It was a great time before the slaughter. I was glad I could spend time with them. My friends were tired. So they hurried to their rooms. Ava was behind them. I didn't see him after he disappeared in the dark.

"Good night, kiddo." Drake kissed my head before taking the stairs. His rare gaze turned to Luke and they nodded at each other. I couldn't understand them and their nodding.

When Drake was upstairs I whirled to Luke, "You don't need to do this against your will. I can talk to Charles." I told him.

He shook his head, "I didn't do this so you could talk to Dad. I was wrong. You're not as bad as I thought you would be." He said.

My eyes narrowed at him, "Did someone try to poison your ears against me?" I asked.

"Doesn't matter," He shoved his hands in his jeans pockets and climbed the stairs, quicker than I could imagine.
