wine and looked around the room. Still no sign of her husband; where is he?

She put the empty glass of wine on the center table and rose to her feet. She might as well find him instead of waiting for him. She scanned the faces of the attendees milling around her, but she failed to see her husband among the people chatting nearby.

She wanted to breathe fresh air and went to the back of the house, to the location of the swimming pool. There were tables and chairs scattered everywhere, and the sparkling water of the pool looked inviting, but no one was swimming in the pool because everyone was wearing party gowns.

She settled on the table near the fountain and gazed at the pool, wondering where her husband was right now. She can't find him inside the house. He's not in the backyard garden as well. Maybe she should check the second floor.

She rose to her feet and was about to leave the garden when she heard low voices talking nearby. The voices were low but she was able to recognize her husband's voice instantly. Then she heard a woman's voice as well.

Was her husband talking to a woman at the back of the gazebo?

She walked slowly towards the gazebo, crouched down to the ground, carefully concealing her presence to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"Babe, when are you going to serve the divorce paper to your wife?"

"Not yet. My wife and I are going to celebrate our two-year anniversary this coming Sunday. After our anniversary, I will give her the divorce papers."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes!"

"I'm getting impatient. If you don't divorce her soon, I will leave the country, and you will never see me again!"

"Please don't say that, babe!"

"I can't wait forever! I left my live-in partner just to be with you again. And now you are delaying our union!"

"Please don't say that, babe. You know that I want to be with you 24/7 but I'm a married man. People will raise their brows once they find out we are having an affair behind my wife's back. Just give me a few days and I will have Sherry sign the divorce paper without any problem."

OMG!

My heart!

Sherry gasped in pain after discovering the betrayal of her husband by another woman. Tears sprang from her eyes. She tried her best not to cry; they might discover her presence eavesdropping on them.

She no longer hears anything. All she can hear is deafening silence and when she looked at the wall of the gazebo, she saw the couple kissing each other passionately. She could no longer hold her tears; she got up quickly and left the garden.

She went back to the house, looking for a place to cry privately. She looked in the direction of the restroom at the end of the hallway and rushed towards it. She entered an empty cubicle and sat on the cover of the bowl, covering her face with her trembling hands. She began sobbing silently.

Just when she thought that she and her husband were about to become a real couple who care deeply for each other, she was wrong!

Her fantasy of achieving a perfect marriage with Axel was flushed down the drain in just a blink of an eye.

They no longer have any future together!

Their union was over.

He will serve her the divorce papers after their second anniversary.

Noooooo!

She won't allow it to happen!

She will not sign the divorce paper. She will fight for her marriage with Axel.

If this thing happened in the past in the early phase of their marriage, she might agree to the divorce because she has no feelings for him yet. But now that she has finally learned to love him despite his aloof nature, she can't let go of him that easily.

Her heart is bleeding; she was drowning in deep sorrow. Tears rolled on her face in abundance; she has a hard time breathing. She wants to cry loudly, but she can't.

After a few minutes of silent crying, she decided to go home. It's useless to stay at the party while her husband is busy kissing another woman. She wiped her tears with the handkerchief and took a long, deep breath, calming herself.

She retouch her makeup before leaving the cubicle.

A few minutes later, Sherry was already leaving the Hamilton Mansion, waiting outside the gate for the taxi to arrive that she had contacted earlier before she left the restroom.

She needs to go home before she will completely break down after discovering tonight the devastating reality of her husband's infidelity.

She needs a lot of thinking to do before she confronts her husband about his woman.

The sad and painful truth killed her heart and sent her into depression.

She will never be the same person again after accidentally discovering her husband's betrayal.

The taxi arrived and Sherry went home devastated and broken-hearted.
