Fire Wolf 2

I took a tiny sip of hot chocolate. My gaze was on the door. The sun was down and the evening was gnawing at me. It hardly would have been two hours, before I reached here. An uncomfortable feeling settled in my stomach. I wouldn't have done it against my will if it wasn't important for my mother. She has faced a lot. It's time to only face happiness for her.

For now, I'm alive. I'm waiting for my friends. They will make my stay easy here. I wasn't certain whether to come here. My mother's happiness is essential to me. I genuinely feel outcasted. I can't shift, I feel cold easily, and I'm not strong. I'm the vulnerable one.

I bit on the biscuit. I leaned forward to grab another one. My eyes were glued to the door in anticipation. I would kill them if they didn't show up. I was holding myself not to make another call. I took another bite and chewed it slowly.

Ava's face screwed up in disbelief, "Are you planning on putting on weight?" Her voice was hesitant.

When did she start to care for me? I opened my mouth to snap. The door pushed open. First I saw two large luggage bags and Silver and Elizabeth swept inside wearing giant smiles on their faces.

"You are late," I felt quite relieved. But I could not keep my annoyance away.

"Girls! You need to walk. I'm hungry." I heard Jasper. I could see his half-face from above their heads. He craned his neck and thinned his lips to hide a smile.

I giggled. Elizabeth waved her hand. The bags moved inside without any help.

"I love your magic," Silver smiled,

"Me, too." They scurried over to the table and sat down, pulling out the chair around me, "Jasper is pulling my leg," Her voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper.

"Ava, why don't you leave us alone?" Silver said, politely. But her voice wasn't friendly.

"Why should I go? It's my house," She stared at us, not liking her tone.

"Dear," Elizabeth leaned forward, "Don't you think to spoil her days when she is staying here." She advised her, pursing her lips.

"She won't do anything. Won't you?" Jasper asked her in his commanding voice.

"I'm not teasing her. You can ask her." Ava said with a sigh, getting on her feet.

She shook her head dismissively, her beautiful silky curls swishing back and forth. "You don't look excited to see your sister either," Silver said, grabbing my cup and she took a sip before putting it back.

Ava's gaze followed her hand. She gulped. I felt it. She should blame herself.

A very peculiar expression flitted across Elizabeth's face as she stared at them, "Agree," She said.

"Are you reading her?" I asked Betty.

She shrugged her shoulders, "Grandma has appointed a tutor for me. I'm excited to learn new things. Soon you'll see my wings too." She said happily.

"Really?" I squealed in merriment. My face lit up in exhilaration, "Can I touch your wings?" I imagined her soft-looking wings in the back of my mind.

Their faces brightened with beaming smiles to see me excited. "I'm not sure. But we can try." Elizabeth muttered, thoughtfully.

A strange emotion swept over Ava's face, her eyes were big. She must be frightened.

"She won't harm you. You have my words." I told Ava.

Her mouth fell open in shock. She must not have expected this, "But she can't protect you. She's a light faerie. You could be the light of the dark but no one couldn't protect you from the dark." She said bitterly.

Abruptly, she reminded me of Sap. A bitter truth! I didn't know anything about faeries and their beautiful but cunning world.

My heart fell as I stared at her. I wouldn't put my friends' life in danger. I didn't know anything about the light angels, the half-demons, or shadow hunters. They seemed the most powerful creatures. I could die. They could die. They shouldn't. It was my fight. I should be alone on this path

"We will shield our friend till the end of our last breath." Silver said.

"No," I said, panicking. I don't want any harm to them.

Jasper sat on the chair in front of us, "We have done this sort of thing before. It's not a big deal for us." I felt his confidence.

"No," I said, "No one is going to put his/her life in danger," I said, sternly.

Elizabeth thinned her lips, "I'm learning to use my magic. We can decide this later," Her gaze turned to Ava, "Am I right?" She asked her.

"Yes," She rushed out of the dining hall.

In fright, I looked at them. I wouldn't be able to live if something happened to them because of me.

"You don't need to worry," Silver flashed her beautiful smile.

I nodded without returning her smile. I couldn't do anything against the feeling of dread that settled into my chest.

"Ain't you going to share your hot chocolate with your brother?" Jasper wiggled his brows.

Silver rolled her eyes, "You're not a kid Jasper,"

"Hey, it's not just for kids," Elizabeth protested.

"I'll bring two more cups." I got on my feet.

"Why two?" Silver swept her questioning gaze on me.

"You said it yourself," I smiled.

Elizabeth giggled, "Yes, I heard it too."

"As your wish," Silver grabbed my cup.

