The chaos and noise in the room faded away slowly; it didn’t settle all at once, but gradually. The urgency in the room has softened. Voices are no longer sharp but in low murmurs now.

The chaotic movements in the room are now more settled and more controlled. The machines are now steady. The chaotic sounds are now sounding smoother than they were before.

Elera slowly regains consciousness; she feels much calmer than the first time she woke up. Her breathing was smoother; it was not harsh like before. The pain she felt before was gone. The tightness she felt in her chest also loosened. She feels so light, maybe even too light.

Elera still feels the heaviness in her body. Strangely, she doesn’t feel suffocated by it. Elera feels like her body belongs to someone else. It's like she has lost control over her body.

Her eyelids flutter as she tries to open them; they open effortlessly this time around. As she opened her eyes, the light burned a little, but it wasn’t as harsh or blinding as before. Elera tries to adjust her eyes to the light. The blurriness begins to fade, and her vision gradually becomes clearer.

The room she was in became more visible to her. The room was very white, the walls looked so smooth, and there were no visible joints in them at all. There were no imperfections in the room. The lights in the room seem to be coming from everyone in the room.

It is a brightly lit room. Elera can’t help but explore the room. She sees machines she has never seen before. They were tall with metallic structures. They all had transparent panels that glowed faintly. “Wow…. this is amazing…”

Elera couldn't help but think to herself. The shapes and designs are like nothing she has ever seen before. She saw thin cables that extended in pristine lines. Elera tries to remember if she has seen any of these designs before, but nothing comes to mind.

Faint hums filled the entire room; they didn’t sound loud. It felt as if the room itself was alive. All this confuses Elera the more. She feels very strange about all this. Elera frowned as her thoughts became clearer.

Elera tries to study one of the machines beside her, but the information and data it was processing was moving too fast for her to process the information. The design was just too different. They looked like advanced machines.

Elera’s chest tightened a little bit; her breathing is still steady. Elera knows technology; she was surrounded by it. She has studied technology and even helped build it. But this is something she has never encountered.

Elera can’t help but feel uneasy. Elera moves her gaze around the room again. She moved slowly again to take in more information.

Elera noticed a curved surface that covered part of her body; it looked transparent, and it was very invisible too. Then, light in the room reflected on it, and she was able to see what it was a little.

It looked like a chamber, Elera felt she couldn’t really tell. “I don’t remember being placed in a chamber like this.” Elera tries to search through her memory, but everything feels so blank.

“Why can’t I remember, like some part of my memory has been wiped clean”...

Unconsciously, she moves her fingers against the surface, though the movement was small, Elera couldn’t help but be happy. “I’m gaining control again.”

“Let me try to move my head.d” Elera put so much effort into it, it worked… “Yes, finally..” Elera sees another part of the room she is in. The room is a large room, and everything just stretches out beyond what she can see.

Everything is arranged in order. She looked fascinated with everything she saw. Then a screen caught her eye; it was a large, vertical-looking screen. It was embedded in the wall of the room.

It was on, and there were words displayed on it. Different information was shown and moved. The data was too long; she couldn’t process it at all.

On the screen, something caught Elera’s eye. It was a date. Elera tries to focus her eyes very well on the screen to see the date properly. Her eyes kept getting blurry as she tried to refocus them.

Elera closes her eye and opens it again. The date she saw shocks her. “This is not right. What am I seeing right now?” The numbers Elera saw settled in her subconscious.

A gap escapes from her mouth. Her mind tried to fight what she was seeing. Elera stares straight at the screen, not blinking her eyes, as if the information will disappear. The date remains the same. It didn’t change at all.

There was no correction to it at all.  It stayed exactly the way it was. Elera begins to feel uneasy, her pulse rising, little by little.

Elera’s thoughts were all over the place. Just trying to make sense of what was happening. Elera was trying to find an explanation for what she saw on display.

“It has to be a system glitch, yes.. It had been. Because there is no way what I’m seeing is right.”

Elera curled her fingers to stabilize herself, her eyes still glued to the screen. “If this is true th, that means it is 25 years later, it's been 25 years ahead of anything I could remember.” Elera couldn't help but panic as she thought to herself.

Her chest tightened a little, her breathing dragged a bit. The realization is sinking in. It felt heavy and suffocating for her to process or to ignore. The entire room felt colder than it should have been.

The room felt bigger, but the screen remained the same. They were not changing at all.