We chuckled. I twirled to the kitchen. My smile faded. I suppressed a sigh. I couldn't use them as my shield. I couldn't put them in danger. I have a week. I'll find a way. Though, I failed all the time. I should never stop trying.

When I turned to the counter I saw them exchanging looks. They were worried too. But for what?

"Guys, I'll be really happy if you share everything with me," I told them. I hated being in the dark. I should know what I'm going to face. I would be able to grasp my fear.

Their heads turned to me. They didn't try to hide the sadness from their faces.

"Alessandro couldn't find the light angel yet," Jasper said. Sadness grasped over their beautiful faces.

"Time is running," Silver said, sighing.

Deep down, I know. They're also feeling helpless. It's not in their nature to feel powerless. They are warriors who know only to win.

"I've called a meeting. I would ask for other Alphas' help. Someone must have known about him. We just need a hint." Jasper said, his tone encouraging. I appreciate it. But it feels bad to know that I'm the cause of this sadness.

I swept my gaze over each of them, misting over with feelings. They're not hiding. "Thank you. It feels better in this way," I told them.

No matter! Danger or my death. I'd be grateful to them if they would include me, and make me part of their conversation.

I might not have known what was kept in store for me. I have to find the reasons, and cause of my curse, my mute, who could be so strong to put such a curse that was incurable. I don't want to know how many times this curse would have killed me if it started at the beginning or end of the sixteenth century.

I turned my back to them as I was fearing they would show the dread on my face. A sudden pain took hold of me, "I don't wanna lose any of you." I said.

"You won't." Silver said, walking into the kitchen, "Trust us,"

With them, I felt all the hope and security, but I couldn't neglect the fear. My sentiment was high.

"Emma, Sofia would do this." My mother said, walking in the kitchen.

Sofia was Charles's house caretaker. She was a bulky, tall woman with stern features. She scared me. She was totally different from Rhiannon, my father's house caretaker.

I nodded and stepped aside. I grabbed Silver's hand, pulling her with me out of the kitchen. I withdraw my hand immediately.

Without a backward glance, I hurried out on the lawn. It was cold outside but I like the fresh air. The sun was down. But a dim light could be seen in the atmosphere.

"Peaceful from outside," Luke said, suddenly, walking toward me.

I turned back to look for my friends. But I was alone. I shouldn't seek their help every time. I should start from home. Though, it wasn't my home.

"I'm hoping you aren't going through this," I asked him, not showing my discomfort.

He glared at me, "You're nothing without your friends. Hope to see you last time," He smirked, mimicking me.

My shoulders lowered with a quiet sigh. They were the reason I didn't want to come home, "What do you want?" I asked. I want to end this whatever he was holding against me.

"Not you in my house," His eyebrows pulled together in exasperation. He hates me. It's written clearly on his face.

"You won't see me after this weekend." I said to him, ensuring him.

"After three days!" His brows shot up and a full smirk displayed on his face.

I nodded my head. I didn't want to know. Why did they hate me? I didn't want to be there where I was unwanted.

Luke's expression turned horrible suddenly. I gazed at him in confusion. He was still as someone had put a serrated edge against his throat.

I batted my lashes and was about to spin when my gaze caught Charles's furious eyes on his son.

"You won't be the future Beta of the pack." Charles said,

I froze in shock. Seeing him in anger wasn't a good sign, particularly for Luke.

"No, Dad." He hurried his feet toward him.

"You'll patrol our territory from today," He continued, his stern gaze never leaving him.

"You can't do this, Dad." Luke said-shouted again.

"You can't be a beta with hatred in your heart for your own sister." He said,

"She's not my sister. No one knows who she is. Carla must have picked her from thrash. Look at her eyes. She can't shift..."

"Enough! You heard me," Charles said out loud and advanced his strides toward the door.

"Okay, dear Daddy." I stood between him and the door, "He would hate me more and hold me responsible for everything." I said to him.

"Good to know. Then, he doesn't deserve to be the beta of the pack. It's still available if he works hard." He let out a slow breath, "Your mother loves you a lot. You can't even measure. Your brother and sister need to understand this. They can't disrespect you. You're their Queen." He said, looking in my eyes. I felt like a little girl whose father was making his daughter comprehend that she could do anything. His eyes turned to Luke. "Be a good person, then we'll talk about your position in the pack." Charles strode to the door.

I waited for Luke to shout at me in anger. He ran his hands through his long hair staring at the sky. He walked over to his car without a word and glanced back at me. I agreed with what Charles had said but only my presence brought out his bad side. I have to go alone to find the light angel who could help me to gain the book from the shadow hunter.