Elera had a long sleep; she could hear the movements around her, but she couldn’t move her body. She felt trapped in her body again. Meeting Cassian and finding out he is her son was too much for Elera to bear. Though she was unconscious, her mind was still active. She finally was able able to open her eyes. Her eyes moved around the room to see where she was. The room was dark except for the city lights that shone beyond the glass walls. The city sounded so alive, just like the first time she was moved to the room. It still felt very strange to her. Nothing about this world felt human to her anymore. What disturbed her the most was not the technology but Cassian. Her son. Elera couldn’t even imagine having a son that big.Elera remembered the way he looked at her, spoke with her. She remembered the longing in his eyes. Elera sat up slowly in bed. Reminiscing about Cassian. Her gaze stared at the city lights. “Cassian knows something; they all do,” she whispered.“And somehow I’m

Elera lay on the bed, still unconscious, as the medical staff tried to find out what was wrong. The older director turned to the guard who came with news concerning Cassian, “How many minutes more before he gets here?” “In less than five minutes, sir.” his answer made everyone in the room feel tense. They haven’t prepared for a day like this; everything was going out of control. “Is there a way to stall him?” one of the directors asked. Nobody could answer that question because they all knew there was no way to stop Cassian Hartwell. Although young, he has established himself as an immovable force. As they were all contemplating what to do, they heard heavy footsteps outside the door. The directors and the medical staff all stopped their actions, there gaze shifted to the door.“He is here already”, the older executive mumbled in his breath. The atmosphere in the room was very tense, and all gazes were fixed on the door. The door to the room finally opened, and bodyguards rushed in,

Elera was shocked; she couldn’t comprehend what the man had called her. The noise around her became distant in her ears, and the words kept ringing in her ears. Elera couldn’t believe the man called her his mother. Her mind flashed back to the information she saw previously, the reproductive files. Elera couldn’t remember ever being pregnant before she was frozen. The staff members beside Elera also stood stunned; they didn’t expect Cassian to share such information with Elera. It took them a while to regain control of themselves. Elera tried to move the wheelchair she was sitting on closer to the room, but it won’t bulge. She could still see Cassian standing there watching her. His entire gaze was fixed on her.Elera raised her voice a little for Cassian to hear her. “Why did you call me that?” Cassian paused a little before he responded again, “That’s because… You are my mother.” His voice was heard again from the speakers. Elera still found it hard to believe what he was sayin

There was a change in the atmosphere before he even arrived. There was an unusual silence in the air. The type of silence that comes before a storm. Elera could help but observe way the staff members moved. Elera had been sitting near the archive room doorway with two medical staff members behind her. Two guards stepped in front of her without any explanation. “Doctor Voss, we need you to return to your designated area,” one of the guards said with a hint of hostility in his voice. Elera felt angry, first, because nobody answered her questions, and now they are restricting her movements. Elera responded angrily, “I didn’t leave my designated area. Besides, you can see me with the medical staff. The guards didn’t respond; instead, they signaled to the medical staff. The staff had no choice but to obey them. Elera knew there was nothing she could do at that moment, especially not in her weak state. The medical staff guided her forward; there was no room for negotiations. The wheelch

The medical staff helped Elera into her wheelchair. Elera turned to the nurse,” I want to tour the facility.” The nurse hesitated at first: “I will have to ask for clearance first.” The nurse typed a message into a device she was holding. “She wants to tour the facility. Do we have permission to go ahead?” They all waited in an awkward silence before a response came in. “Permission granted.” “Doctor Voss, we have been granted clearance.” Elera didn’t look fazed; she just wanted to leave the room. She needed to understand the world around her. The two medical staff stood by her side to support her and also monitor her vitals. The doors of the room slid open, and the wheelchair moved on its own as if knowing the direction Elera wanted to go.As they moved along the Corridor, Elera’s eyes moved quickly across the corridor. Seh still felt amazed with how ar the world had advanced. The corridor was so clean that one could see one’s reflection in it. Machines floated past er without even

“She doesn’t know about the children,” the Doctor replied to the Nurse. Elera could not describe what she felt at that moment. Those words keep echoing in her mind, “Children, when… when did I have children?” Elera could feel a sharp pain in her chest. She could not believe the information she was hearing. “But I have been in a coma for twenty-five years; there is no way I could have had children then, right?” Elera lay in bed, frozen from shock. Elera felt maybe she misunderstood them, but deep down, she knew she didn’t. The way they spoke, they sounded sure of what they were saying. Elera, enduring the pain, turned her body to the other side. She felt a cold shiver as she focused on the skylines of the city. “Children, but how…” She could not wrap her mind around it. She tried to remember events from twenty-five years ago that made her fall into a coma, but she couldn’t remember anything. Her mind was blank.Elera couldn’t help but feel fear and a strong feeling that something w
